Kelsey was probably drunk during this scene anyway. I mean, I love the guy but he was getting high and drunk all the time on set when he wasn't filming.
Well of course he was a rival for Sam who everyone loved. Plus he was super pompous like a male Diane. As the writers saw how brilliant Kelsey was the character of Frasier so funnier and more lovable. He became imo the best character in the show as well as the most layered and developed.
One of the Top 5 funniest Cheers intros of all time. Right up there with the one where Woody has a tag sticking out of his sweater, and when Woody tells Frasier the story of how he broke his hand.
My favorite was where Carla is visited by a lawyer who tells her she was due a large inheritance (at which point she starts to quit the job) which was stolen and squandered away by some jerk (she unquits). Such is the life of Carla.
My favorite is the one with the guy who had not been in the bar in over 20 years… he stars going over everything that has changed and then shouts out “Norm!”… The episode is one of my favorites as well, Cliff on Jeopardy.
@@seankeaney823 There was a few like that. I remember one where there was either the old owner or an old bartender from like 20 years ago named Gus. He walked in and was talking about how great it was to be back and how nothing had changed and he asked Sam if he could just jump behind the bar for a second to relive some old memories. Norm comes be-boppin out from back by the pool room and nonchalantly says “I’ll have a beer Gus.” Then he’s like “Wait a minute…something seems strange.”
Mine was everyone waiting outside for the next person to open the bar bc they all left they keys at home. Then, here comes Norm...sorry I'm late everyone and let's them in. I howled 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Actually many psychoanalysts would also say hitting his head against the counter was a subconscious way to get rid of the painful memory, and that he "did it on purpose". Just saying.
He had a much worse one on in Wine and Neuroses (or maybe it was Wedding Bell Blues...) anyway, as memory serves, it was cream coloured and had bears on it.
The snarky, "headache, pay attention" was so out of character for Woody. But then he reverted back to the lovable dunce when he explained why his head hurt.
I was ruminating about something and got a social sense I didn't like and I felt my brain gird itself against it with nothing to replace it with - shortly after, I got a headache.
Merry Christmas and happy New years everybody, however please remember that Jesus is a reason for the season. We want to celebrate the birth of our Lord and savior the son of god, Jesus Christ. Praise jesus.
The only show in the 1980s that came anywhere close to being as funny as British comedy next was married with Children failing that American comedy basically sucks
That or he might just be a middle aged guy in the 80s before farm meats were treated with steroids and a lot of high class medicines became over the counter, I mean besides the white hair Ted Danson looks better now than he did in the show.
First off, he's around 30 here. Second, Danson does NOT look better now than he did 30 years ago...although I don't expect him to, being that he's in his 70s now.
The look of disbelief on Frasier's face is awesome
And the wrtiers kept coming back to the Woody / Frasier interaction. "Change 'change' to 'make change'... Change it!"
Sometimes a headache is just a headache.
Tell that to Dr. Crane
All-time Great Sitcom. I still watch it whenever possible.
It’s on Hulu
Before big bang, before friends and before Seinfeld there was Cheers the OG of comedy television.
@@tonygarratt5832 Not to start a fight, rich guy, but Cheers was (or is) better than all of those.
@@InsightAndEnergy I agree, but Seinfeld was pretty close.
@@tonygarratt5832 Big Bang and Friends aren't even in the same league!
They had Frasier order an Iced Tea, so that when he takes the pills and washes it down, he isn't mixing pain-killers with alcohol.
Kelsey was probably drunk during this scene anyway. I mean, I love the guy but he was getting high and drunk all the time on set when he wasn't filming.
these guys really knew how to set jokes up
When he first started on the show in the guest shot I couldn't stand Frasier. But he soon became one of my favorites on the show LOL
Well of course he was a rival for Sam who everyone loved. Plus he was super pompous like a male Diane. As the writers saw how brilliant Kelsey was the character of Frasier so funnier and more lovable. He became imo the best character in the show as well as the most layered and developed.
You just have to absolutely love these guys.
'"It's a headache. Pay attention." 😂🤣👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thats exactly why Woody was always my favorite, the guy was hilarious😂😂
And adorable.
They just dont write like this anymore
So true.
not for live sitcoms, anyway
@@CaptLuser not for any type of sitcom today.
This is my favorite TV show growing up in the 80's
Don't have a headache? Read enough UA-cam comments and you will!
One of my favorite short scenes from Cheers, and very smart.
Cheers had some of the best teasers\cold opens of all time! Up there with Malcolm In The Middle.
"Headache! Pay attention!" gets me every time!
And the end where, frustrated, Frasier grabs the aspirin, too! Comedy gold!
Top 5 all time best shows on TV
Classic straight man.
Fav show of all time.
Never met a head shrink that was normal.
Most are about half a bubble off plumb from listening to crazy people ...
The look on Dr Crane’s face . . .
These were the best TV shows ever!
I STILL laugh at this even tho I've watched it many, many times.

