I purchased a metal, We are memoire keepers metal mat that goes on top of the cricut mat. You use magnets to hold paper and foil down. Keeps foil very flat. And does not leave any missing spots when foil is transferred. Works perfectly. I purchased this mat from Joannes on clearance for $10
I'm SO glad I stumbled across this before I purchased the We R Memory foil transfer kit! I had no idea that Cricut had a transfer adaptor, so now that I know, I will be ordering the Cricut one! Thanks!! Very informative!
Hello, thank you for this demonstration. I was gifted the foil quill and did not know how to use it. Now that you have compared Cricuit Foil to the Foil Quill. I will invest in the Cricuit. Thanks
Hi, thanks for the idea. I can try this but it does look like the foil of the design has been removed from the section of foil. I hope I've explained that - but when I hold the foil up the whole pattern seems to be removed so maybe it's dragged a bit and skipped and I need to try even harder to have the foil completely pond like smooth. Thanks for the tip though, I will give it a go :)
Leathers need hotness and pressure at the same time, therefore, do you think it is possible that the Foil Quill system can be used in the pressure holding of the machine? (I'm a bookbinder and so if I buy this I need it to simulate the hot foil stamping that we do on the books). Do you think that it can work on goat leather? Can you produce a stamping with 34 pt Times New Roman fonts? Thanks
Hi, do you mean the scoring tool? It fits in clamp A and I don't think it would have enough pressure to apply the foil as it struggles to even score for me quite often. This foil tool has been designed to use in clamp B where enough pressure can be applied to transfer the foil from the sheet to the material below. The size of the tips mean the line transferred can be 3 different thicknesses. I hope this answers your question :)
There is a reason to let the WRMK Tips heat for 5 minute. The foil is a HEAT transfer and the warmer the tip the better the transfer. so the skipping was due to that. So not really a valid comparision.
Sorry I’m a bit confused as I always wait 5 minutes to preheat the tips of my We R Memory Keepers foil quill tips. I even put a timer on for this test. I’ll rewatch to make sure I make that clear in the video. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi, just rewatched and at 13:33 I say the pens have to preheated for 5 minutes before you use them. Sorry if you missed that but I definitely preheated them before my test.
Yes, you are correct, Sorry I missed that. I just saw you putting the quills in one after the other and missed the part near the beginning where you were heating them all at the same time.
Nothing to add, just thanks for the lovely Kiwi accent - from an Aussie :D Eh, I do have something to add - it seems that both systems are faulty. Literally hoping that the Circut Joy foil transfer system is better but ... maybe not?

Thanks Donna, I have the magnetic mat too but still need to use it. I'll definitely give it a try to see if it gets the foil smooth for me. Thanks!

Excellent comparison. I have the WMC foil quill, but think I will invest in the Cricut tool.
Thank you i have a Minc but this helps . Happy crafting
does this foil transfer tool and foil work on acrylic sheets?
Thanks for the video. Have you considered changing the number of time the foil quill draws an image? That might make a difference.

Very very useful - thank you for an excellent comparison.
Thanks so much Julie 😁

There are handheld versions of the foil quills available now, including one with a calligraphy tip. You could use them freehand or use stencils.
This was so helpful! Thank You!
thanks for the great demonstration! And I have the same question as Katerina, anyone knows?
Hi any reason why the creasing tool wouldn't work? Is there anything special about this new cricut attachment?

Can you please tell me what brands of foil that you used with which tool please?
Thank you for this great video!! Helped me a lot :)
That’s lovely to hear, thank you 😀
Great job. Thank you.
Thanks very much for watching!
Very helpful thank you
Thanks for a fantastic review
I tried to use the foil kit but it’s coming out looking faded
Great video. I have the cricut foil tool and I too would like to know if I can use the WRMK heat activated foil.
No. One is transfered with heat and other is pressure so the foil you mentioned will not work properly with cricut

Hi, will it fit in the Cricut Joy?
No
@@Moonchilling Thanks, I hope they make one for the Cricut Joy. For now my daughter is using the foil quill on the Cricut Joy.
Can I use any foil for cricut tools or only genuine?
Using the WMRK foil quill will void your warranty if your Cricut machine is less than a year old.
@@EpixAndroid I mean not a tool but only foil? can i use any other hot stamping foil or it will not work with pressure?
@@kate9339 The Cricut foil is the only one you can use as it is not a heat transfer but a pressure transfer.
I’ve read that silhouette has a pressure foil as well as cricut and they’re usually a touch cheaper.
@@EpixAndroid the warranty is only 1 yr.
You have a USB plug on the side of your Cricut
