    Start as a student paramedic soon, is it worth getting a pair now or is that a bit too keen?

      If you can afford a Mercedes to learn to drive then I’d say go for it! 😂 They’re a great set of tools and will last you a long time. I know as a student my financial situation was a little tricky so it may be worthwhile looking around the market and seeing what you can afford :) if you can afford these then 100% go for it!

    The faulty lock makes zero difference to how the scissors should cut as it comes loose in the opposite direction of the pressure you need to cut. It looks like yer trying to make it look bad.

      If it comes loose in the opposite direction, it means you can't open the shears normally, and instead you need to manually pull open the blades. Opening the blades is part of the cutting operation in shears/scissors, dummy.

    I recommend with any of them fake or Leatherman of which I have had both and both have held up please buy a tactical clip lead with quick release to hold the scissors so you will never loose them. Depends what budget you have to start but I have had no problems with either pair ❤

      @@studentparamedics absolutely one think I’m a little disappointed on with the holster is that you cannot turn it however on the fakes there is a system that allows you to rotate it but on the leather and holster it does lock the shears in when you have them in the unfolded position

    The cheaper sears probably use cheaper and softer metal so it will be dull quicker

    • @studentparamedics
      @studentparamedics  Рік тому

      I’ve heard of little rust spots appearing in the fakes. There’s no reliable QC for longevity here as the manufacturers are not interested in brand reputation.

    • @Roshan_420
      @Roshan_420 Рік тому

      @@studentparamedicsrust can also appear on the most expensive sears or knives if they use carbon steel but the type of metal really makes a difference in the longevity of the blade, they can both be sharp but the softer metal will be dull rather quickly such as a cheap knife, I’m interested in the Raptor but I’m not a paramedic, more into hiking and such

    • @Roshan_420
      @Roshan_420 Рік тому +1

      This one uses 420HC stainless steel btw
      “Leatherman multitools primarily makes use of three different steels for their blades: S30V, CM154 and 420HC. 420HC STAINLESS STEEL: An improved, high-carbon (HC) form of 420 stainless steel that works well with high production tooling. 420HC's strength is optimized in Leatherman multitools by heat treatment.”
      So its carbon steel, which is very hard and retains its shape, unlike cheaper sears or knives

    No doubt the problem is that you spent too much money on a fake. The comparison test is not correct, since the counterfeit starts with a structural problem that already makes them useless. We will never know if their cutting steel allows the same as leatherman, because they did not exert force on the handle.
    Today you can buy those fake scissors for 17 dollars...

    • @studentparamedics
      @studentparamedics  Рік тому

      I’m my books cutting power doesn’t matter if you can’t mechanically do so. It wasn’t just that a joint was poor quality - there was a significant structural oversight which would have been across the batch. Fake manufacturers just don’t have the QC that Leatherman does, plus I find it difficult to ethically reconcile purchasing one. $50AUD for some clarification 😉

      @@studentparamedics It seems strange to me that you start the test with the FAKE scissors already broken. It makes me think that before the video you did tests and that when you tried to cut a piece of metal (the 5-cent coin) it couldn't resist the pressure and they broke. Obviously the scissors did not resist like the leatherman scissors, but normally I do not use scissors to cut coins...
      You have to start the test with the scissors in the same conditions and show when each of them breaks in a test of extreme use.
