- Here is the bonus round segment from Super Password. The contestant has a chance to win $50,000. Which is the 2nd highest jackpot. Did the contestant win? Bert Convy hosts. Michel Young gives out the clues.
Awesome! I have never seen this Super Password Win! WOW! I thought $50,000 was won only twice (I think). Keep on bringing the great clips, pressmin.
I just saw Michael Young on a "WHEW" rerun!!! And I had not seen him in decades. Now I see him twice on the same day. And here on a Password on UA-cam.
...and Michael Young is in his 80's now...he was not a very prolific actor however...but sure showed up on a lot of game shows as a celebrity guest.
3:04 *You Guys 👦 Won $50,000!*
It happen 6 times actually
Michael Young was one of them, the others were Comedian Marty Cohn from Solid Gold, Famed Actress Marcia Wallace, Famed Actress Sally Struthers, Edie McClurg and Comedienne Marsha Warfield of Night Court Fame
So did Edie McClurg
The record amount won at SP was $55K, won at least once w/ Janis Paige in 1986.
@@jehobden And once by a fugitive.
@@nextbarker2702 I added it and thanks
Plus, there's a video clip of Edie and $50,000 on here
Two of the times that $50K was won, it was M through V. Sally Struthers had the same ten letters.
quotation was very tough.
Those were easy words for 50.000
The celebrity is Michael Young who was the host of "Kids Are People Too"
And host of Florida Lottery's Flamingo Fortune.
He was also one of the first hosts of the Miss Teen USA competition
He hosted "Kids Are People Too" Twice he hosted the show and then left and Randy Hamilton took over as Host then he Left and Michael came back as Host
Bakersfield, California
My hometown
For "moose", I would have said Bullwinkle.
*DING!* - using an SFX from the "Pyramid" shows.
I was playing along again, covering up the words, and the only word I didn't get was "quotation."
"Eatery": Perfect.
@chuckers40 and he also hosted The New Generation which were seen in reruns on The Family Channel (before it became Fox Family and later abc family)
Eric sure is smug! XD
Should quote have counted.
This was the show's 3rd $50,000 win, wasn't it?
This happened 4 times (I think).
@tnawcwvictoria As well as the Florida Lottery game show Flamingo Fortune.
Michael Young has not acted in a very long time...
For the Record Quote is a form of the word Quotation; they gave him credit for that.
That is a hard word there
But the champ in this clip was the biggest Non-TofC winner at the time. Jim Bontempo won $76K on SP in 1988(including a record $12K cashword and Ithink a $45K endgame). He won a Lexus on Squares in 1999.
who the heck is the guy? (celebrity) never seen him before.
He hosted a show called kids are people too. He also hosted a few Miss Teen USA pageants
Michael Young
Michael Young also hosted a daytime show about soap operas.
And Kids Are People Too
mr lucky shoes hits the jackpot
This champion became the highest Non-TofC winner in SP history at the time. Marjorie Koster won $59K and change in late March-early April 1986 with Janis Paige and Richard Kline.
Who's the lady celeb?
Jennilee Harris from "Dallas"
@@matthaddock1817 She was also "Cindy" in *THREE'S COMPANY* before that.
Harrison, instead of Harris…
Jennifer Harrison. She acted in Three's Company and Dallas. She made a lot of money after that in investments.
And a semi-regular on Battlestars
RIP Bert Convy
Bert was a very lovely man. Just before you played the end game he would give you a little squeeze on the trapeziums. It was oddly relaxing. I used it now when I work with kids.
Much later in the run, Jim B. win $76K.
Kiss the shoes. XD
The best a gentleman did on Super Password, not counting the fugitive who conned his was out of $58,600.
My total was $63k, which was the highest at that time. I'm sure several beat it later on.
“fugitive who conned his way out of….”? Please enlighten…?
@@2themoon863 The fugitive in question was Kerry Ketchum, who got on the show under the assumed name “Patrick Quinn”-he was wanted for insurance fraud and various other financial crimes. A home viewer saw his appearance on the show, and notified the authorities-and when Ketchum went to pick up his prize money, he was arrested.
Since Ketchum lied about his identity to get on the show, this made him an ineligible contestant, and he did not receive his winnings.
This is why Convy was such a horrible host. Over two minutes of chitchat before the game gets underway. Sometimes it went on even longer. Horrible! But I bet the network loved it-less time for contestants to win money
