I saw them on this same tour in Louisville in '92, they opened with this song and left the stage, then ended up leaving for good like 5 minutes later. Their bodyguards got in a fight with Louis. Police Dept. after they tried to search their dressing room for drugs. Luckily got to see them 6x after that over the next 5 years, best live band I've ever seen.
This is without a doubt the best opening in the history of live rock shows ...I saw them in New Haven CT. @ The Palace Theatre...Does anyone else remember the tribal music playing as you walked in looking for your seats when the house lights were still on...That was so brilliantly done ...The whole production was BEAUTIFUL IN ITS SIMPLICITY!!....
Saw this tour in New Haven Conn ...2 this day their still one of the best bands I ever seen live!!...Great American Band!!..& alwys stayed true 2 their roots...All the respect in the world 4 never compromising!!!...
Saw this tour in Newport,Wales. Brilliant opening,stage filled with smoke,curtains drawn across front of stage,band start to play,backlit with white light,curtains open.And then WAH! Always loved the Crowes gigs,but like many other bands I like,they don't come to Wales any more. Still love 'em tho-this is the way it should be. Love,Rich.
Saw them on the "High As The Moon" tour right around this time at the Ice Arena in Seattle. This is how they were opening the show each night and it is still arguably the zenith of all my concert going experiences. At the time, they were the greatest rock and roll band on the face of planet earth.
I thing I will say about Robinson is that he has excellent taste in the guitars he uses. He has an excellent vintage guitar and vintage amp collection that all guitar players would drool and slobber over.
@srphockey11 I saw them this tour as well in Louisville, KY; they left after 1 song, no speak no slave, became a fan and saw them 8 more times live. Best live band I've ever seen, them and the original Alice in Chains.
Admittedly, we all love the guitars and Chris' primal screaming, BUT the rock behind the Crowes' lineup right here was the drummer Steve Gorman( who perfectly played Zep's stuff when the toured with Page also!) and the bass player Johnny Colt! I havent liked the other bass players nearly as well as this line up right here! But glad they are still around...
Agreed. Saw this tour in Seattle at the ice arena. To this day, it is singularly the greatest rock concert I have ever witnessed. Period. Verse. Chapter. End of story.
Yeah, that's the one. The make-up show for an earlier Houston date from that tour. That one's probably gotta be one of their most widely-circulated boots ever. Not just because it was a free broadcast, but because it really was an amazing and energetic show. The band took a major step forward and their live show to another level when they added Ford. And it really showed on that tour.
I use to live 5 minutes from these guys in Marietta, GA., so I'm not going to knock them but greatest rock band? I've seen ABB with Duane on slide, Peter Green & Danny Kirwin with Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who with Townsend in his prime and Keith Moon on drums, Procol Harem, Jefferson Airplane, Mountain with West and Felix Pappalardi on bass, and the ultimate Rock'n Roll machine, AC/DC with Bon Scott up front larger than "Rosie" in a 1000 person venue.
I agree with you brother and I'm an actual Pappy and an old paint. Any attempt to compare bands is totally negative and brings along with it some seriously bad mojo. People who think they can speak with certainty about what Duane would or wouldn't say have no idea. All three bands mentioned are so different. Apples and oranges.
LOL! They cut Marc Ford because he was smoking a cigarette! Marc Ford only appearances are in 1:15 and 3:56... smoking a cigarette!!! HAHAHAHA! The video producer may have thought "Shit! We will loose our PG-13 if we don't cut that guy smoking!"... What a shame... I was expecting to see some footage of Ford solo...
Has anyone got a copy of the Koln performance,personally i thought this(HASTM) was their best tour and if you see "My Morning Song" from this performance Chris is really trying (maybe because they knew it was a tv special) i missed out on a copy on Ebay about 8 months ago and havent sen one since.If anyone has it post it and make a middle aged man very happy.Managed to get tickets for the Manchester gig in July when they goodbye to the UK. May Heckle n Jeckle crow for a long time to come yet!
Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, and Berry Oakley with ABB were the best jam rockers of all. They could turn a 4 minute album track into a 30 minute groove jam without even thinking about it. Listen to Mountain Jam from The Atlanta Pop Festival LIVE CD,7-3-70 and 7-5-70.
If it was during the "Remedy" closer, then yeah. But, I haven't heard that tape since probably 1996, so, I don't remember the whole story. That show was miles beyond the radio brodcast of the L.A. show from '91, though.
Don't you just hate it when the camera zooms into the wrong guitarist during solo's? Great video by the way, love the energy of these early crowes videos.
do someone knows somethin' about this video? is there a full lenght live show available on dvd??? i gonna see crowes live on 17 may... can't wait!!! it will be my first time!
As far as Georgia bands go, Collective Soul are 3x better musicians than the Black Crowes could ever hope to be. The Crowes don't deserve to lick the mud off of Duane's boots.
WTF on ZERO, absolutely zero on Marc's solo, he's is funkin' gunslinger mellow and rips it, and we get Young R underneath shots and albeit great, too much prancing of Chris, in lieu of Marc. A shame. No, shameful.
I'm convinced at this point in time they were the greatest rock n roll band of all time
I saw them on this same tour in Louisville in '92, they opened with this song and left the stage, then ended up leaving for good like 5 minutes later. Their bodyguards got in a fight with Louis. Police Dept. after they tried to search their dressing room for drugs. Luckily got to see them 6x after that over the next 5 years, best live band I've ever seen.
I was there to, It was march of '93. They were kicked out of KY for like 5 years
This is without a doubt the best opening in the history of live rock shows ...I saw them in New Haven CT. @ The Palace Theatre...Does anyone else remember the tribal music playing as you walked in looking for your seats when the house lights were still on...That was so brilliantly done ...The whole production was BEAUTIFUL IN ITS SIMPLICITY!!....
Love Chris in this video! The whirling dervish! Great song, great band!(highly under rated!) great tour! definitely the crowes in their Prime!
He is so DAMN LAZY with the vocals. It's awful.
Dancing during the guitar solo made my neck hurt
Saw this tour in New Haven Conn ...2 this day their still one of the best bands I ever seen live!!...Great American Band!!..& alwys stayed true 2 their roots...All the respect in the world 4 never compromising!!!...
Saw them for the first time in 92 and was blown away...so I went to see them again the next night and have been hooked ever since.
Southern harmony tour. Been there. Great, great concert.
Especially love the persian carpets...

