    You could plug that Rhodes into a microwave and it would still sound great.

    First of all I just want to say that you are an absolutely top-notch keys player and thank you for your videos! Having played keys for many years, I am still nowhere near your technique/playing level and I hope to one day be able to play as funky and awesome as you!
    Second of all, as much I love your channel, I also hate this video; I own a modified Phase 90 which I thought I really dug, but after watching this video I was immediately disappointed with it and had to hunt down and buy an original Mu-Tron Phasor, now my wallet isn't happy. Haha, but really, thank you sooooo much for these videos! I have a Rhodes Mark 1 and have been picking up pedals that would go nicely with it, your videos are excellent and give me an in-depth solid idea of what to pick up. I hope you will do more pedal demos with the Rhodes.

      the mxr phase 100 is somewhat like this pedal, in the sense of a knob that switches in between different phase settings, and a knob for speed. but the phasor sounds different of course. I ended up having Phase 100's and i started to fall in love with them.

    Love the Mu-Tron Phasor sound.
    Will see how close I can come to this with my Yamaha YC-61, and built in effects.

      Yeah I never took any keyboard lessons, I flat out suck at playing one. I do admit to get a little jealous watching Mootsie play (among others). I know he put in the time and has the talent. I really don't have that musical Gene in me so I struggle at any instrument. Plus I have arthritis in my hands which makes it all that much harder. Way to go as usual Mootsie!

      It's never too late to pick it up. It takes time and dedication, but the more you learn and the more comfortable you become with the instrument, the more rewarding it becomes. Try it man.

      @mootbooxle  6 років тому

      Jenzzeman thank you very much! The Phasor 2 seems to be harder to find. It's on my wish list! So you find that it's considerably different from the original?

    • @Jenzzeman
      @Jenzzeman 6 років тому +2

      The difference is pretty minor. I can get dead-on close to the L / M / H settings of the depth switch in your video with setting the depth knob to 6 / 8 / 10 on the Phasor 2. For a more 'Zawinul-like' sound, the feedback knob comes in handy. I have around 3 most the time.Jenzz

      Mike Beigel, the creator of the original pedal has resurrected his business and pedal line. There is a 3rd version of the the pedal now that runs on 9 volts, and it's a lot smaller too!
      www.mu-tron.com/products/phasor-iii/
      No need for paying elevated prices for version 2 from vintage dealers. Mike Beigels new version stays true to the qualities we love about the originals.

    "fluid" was a very good way to describe it... I would goes as far as to say watery, :) It's funny when you get hooked on a pedal and you can't really describe what it is that others of it's type lack. My personal fave Phaser is the Small Stone. It has a sound that I've only ever really heard the Behringer Vintage Phaser approximate well -- a quality I've only ever been able to describe as 'chewy', haha.

  • @Ston247
    @Ston247 7 років тому +4

    Yeah I owned three of these. What people don't seem to realize is the Mutron ll is not a true phasor. It's a cross between phasor and chorus/flanger. Which is why most phasors cannot duplicate the mutron sound. It's sort of a specialized pedal. I only use mine for specific reasons (songs). They're BIG pedals and not as sturdy as they seem. WATCH OUT for the on/off switch ! It's mounted directly onto the circuit board. If it get's damaged by dirt, water or by dropping.... kiss your Mutron goodbye ! No bullsh*t.
    Anyway, for "clean" funk/R&B I stick to the Roland PH-2. I still use my Small Stone and the Ibanez PH-7 ain't bad either. But the Mutron ll really is a special box.

    • @Phil_Trujeque
      @Phil_Trujeque 6 років тому +2

      Nasher188... I recently had to re-cap my Mu-Tron Phasor due to leaky caps, and I can assure you, the On/Off rocker switch on mine doesn’t mount to the board.
      It mounts directly to the top panel, with its leads soldered to the board. The rocker switch itself is flimsy, yet I’ve never broken one on either of the two Phasor’s I’ve owned.
