FARFISA SYNTORCHESTRA Analog Synthesizer 1975 | DEMO

- Demo of the Farfisa Syntorchestra - an italian analog keyboard / synthesizer. It looks a bit like an ARP synth. This vintage baby was used by Klaus Schulze on his album Moondawn, by Ash Ra (Ashra Tempel) and by Vangelis.
Basically, it is a simple monophonic synthesizer with some presets which can be modified and a polyphonic section. These two sections can be also combined and slightly detuned (intervals are also possible) to sound like a 2-VCO monophonic synth. It is simple, and it sounds great - especially with a delay effect!
I use it today to produce interesting pad and lead sounds in my music - sounds, which you don't get from other synths. It sounds really vintage, like classic electronic music from the seventies!
I played the Syntorchestra along with delay from a Roland DEP-5. - Наука та технологія
Dude, don't think I've ever been so impressed by a synth. I love all those melodies and chord sequences too!
This synth is playing By Claudio Simonetti in the film Phenomena of Dario Argento
Is Fantastic film and soundtrack
So much character. Very sPaCeY + psychedelic. I could see playing with that is very inspiring. With a little phaser + stereo delay the sound is out of this world!
For such innocent & cheesy looks, it sounds amazing! this is it, the ultimate 70's synth sounds.
I can definitely hear 'Moondawn'!!!!
Well, for example the album "Ashra - new age of earth" was recorded almost exclusively with the Syntorchestra. Or Klaus Schulze used it for the pads on the album "Moondawn". Yes, you can call their music progressive rock - or krautrock...
great stuff.
I'm just blown away! This looks like one of those Italian keyboards that you'd just assume is a divide-down, string machine/organ combo and dismiss, but I'm amazed at its range!
This is the real sound ! Better than all of these modern digital synthesizers. It´s fantastic.
Such a rare beauty. Such a full thick sound. I love it. Thank you for sharing.
Super!! Fantastic sound! So polyphonic, so clear (really amazing clearity)! Great instrument. Reminds me a Klaus Schulze`s "Moondawn" album, early works of Tangerine Dream and etc.
Wow, actually this is one of the best sounding synths I have ever heard. I'd kill for one of these things.
+Millenium better not, it's not worth it - just get one ;-)
I have one. It’s my favorite next to my mini korg.
@@kennycaligula3081 Lucky bugger you are - if I were you, I'd never ever sell it (and yes, I am still listening to this weekly since years) ;)
Millenium Totally. The one I have sat in a closet for 30 years. All I had to do was clean it up and she played great. I’m a huge fan of the flutes. The synthorchestra is all lover Bowie’s Berlin trilogy. What a diamond in the rough.
There is one up on Reverb right now ( 7 / 20 ) Seller is asking $829. It ships from Italy so shipping adds a few hundred bucks.
just found out about this instrument through the music of Cesar Mariano. Look up the albums he produced in the late 70s/early 80s to hear the syntorchestra put to incredible use! An incredibly distinct sound.
This is a fantastic demonstration of this amazing Farfisa by AnalogAudio1 and well deserves all the views it has received. Magnificent!
Definitely more than meets the eye; That such a rather simple looking synth can produce the range of sounds it does says a lot.
Amazing video! Very complete demonstration of an astoundishing classic machine. Five stars!
Delicious sounds!! Congrats on making such a wonderful demonstration.
incredible. This actually sounds like it captures the 70s synth sound really accurately. I think your jamming style helps that along too but wow, what a sound. I imagine that the delay isn't built in :)
soarornor:
Fancy bumping into you, here!!!
This is fantastic isn't it?!!
The late, great Marcos Mantero from the spanish band Imán Califato Independiente used one all over their first album, alongside an Elka Rhapsody and a 'Tron. He played some fantastic stuff on that album! Definitely worth a punt if you can find a copy!
what a beautiful sound. no words.
Nearly 19,000 views well deserved, AnalogAudio1
Gorgeous,ethereal sounds!
thanks... I also love these two albums - on these the Syntorchestra was heavily used!