I thing I will say about Robinson is that he has excellent taste in the guitars he uses. He has an excellent vintage guitar and vintage amp collection that all guitar players would drool and slobber over.
THIS is rock n roll.
god these guys are the best. just saw them in San Francisco-got to meet them at their meet and greet. nice guys too.
@srphockey11

Judging by the comments that show ended early because of a drug search LOL
In October 1992 at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, TX. They rocked the house... Still my all-time best concert.
This is just freakini awesome...Thanks for posting!
Untouchable open.
SICK means totally awesome.
This video and The Black Crowes are SICK.
Admittedly, we all love the guitars and Chris' primal screaming, BUT the rock behind the Crowes' lineup right here was the drummer Steve Gorman( who perfectly played Zep's stuff when the toured with Page also!) and the bass player Johnny Colt! So sad but 10 years later Ford is gone Johnny Colt is gone and I think Gorman also
Best. Opener. Period.
oct,92 Chattanooga Tennessee !!!! The Black Crowes high as the moon tour ! do that ! memorial auditorium

I was there! Incredible appearance. Their best line up ever.
Very nice!!!!
BRUTAL!!!!!!
@ViciousSymmetry Nobody jams like Marc Ford!
A super sick solo by Marc Ford, and the camera stays on Chris and Rich the whole time! What a crock!
Still a great performance.
i can also recommend the 7-7-93 show in the paradiso in Amsterdam. Specially the Thorn intro with Ford on slide is outstanding...
The best opening of Crowes
Absolutely sick.
Remember the live radio broadcast of the Houston show from that tour? Fucking incredible!
Love this song better live
There it is, that's the stuff.
I use to live 5 minutes from these guys in Marietta, GA., so I'm not going to knock them but greatest rock band? hell yeah ! I miss Marc and the Crowes together. =/
WOW! They used to be so aggresive! Rock and roll!
Now..uhhh..that'd be rock n roll

THIS VID IS HOT AS HELL. On the fuckin money.
my boot says 2-6-93
Houston Texas
It’s a crime there were no cameras on Marc while he was soloing 😅
What happened to rock n roll?The Black Crowes used it up in the 90's and early 200's.
Don't you just hate it when the camera zooms into the wrong guitarist during solo's? Great video by the way, love the energy of these early crowes videos.
do someone knows somethin' about this video? is there a full lenght live show available on dvd???

@dobrome it means its awesome.
@dobrome Maybe someone has mentioned it, but it means cool, sweet, etc.
@LesPaulCustom79 Huh?
One of the best, if not the best, R&R openings. I can see why Jimmy Page gravitated to them..alas
@dobrome They usually are trying to something is awesome.
@ViciousSymmetry Marc Kungfu Ford
isn't that the one where he tells the story of him being a painter of a prison?
That one's cool, yeah
Biblical
Brother Rich is acting like Kirk Hammet or something
As far as Georgia bands go, Collective Soul are 3x better musicians than the Black Crowes could ever hope to be. The Crowes don't deserve to lick the mud off of Duane's boots.
The last great band in the 20th century IMO. Everyone now is copying earlier songs.
WTF on ZERO, absolutely zero on Marc's solo, he's is funkin' gunslinger mellow and rips it, and we get Young R underneath shots and albeit great, too much prancing of Chris, in lieu of Marc. A shame. No, shameful.
