Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to finish the entire 5-minute short, and it had to be condensed to only the first scene. So I've put it together with the rest of the storyboards to showcase the full journey of these characters for now, until I get a chance to perhaps finish the short someday!

"NATÏVE" follows the story of Sascha, the motherly coyote, and Naïchi the orphaned bobcat kitten, and the unlikely bond they develop. Scene 1 - Find introduces the characters and establishes the beginning to this heartwarming, bittersweet tale of growing up and following your own path.
With Florida being the setting, I want to subtly bring awareness to our underrepresented wildlife as a more meaningful message, while keeping the story light-hearted and grounded in the emotions and situations of these specific characters. My hope is for anyone to be able to relate to the themes in NATÏVE and to see a bit of themselves in this story.
This short was a labor of love, created in one semester from concept to finished animation for my Advanced Experimental Animation course. The project highlights much of the preproduction aspects, such as script, character design, and storyboards. "NATÏVE" was created using a blend of digital animation and traditionally painted watercolor backgrounds. The project was animated solely on iPad using Procreate.

This looks like such a touching story, especially since it transcends the bonds between species. And the animation is so fluently done...it's fantastic! I do hope you'll be able to finish it someday...this shows a lot of promise with the available storyboard in progress. Keep up the good work!

This is very beautiful, what program do you use ?
I animated this fully in Procreate! The editing was done mainly in Premiere, with a couple shots requiring After Effects (mainly used for the animatic portion). All of the backgrounds are traditionally painted watercolors. c:
Beginning of Story:
Sacha: "I'm sorry Naïchi, but your mum can't be with you anymore. Come on now, Auntie Sacha will look after you now." 😢😭
Years Later:
Sacha: "Well now dearie, it's time you knew the truth, you are not really a Coyote, you are actually a Bobcat. I found you as a baby lying next to real mother. She died in a hunter's trap."
Naïchi: "Why did mum die Auntie?"
Sacha: "Because there was no one to help her. But you lived & she wanted you to live."
Flash forward to the day when Naïchi is full grown & Sacha is proud as punch & barks loudly as her adopted niece/nephew goes out into the world.
Sacha: "Well my old friend, your baby has grown & will now begin his/her part in the Life Cycle."