Dude, this is magic. Portamento, VCOs, VCF, Mono+Poly and a bunch of good voices inside a casing this small. I'm happy for you, dude! This baby kicks Microkorg/Alesis Micron asses! Take care of it!
Simply beautiful!!
Pretty sure this made an appearance on the Besombes / Rizet lp 'Pôle' - which is fantastic if you haven't heard it!
@douro20 I used a delay from Roland DEP-5. To answer your question below, the Syntochestra is not a "real" synthesizer. Basically it is a preset synth combined with a simple polyphonic section.
This amazing demo and some records of Klaus Schulze are the reason why I bought the syntorchestra!
A really underrated synth from the past!
The only thing I don't like about mine, is that I have to tune it very often while playing even when it is more than 30 minutes on.
Il faut que les oscilo vco chaufe un peut pour la stabiliter.
Someone send this video to Behringer. I would die for a clone of one of these.
jasonmoyer yes, if behringer made an EMS Synthi and this I would be declared a hermit.
@@graxjpg EMS Synthi is being cloned. Have faith in the Church of Uli
Jumping Man I’ve heard the rumors, I would go help solder mine if they’d let me!
Behringer can never achieve the indescripancies in sound of these originals. Also if parts were made to the highest standard or in ways that are outdated and done then but not now, in comparison to mass produced to a cheap budget audience, they will never ever be as rich and wonderful. The land of make believe - Behringer.
@@antonisatwork never say never. There's nothing magical in these machines. Everything can be replicated.
wow that is incredible sounding
this one also seems to be brought to earth by UFO! what a fantastic sound!
Wow! I accidentally had the title track of Cluster's Großes Wasser playing on the background without noticing. For a second I thought I was listening to an excellent Ash Ra Temple / Tangerine Dream / Klaus Schulze tribute, it sounded that convincing. Excellent sounding synth, all and all!
Wov! Such a space sound !
Love this! The sound is amazing! Actually I adooore analogue synth ...
Something about analog chaos and imperfection that makes sonic magic. Great sounding instrument - I would imagine that these (and similar) couldn't be given away in the 1990s - but command a king's ransom now!
Hello
quanto ho desiderato quel gioiello della Farfisa... molti anni fa. grazie per questo post...
beautiful sounding synth
According to the YT count, I am the 39, 601st viewer!
I am very happy to have the honour! This is absolute Genius!
Truly fantastic. I want to not be at work and at home in front of my synths RIGHT NOW.
Simply Beautiful sound..New Age, progressive style.
Best regards for your choice!
You were right... such sounds are REALLY unique! No other keyboards has these leads and pads you show here. It sounds really heavenly sometimes. Really best regards! I never heard such things from an electric synthesizer.
Good lord, can this thing put out some smooth sounds. Totally blown away.
It is a very sweet sounding machine. Love it :)
I'm a huge Klaus Schulze fan and really enjoyed the "Moondawn" sounds you were using between the 4 and 6 minute marks here. I also heard some similar sounds to Manuel Gottsching (Ashra)'s album "New Age Of Earth" played here. Great demonstration of the Syntorchestra!!!
Doubt you will see this since your comment is so old, but I agree, KS is my hero and the reason I started playing synths.
@@zachhaywood1564 I saw your comment to my 13 year old comment. Klaus Schulze is one of my heroes too. I was very very sad to hear of his passing earlier this year. He was a genius.
This would be really nice for a prog rock band, or some retro fantasy film soundtrack. So many possibilities, all gold.
there are rivers of Vangelis oozing out of this
what a lovely sound it make from it year 1975 with delay wow won me over :)
Really great stuff!
Wow. Never have seen or heard one of those before. Very cool instrument. I used to have a FARFISA FAST 3 ... wish I had one of these!
Beautiful tone! I love Farfisas but must admit I've never heard of one of these!
Tout simplement magnifique !!!
That is so beautiful. I need one!
That was an excerpt from Klaus Schulze's album "Moondawn".
Wonderful. tank you. A rare beast.
Nice playing !!!! It`s like Mindphaser of Klaus Schulze from 1976 from album Moondawn . Beautiful!!!!
