He’s trying to throw his waist around. He should control with toe and heel pressure and point where he wants to go. He’s throwing his turns hard and shouldn’t keep this habit.
I do, because I just started trying switch turns. My brain was resisting those first toe-side turns something fierce, especially trying to start the turn properly by knee-steering, not just flinging the back leg around.
He was putting weight on his back foot, and whenever he started to lose balance, he twisted his waist and back foot around to turn and brake. He should put weight on his front foot and let the back foot follow the flow of the board, right?
I am happy for him seeing he can do the toe turn, coz, I am just be the same as him cannot do the toe turn😢. It turned out that I was trying to do the toe turn from the left side and failed all the time as I am regular and my previous instructions is the goofy one😅
I'm learning right now, at the ripe age of 33 after skiing my whole life. These videos are so fucking awesome. Every time I watch one I just want to strap back in and go. Thanks Kevin!
i went snowboarding for the very first time last night.. started to someone get the hang of the heel turn towards the end, but i had a lot of trouble with the toes.. every time i would either fall backwards on my ass or falling forward to my knees.. what am i doing wrong?
I just wanted to say thank you very much for these videos. I just had my second day on a snowboard and at the young age of 46 ha ha I linked some turns today and it feels great. Thank you so much Kevin.
Great! It's never too late for us. I am turning 40 this year and had my first day today and I lost count of how many times I fall plus a bruise on my knee but I never gave up and finally I got the feel of it. Heading for 2nd day. lol And if you happen to be in Italy (I live in the Italian preAlps and Alps is not far from where I am located, feel free to have me as your test subject :) )
Are you goofy stance (right foot forward) or regular stance (Left foot forward). Do what's comfortable for you... if you're learning from someone whose the opposite stance than you just reverse the shoulders/leg instructions
Stand with your feet slightly apart and have someone give you a hard push backwards. Whatever food you step back with to keep from falling backwards is the foot you should ride back.on snowboard. Foot that stays in place will be your front foot on snowboard. Some people are comfortable on both ( reg or goofy).
@Herbsy420 this. Except thats advice for the young guys lol. I'm still a beginner. I bought a board because the house was going out of business. Everything was 70% off. I knew it was a stiff camber board. But I loved the battle angel anime art work. People were like don't worry. If you can ride that you can ride anything. But honestly I'm tired of eating shit all the time.
@@respond_code3 I bought a soft board after less than 2 month practice I need to buy a stiff board because soft boards are very unstable when you going little faster..
I just kept saying to myself, he's using too much of his hips and not enough of his knees.
Unlocking basic techniques is what makes me keep coming back to this. Even though its tiring, its so fun for a beginner

Renting a beginner board would make this dudes life easier, and that structure sounds awesome
Will say I’m really stoked to hear that structure this year! If it’s kook I don’t care
His problem is he's leaning back losing control he needs to lean forward. Surprised this wasn't said.
I probably said it off camera. But definitely the most important thing
I hope thats your board, kevin... i wont be able to sleep knowing a newbee has got an Arthur Longo board before me!!
😂 I only had two boards with me in New Zealand and my park board would have been to small for Chris.
nice one chris good progress
Did he learn on the capita aeronaut? xD
😂 he did!
I need the next video on blues and blacks
Next time!
more scary than i thought it would be....each turn is just a whisker from catching the edge...
ehhhh not really, you're over thinking edge catches.
@@HyenDry naw. he's right. He was counter rotating way too much.
I don't remember it being this difficult, thank god!
imagine experiencing this again 😅😬

That’s what a lot of the snowboarding videos taught me. Especially the ones from Malcolm Moore channel.
Grazie da Italia 🇮🇹

I’m right foot dominant but I feel way more comfortable riding goofy.
What binding and shoes was he learning on? Keen to know as I want to buy my first snowboard boot + binding on my YES Basic board. (PS I am a beginner)

I'm only a begginer too but looks like his weight is too far back and he is turning by counter rotatation rather than steering with his front foot?
Kevin, where will you be in April?

where are the other videos?
If you are ever in Colorado and want a new rider to teach feel free to use me as a test subject! I volunteer as tribute!
Awesome, thanks!
Why right foot goes first down the hill?
Maybe coz he is goofy?
Where are the other videos of the serie?
He made them years ago. It will take a bit of searching to find the other ones.
Why do you have to go right foot in front? Can you not go left foot first when learning if it feels more comfortable?

Why would you have him learning on one of the most stiff traditional camber boards on the market?
becasue if he can go down with that board, he can go down with every board
.........maybe that's the board Chris owned? Maybe Kevin didn't show up with that board just to get online criticism by showing a newbie how to ride?

It’s not that stiff

Thoughts on the Aeronaut 161 (25.9) with 11.5 boot? I’m still going to run it lol
It will be close
Weight?
I’m 220. Not so much the weight but toe/heal drag I’m looking at
