I remember playing on steel pans when I was in school. Our principal who was our music teacher loved all sorts of african and Caribbian ect. Instruments, but steel pans where by far my favourite things to play. I miss those times 😩 Good job man btw much love from Finland ✌️!

The Steelpan is a family of instruments just like the strings. So you have the single Lead Steelpan with all notes in one single drum. Then you have the Double Seconds, that's what I have, which has the same full chromatic register but it has some deeper/lower range of notes because of the bigger size notes.

You can't really tune these yourself unless you have been trained. A lot of people have to wait for someone that can tune to be in the area. When I used to play, once a year our tuner would be in the state and the pans would get tuned then.