OMG, this sounds great :O
I really want one of these ,doubt if im alone after this presentation
The ARP Soloist spawned many look-alikes from competing manufacturers. But this one is too cool, after all it is a Farfisa.
bought 1 for 300 euros yesterday :) amazing sounding string machine. with a spring reverb attached .. bliss ...
I think it was also used by Michael Rother (Kraftwerk,NEU!,Harmonia,...) on the 1975's LP NEU!'75 (in the opening song "Isi" for instance).
Great video and playing. I liked the way you started it. It's a fantastic sounding instrument. Those tabs below the keys look like they could be very fragile. Really an interesting design though. I can definitely hear Klaus in there.
Nice Classic Synth!!
Great Demo, thanks ...
@nickhirst999
Nearly 38, 000 views well deserved! Fantastic demo of a fantastic keyboard. In a word Fantastic!
Very nice,thanks!
Sounds Beautiful.
This keyboard reminds me the CS80, because it is so warm and deep. Even when the sound is a little more harsh, it is allways in the sweet spot overall.
1:06 What an awesome lead sound! Especially when you play the lowest "C"-key.
im so jealous - this sounds amazing- i have been going all analog and looking for all the odd stuff outside all the usual big boys- moog roland oberheim etc- stuff like this the logan even the crumar performer intrigue me more but this is really that classic mid 70s sound ala schulze td jarre etc- brilliant
My parents gave me one for the end of the secondary school.
It was awesome.
Wow, I love it.
You now have another fan Mr!
I love this machine !
Sounds great. 👍😎🇨🇦
Brilliant keyboard
@rizz7604 It does not have split. But you can layer mono and poly, like in the video. I can't remember the settings exactly, but it's easy to see in the video, which preset tabs were pressed and also the slider positions.
Where haz thiz wondrous creation been hiding...and Smeerlappen, I totally agree, string-synthz are luxuriously sensuous
the ASHRA " New Age of earth & Correlations " Sounds , very good
Nice ! Vangelis use this string machine a lot in album "albedo 0.39"
I love this video. I often come back to hear it again. :)
Would be great for an Italian horror film soundtrack. :)
MUZBOZ Games Watch "Il notti del terrore", the soundtrack of this movie is based on the Synthorchestra - and its an italian horror movie ;D
Sounds like it has life. Thx
Great video footage, enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing.

Klaus Schulze ab Minute 4 ! :-)
no. What the Eminent was for JMJ, was the Syntorchestra for Klaus Schulze. He used it a lot in the seventies.
La mejor interpretacion de moondaown de klaus schulze.perfecto
Drat - another fine synth that I missed back in the day - maybe Cherry Audio will do an emulation of it !!!
That sounds fucking amazing. Nice find.
lovely thing!
@smokesometea
yes! On the whole "Syntorchestra".
You can tell it still has some of the organ tone in it.
Yeah I dig it. I want one!
instant 70's Schulze
yeah! :-)
@Theotim92
Yep; this and similar synthesizers were mainstays of television music back in the 1970s.
It has a nice mellow sound.
Wwoww... Didn't know Farfisa made synths...
Now how freaking hard would it be to reissue something this cool? It's got an easy physical package design and is very versatile sounding, not like the crap they make today. 5 stars!
love farfisa
thank you for the nice comment... :-)
I had one of these back in the day. Maybe '76/'77? Think it was a couple/few years old by then.It wasn't the be all-end all but it had a few really good combo sounds. And there wasn't really a lot of decent available synths with that had a poly section. I think crumar had a decent board then as well. One awesome sound I loved was the poly section trumpet paired with the synth trumpet patch. Both tweaked a bit, together they created a really sweet high pitched sine wave thing that would automatically pan back and forth. A great stereo effect. If it had come along after midi it would have been a nice addition to just about any other keyboard. Oh yeah, and it was very light, compact and portable.
I don't know what the keybordist used but parts of the album Liliam High by the band Twin Age sound a lot like this demo between 4:30 and 6:00. Hard album to find but i really love it.
thanks...
