Water kills it for a different reason: though it's transparent, it still decreases the light level below 4 under it, and grass dies when it's too dark. After what happened to Impulse, falling out of the world and losing his gear, I feel like the Hole Network should be upgraded: every hole should have a detection when someone falls or flies through it, which quickly splashes a potion of slow fall on them. That way they have more time to switch to elytra if they weren't wearing it.

btw Tango., I feel like the easiest short term fix would be, items requested that don't get picked up - get sent back to the warehouse. The system can always request them again later! btw you don't need a glow under the hole. You just need a bell to highlight the mob. Or a glow squid.
Neither of those ideas for the hole would work unfortunately. Squid would suffocate and the only mobs that glow with a bell come from pillager raids, which would be deadly. Also where would you suggest the bell would be and how would it work.

The highlight effect would show up through the solid blocks, lighting the area up. You're right about glowsquid though. I was thinking the same cause - that the mob can be seen at a longer distance than light sources can.
With the bell idea you could make 'light paths' through the void, where groups of mobs at regular intervals between the holes would light up, creating a trail players can follow.
An idea to help with the looping items after shit down. Have a hopper line in the water line that loops any items not consumed. Tie it with the state of the factory's On/Off line to lock the hoppers while it's active but once deactivated they filter into a chest. This chest will accomplish a few things, 1) a visual point of all the items that are not being accepted in the factory. 2) Prevent the infinite loop that happens when the factory shuts down, causing the chunks never to unload. 3) saves you time from sitting in the water stream to have a fresh restart of the item loop. I don't have the water line I'm referring of fully memorized so unsure if there is enough space, but thought I might as well suggest it. Keep up the good work Tango ❤
This won't solve why non-ingredients are in your loop, but would help: When a minecart completes a loop with remaining ingredients, return them to storage instead of back into the supply loop. You currently have compounding error where any non-ingredients that end up in the loop will loop forever
I know of a good way to light your entrance to the void. Break the bedrock in a 5x5 block hole and then line the outer edges of the bottom of the hole with with Froglights or any other light block. Since you cannot place blocks below bedrock, there's no rule that says you cannot place them at the very bottom of the hole. What would really be cool is if you used redstone to rotate turning the light block on and off in a rotating pattern to really give the hole a snazzy appearance.

In Tasmania Australia at the moment, we have winter, a small town in the central highlands of Tasmania hit a record low temperature of -12.9 degrees Celsius (8.78 Fahrenheit) on the 3rd of July, then on the 4th of July, broke that record by hitting a low of -13.5 degrees Celsius (7.7 degrees Fahrenheit) It was so cold that a hotel in an area known for skiing in Tasmania had their pipes freeze, which resulted in the hotel being closed for a week

I also live in AZ and for reference right now we have a low of about 90°F and that’s even at 2am. So AC is required 😭 the bill depends how big your house is and if you are willing to suffer and keep it turned off during peak hours or they charge you double. So yeah If they keep it running and have a decent sized house… that sounds about right 😭 my SIL has a5 bedroom house i used to live in and we turned AC off during peak hours (i think it was 3-6 or 4-8 pm) and also did not keep it very cool in the house outside of that so it was quite miserable and the electric bill was about 4-600$ a month in the summer time

Idea on why minecarts enter the loop: if there are too many minecarts in short succession go through the head.. they end up on the wrong side. see if the timings of those carts being broken is ok. test in a test world if you have to. I build the IlMango system a few times, when toomany carts come through, the carts go through the head into water instead of through the lava Cauldron.
Think of it like a (T) the bottom of the (T) is where you want it to spread and the top of the (T) is where you want your grass. But grass always needs to be present so leave a few block of grass where it won’t be touched and the ticks will force the grass to grow faster.
The glowberry vine is considered a "block" by the game. This means it can't grow down there. It has to be an "entity". Best bet would be to use glow squids. But obviously they would die without water. While I haven't tested it, there might be a way to get a glow squid and a submerged boat to exist together using the new "boats are leadable" mechanics. But maybe it wouldn't work at all ... I'm not sure.
What if you remove 4-ish (or 9) bedrock blocks around the hole and put frog lights in their place? Would that provide light in the void so people can see the hole?
Isn't the carts randomly picking up things from the double chest when the minecarts launch? You can see the numbers go down, so if there isn't enough items at the top of the double chest, it starts to pick at the stuff at the bottom.
*Question for you guys,* can you place a block on the underside of a block? If so, they could add mine carts running between bases in the Hole Network. And... Is there an "underneath" in the Nether?

Wont grow below 0. Better to just replace the blocks on the rim of the holes with glowstone/froglights

It's for looks and so when someone is mining they don't accidentally break the redstone
And on servers with enderman griefing not disabled, Hermitcraft has it disabled: so enderman don't pick up the block under the redstone, causing the redstone to break.
