great content, Tommie. I'm in the transition stage from knee steering to carving. I'd love for you to do a nerdy techie video on fore-aft leg pressure for those of us in this stage.
Thanks so much for this video! I noticed that when you're riding, you spend less time riding on the toe side than heel side. I do the same, is this normal?
Just went for my 2nd day boarding, and going from heels to toes is super difficult for me, the timing of this video is too perfect!!!
Hope you stayed at it and if so your doing good right now 🤙🏾
Really helpful. Been snowboarding for 3 years. This is so true
Man this is what I really needed this past weekend. I was able to transition just like you said on the first method and is great on wider open areas, but when I got into the trees and moguls, I wasn't able to transition as fast and ultimately couldn't do it without falling or stopping. The second method is what I really needed to learn and will be doing that next time around! Thanks!
Hi Tommie, I am learning on my own (am really nerdy) and kinda pick up things with intuition and your video made me pick up the small mechanics that I was missing. The way u teach this wide audience is great, as you do explain it in the most simple way for a beginners without actual dept in mechanics. Thank you u rock!
How are you doing these really short turns without catching an edge??? Are you still letting your board go flat for a split second when changing edges or is it just hard to catch an edge if you’re at high speed with your board basically always going down the fall line?
Yes sir. I know I'm not Tommie but I love helping people learn!! He does them fast but you go flat first at least I do and as you get better at where your weight is distributed it almost isn't noticable that you go flat before getting onto your other edge
the problem is the exact moment of transition, when the board becomes flat and I usually catch an edge there, before being able to change my edge
Iv got a hang of heel to toe, but when I’m going fast on black diamond im having trouble transitioning from my toe to heel.
How do you have your bindings set up? I used to have the same issue because my bindings were both close to 15 degrees toward the direction I was riding. Made heel to toe super snappy but the latter very sluggish
Hi tommie, great video always, thanks for the tips!👍👍👍 Do you have any plan of making a series of videos that talk about the benifit of different board shapes (camber, banana, etc) and unique board techs (3BT, magne-traction, etc)? Thanks!
@@tommiebennett Thanks! Looking forward to that!
Yewww
perfect timing for me like u read my mind on the exact video i needed from you💯🔥🤘🏻
Let's goooo
TB- do the snow conditions play into what kind of turns to use? Can you do those retraction turns on groomers?
you are an awesome teacher I can't wait to apply what I just learned, I have a hard time going from heal edge to toe edge and it drives me nuts, but the turning of the knee and the body position, I think it will really help me. Thank you for you tips, it is much appreciated.
I was working on this today with an instructor, and your video helped illustrate the concept very well.
Is that turn technique for carving, skidding or both?
The way this guy talks reminds me of Alton Brown
I like knee steering personally. I use other methods as well.
I just starting snowboarding 2 weeks ago so this was vary useful!
Thanks again for a great nerdy video tommie 👍 spending more time riding this year so the regular vids are awesome 👍 I’m carving turns but efficiently, so the drills are really beneficial 👍👌🏂🤜🏻🤛🏻
Is this considered down unweighting?
Very helpful thanks
Whenever i try to execute heel edge turn, my board turns all the way upp making me face the hill top.
And the same happens when i try to brake on heel edge. I need help
Splendid😍!!! You are missing out = Promo'SM!!!
Plz do more nerdy videos I only started 2 days ago and these in depth video of what to actually do with ur knees is freaking perfect I was trying to go to toe side my putting twist in my board with just my toes and it wasn’t working
Yooo rad video Tommie, very helpful.
Liked the detail into the snappy turns... 👌
Shoulder position is the key take for me on this one.
How are you not catching an edge going into a heel to toe while still in the same direction? Like you were pointing 10 o clock, you went small to tall from heel, then went tall to small to toe while still pointing at 10 o clock.
as awesome as possible 😂 good one. Can't wait to check all this out.
Tommie! I’m having troubles switching edges when i am on narrow runs. I tend to favor whatever side that is against the wall. Any tips? Thanks!
That is great info and so helpful.. Thanks for sharing with us. I will try and practice this :)
Nice video 👍
What brand is your mitts that you’re wearing?

How do I get tht hoodie duder?
Going to try tomorrow!!!
Quite useful lesson
great content, just outta curiosity, is the hoodie water proof? ain't it gonna get wet when we fall?
I can already do this riding regular but this is perfect for practicing riding switch and getting switch closer to the level of my regular riding.
I always appreciate the nerd Tommie!
i'm trying to do the same. it's tough riding for years and your regular riding is so far advanced that you don't even really think about what you are doing and trying to apply it to switch. my switch riding was about 10 yards max for either hitting or landing jumps or as an escape. linking turns switch was always an adventure. tommie does an awesome job breaking it down, i couldn't do it without him.
