    Sangwoo picked Ali as a partner for two reasons. One is that he might be the strongest person in the game. If the game is really a partner versus parter, they have great advantage in terms of power and intelligence.
    The other is that if there's a possibility that the game will make them turn against each other (yes, Sangwoo didn't know the game. He just outsmarts Ali), he'll just outsmart him cause Ali didn't know much about Korean Children's games and he could take out the biggest threat in terms of strength.

      @TheSilenthvok Рік тому +4

      Yeah, I've always been on the Sang-Woo did nothing wrong side.
      These are literal death games. Every player has known that since the first game was over. He's just doing what he needs to do to live, can't really blame him for that.
      With that said, it's understandable for anyone to have an in the moment hatred for him as well.

    • @yolandag8436
      @yolandag8436 Рік тому

      I guess this 2 different reactions occur because sang woo manipulated Ali while gihun took advantage of an advantage(old man getting confused) but yea i agree both did it for survival and anyone in that position would've done whatever it takes to not die so we have to judge them equally

    • @clonexx
      @clonexx Рік тому +2

      I think the issue is in their responses to what they did and who they did it to. Gi-Hun just took advantage of the old man seeming to forget what was happening. He’s thinking that the old man won’t survive long even if he wins, so if he dies here, it’s not as bad as he himself dying. The old man also has no family to go back to. Gi-Hun was also incredibly remorseful throughout the game and really showed that he hated what he was doing.
      On the other side you have Sang-Woo, showing little to no remorse for what he’s doing to Ali. On top of that, Ali is young, healthy and has a family to go back to. He’s also manipulating Ali because he’s ignorant of the game and extremely trusting and respectful of his elders. Sang-Woo uses that to manipulate Ali into handing him the marbles without knowing he was. Ali dying has a far worse impact than the old man, in both years left to live and family to go back to.
      That’s why, I believe, people come down harder on Sang-Woo than Gi-Hun in this instance.

      @plstmb6000 Рік тому +1

      Sang woo made understandable actions, but it's objectively bad, if compared to any others main 'good guys' there.
      Viewer hate him cause he's been manipulative and selfish since beginning, and had no remorse at all, while Gi hun is heavily burdened by guilt every time and only trying to save himself without planning to sacrifice others. If Gi hun keeps his cheating all the way till the end, everybody would hate him too.
      If you can understand characters perception, I think you should understand viewers perception too, cause they're also overwhelmed with emotions in such a small runtime, and it's no brainer that they would support Gi hun more.

    The show really hits on folks that try to claim virture signaling. Its easy to say, "well I'd never do that", when it's not an immediate life or death situation. In the moment though, people will do all sorts of things to survive. However, it does a good dose of "what happens after". There's a reason why survior's guilt is a real traumatization.

    Hospital playlist : the story of the hospital doctors

  • @ESCLuciaSlovakia
    @ESCLuciaSlovakia Рік тому +1

    Sang-woo chose the strongest person to pair with. With his intelligence and Ali's strength, they would be a very strong team with a big chance to win, and potentially to win over everyone, if it came to that. Also, in my opinion, I think that we all say and wish that we would be Ji-yeong or Il-nam in this situation, but in reality we would be Sang-woo or Gi-hun. Unless you don't have any reason to live like Ji-yeong or Il-nam, facing death in minutes or seconds, everyone's natural self-preservation would prevail massively over any empathy for a person you have known for three days. Your brain would definitely prefer to stay traumatized because of what you caused to the other person, but still alive. It can deal with the trauma later.

    hahaha the girls were destroyed in this episode, they reminded me of the simpsons episode where homer or bart were watching the vhs where Ralph Wiggum gets his heart broken. (in this video it was at minute 30:51)

    It's crazy how Sang-woo manipulated Ali badly. Sang-woo is referred to as "Hyung" by Ali, which means "older brother." That is how Sang-woo was viewed by the guy he betrayed. This guy is a menace.

    Sang-woo didn't know the game. He picked Ali because he saw him as a more capable partner