The hypnosis episode made me LMAO.

Sometimes, I forget how ridiculously funny this show could be.
Love the scene with these 2 when Woody is explanining how he broke his thumb to Frasier
This show is literally "A guy walks in to a bar" joke.
Yeah, dude, good point!
I think about this cold open all the time 🤣
I still remember saying back then that Kelsey Grammar should have his own show, he was that good.
Actually many psychoanalysts would also say hitting his head against the counter was a subconscious way to get rid of the painful memory, and that he "did it on purpose". Just saying.
+lordtains Don't be a Clavin,, Just enjoy the laugh.
"be a Clavin" AND it was hilarious for said reason ;)
That may explain the first hit, but the second hit has to be explained as damn good comedy!
many psychoanalysts are fucking retarded
@@bobajaj4224 Technically Frasier did say in his show that there are no accidents. So he's not being a Clavin. He's being a Frasier.
for once, frasier rendered sppechless
Tremendous.
Almost lost a swallow of Guinness there.
Should let the video play a few seconds longer to let the piano intro finish.
This is how you play "ring-a ring-a rosies.." with a Shrink 😆
Christmas sweaters Frasier is sporting, awesomeness!
That was funny!
Frasier's mountain sweater could've been so beautiful if not cropped as a square frame
it's not cropped, that's the original aspect ratio
He had a much worse one on in Wine and Neuroses (or maybe it was Wedding Bell Blues...) anyway, as memory serves, it was cream coloured and had bears on it.
Apparently memory doesn't serve. mmm
A good joke often requires a good setup like this one. But today’s audience doesn’t have the patience for that.
its all in the set up
I dunno....213,000 views disagree with you.
What did you say? I got distracted.

Brilliant best intro

that is fuppin hilliarious!!!!
i sounds like Ted Danson laughing n the background..
1:05 that face lol
Too funny! :-D :-D :-D
i take the aspirin too if i was in his shoes
Who would have believed that he would be a Star Wars character back then?
There’s no such thing as accidents....
I always thought cheers was boring as a kid, I might have to try it sometime now though
and not a shot fired.
I was ruminating about something and got a social sense I didn't like and I felt my brain gird itself against it with nothing to replace it with - shortly after, I got a headache.
Over 350,000 people felt that slam.
Iced tea with no ice. I'd find a better bar. If Woody had re-enacted beating Carla at Italian Arm Wresting, it'd been a comebacker.
Shelley Long thought when he was first hired for the show that it was a mistake to put another inteccual in the bar.
star trek inteccual? there is no such word.
Welk, I say better to add another inteccual than another intellectual.
Well, not "welk "!
Woody, an inteccual ?
He fooled me ...
For this kind of pain, Woody needs an opioid painkiller, not mere aspirin.
How is the show THIS funny? Like honestly??
Gifted writers, directors and actors that's how :)
Cute :D
Kelsey Grammar is a very conservative trump supporter. At this point in his career, he might have been OK. Today I wouldn’t watch anything he was in.
Well then you're an idiot and have zero sense. Go back to dwelling your sewer.
All physical pain? It is a little too much, isn't it?
does anybody know which season this is from?
I would say fall because Dr Crane is wearing a light sweater.
@ .... no
Mathew 6:33 but seek ye first the kingdom of God.

Ugh. Frasier and his Freudian drivel.
So what was it.. ?

lol

There was also Golden Girls and Newhart.
Kelsey Grammer looks awful here. This must be during one of his addiction phases.
I think it's just the funky sweater. LOL
James Kennedy
He's taking aspirin with beer, what else do you need to know...😋
