I only learned about this challenge at all two days ago, and even though I'm much younger than the earlier participants, I'm going to participate. Hopefully next year the extra time comes in handy.

Since you mentioned that the top 30 have to submit a list of assets they didn't make- does that mean we get penalized (at least later in the process) if we modified tremendous amounts of images we got online (to serve as props, backgrounds, etc)? Great video!

I knew about this competition super late like two days before its deadline. Also, I don't know anything about animations. Can I write down on paper to explain the concepts?
Hello there! I'm attending this year and I have a question. Are competitors informed about whether they have passed at each stage of the competition? For example, I am now not notified of the Evaluation panel review phase and whether I have passed the Administrative review. Does the Breakthrough Junior Challenge only inform the finalists when the time comes? Thank you!!

Hello Jefferey, I have some very specific questions for you and I hope you do not mind. If your video is slightly shorter than 3 minutes(my script has 506 words)is that okay? Also I am thinking about using your phone method for recording. Did you tape the phone on your back or on your chest?
Will it be a problem if I covered a topic that many previous contestants talked about last year? But it is good and in my own way?

Haha no worries. I just learned Cinema 4D because my friend didn't need his, and I felt it was just a little easier to get into as I didn't have that much experienced with 3D (I used Autodesk Maya before which was really hard haha!) But Blender is great too!!
Hello Jeffery! At 07:57, you told us not to choose controversial topics. Is this your subjective opinion? I couldn't find any information about whether we should or should not pick such topics on the Breakthrough website or judging criteria. The reason why I am asking this question is because topics that are usually covered in advanced college math may not have any scientific evidence.
What If I am 12 but turning thirteen this year? Can I still apply? I just have a late birthday

Hi Jeffery, could you tell me what lapel mic you bought/used? Also, do you have any experience with gimbals, and if so what do you recommend? Thanks so much.
Hey!! So I used a lav mic from Amazon, I’m pretty sure it’s made by “Ttstar”. It’s relatively cheap (around $25), but other lav mics should work fine!
As far as a gimbal, I did have a camera stabilizing gimbal that I borrowed from a friend. There are alternatives to having stable footage though that you can look up on UA-cam!

Hey hi, I just had a query that can we participate every year, I mean that if I don't get selected this year ,can I participate the next year and if I'll be rejected that year also can I participate the year after that ?pls 🙏 answer this question , because I don't know if I'll participate this year or not because I came to know about the breakthrough junior challenge today and I don't have anything planned
Hardik marvelous you can participate every year as long as you are still within the age group of 13-18, In fact the last three winners had participated twice each.
Did you use an iphone to video record?
I used an iPhone for some shots and a Canon M50 for others
Dude how did you fit 544 words on your script? my script is 501 words and over 3 mins when I speak fast...
i recommend that you speak at 167 words per minute or faster

For peer-to-peer, you're just basically watching and rating other films by contestants. Be honest, and try to learn something new!
