I had one of these when I was a kid 20 years ago and bought it for $25 from a store that didn't know what I could do. loved it back then but It was so long ago I don't even know where it ended up. :/ I recently saw them selling for anywhere from $1000-$1600. :/ Always hang onto your old pedals, you will miss them when they disappear into borrowed borrowed land.
Wow, what a great sounding pedal. I was trying to figure out how Billy got that sweepy tone in the verses of Thru the Eyes of Ruby. I saw he was using one of these at the time. So my best guess, from what I'm hearing in the demo here, this is the pedal used in that song. But boy, it's so musical and versatile.
That was an inside joke as I understand it. They would say something was used on everything just for a laugh. Didn't think square wave would be useful but it sound cool.
Correct, he did use it for the clean guitar tracks in Thru the Eyes of Ruby. He used them on another track during the pre-chorus with the speed turned way up. And the phaser is all over Siamese Dream. The comment Vig made of "This is one of the secrets to our secret sound / we use it on everything" may be stretching it, but there's some very subtle phasing going on on several tracks on that album. If you get a Big Muff, a Mutron Biphase, and an EHX Microsynth, you're on track to get most of the sounds from that album.
Andre CarryOn There are 5 for sale on Reverb.com right now. Haven't checked eBay yet. I personally would just get the Mutron II Phasor. If you're patient enough you can win one of eBay for under $300.
Best explanation I've heard online!
9:43 wtf was that AMAZZZING

wow $25! you need to track down who you lent it to!
I just inherited 5 of them!
It might be an idea to have a balance pedal instead of the toggles, with wirings permanently on and pedal controlling the mixture between them.
That's a cool idea! I think you could do something like that with a Pigtronix Keymaster.
Cv control : mission expressionator+ expression pedal

David R yeah I think the claim of them using it for everything is nonsense but it definitely got used!

@@gdrugg2006 He's talking about a Mutron II Phasor, not the Bi-Phase isn't he?
I bought two in 98 for £100 each
Sold them for £1050
I just prefer the sound of a small stone. I let a doppelganger go too because it wasnt small stone-ish enough
Wow!
