I’m a little confused. The camshaft wears up into the cap because the camshaft pushes down against the valve springs. Why not simply file down the caps to eliminate the extra clearance? That being said, how does one find the center of a bore that’s only worn on one side?
Set up on a good journal to find center and use head sealing surface as a reference to take measurements from
To answer my own question, use the bottom half of the journal since it has minimal wear but since there is only minimal wear it’s not necessary to find the center. Just file the cap, checking the clearance with each stroke of the file. Is my reasoning wrong? I guess this would be a poor man’s fix.
