Paris? Nie wieder! Niemals.
In meiner Stadt spricht jeder Bäckerei- Verkäufer gutes Englisch.
In meinem Land würden solche Angestellten fristlos gekündigt. So ein Benehmen gibt es bei uns nicht.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass jede Stadt besser ist als Paris. Sogar Städte in Nordkorea.

Dear Marie - Anne, I was in Paris last year with my daughter. Trip was her gift! I am 56 years old and so far this was a trip of my life. Loved every minute of it! We walked and walked for 5 days, didn't want to use any transportation. Weather, people, croissants and pane chocolate, wine and cheese were amazing. Didn't gain any weight 😅
There is something in the air, so magical ✨️ 😍

😂😂😂 I remember my first visit in Paris, in 1994. The meal at the restaurant was shockingly "petit". Once in the street, I bought the first baguette sandwich I could put my hands on. It is true: then, I never needed to follow a diet for my silhuette. 30 Years latter I do, still I suppose I will never be so worried for 2-3 extra kg to pass ice cream. Specially in the Summer. Bonne sante to all! From my beautiful Romania.

You're right, Marie-Anne. Paris is so beautiful worth walking everywhere. Everytime we've been there we've enjoyed walking then sitting outdoors to enjoy a good cup of coffee and see people so chic walk by.

I just came back from a 3 week vacation (1 week in London; 2 weeks in Paris). I ate croissants, baguettes and cheese nearly every morning, but walked 6 - 8 miles each day. I lost 5 pounds over those three weeks. One thing I found shocking was larger portion sizes (at least in the 5th arrondissement where I stayed). This was especially true at Italian restaurants. Also, outside Asian and Middle-eastern restaurants, I found vegetarian meals were difficult to find, especially at traditional French restaurants. Towards the end of our trip, we were going to open-markets to buy fresh fruit and vegetables to eat in our hotel room. This was not at all what I expected to find in Paris.

Your tips are spot on, Marie-Anne. Drinking water is always the best option to keep hydrated better and healthier than pasteurised fruit juice, pop or soda. And love the fact that French people sit down and take their time to chew and enjoy their meals, that's how I've been taught and prefer it like that.

Yes Marie-Anne, when I lived in Paris for a month, at age 52, I lost so much weight just from all the walking done. So much exploring done on foot. I loved it so much. 👏💐🐨

Thank you so much Marie-Anne! The great thing about these tips is that we can practice most, if not all of them anywhere - even at home! Portion control, eating (much) more slowly and getting out every day for a walk are the 3 pillars of success I point to when people ask me how I lost the weight I needed to *and* have kept it off for 3 years and counting.

Yes, Marie-Anne, perfect advice, applied as best for each person: I say walk; eat no sugar; eat slowly. If you want milk with your coffee, order café au lait and not café. Thank you, Marie-Anne.

So true- Paris is so walkable and charming! We didn’t take metro at all. I loved that water carafe was always given to us with food without even asking. The portions were also reasonably small compared to typical American 😂. I’ve noticed people sitting down even with tiny cups of coffee everywhere in the morning. The only problem was I fell in love with fresh baguettes. 😅

Lots of good advice Marie-Anne. One that my mother taught me from an early age was to sit down to eat. To this day I don’t like walking around or standing while eating. The tip I need to practice is mindful eating, I have a tendency to eat too fast, so I don’t savour the food as I should. Thanks for all your wise tips 🙏🏻

Good advice, as usual! I'm just back from a week in Nice, a week outside Grasse, and 9 nights in Paris. A few days, I walked over 9 miles in Paris, without really trying. One day, a friend and I walked from the 2eme to the 15th to meet up with other friends for lunch. It took 1+ hours each way. It wasn't hot, though! The apartment I always rent has 64 spiral steps up to it on the 3rd (French floor) 4th (to Americans).

When I was in Paris some years ago, I loved the food and I walked everywhere. I was with my German friend (I'm from the US). She said, "In order to own a city, you must walk it." I now own Paris! One day at the end of the day we had walked all day around Paris. I wanted to see Notre Dame. By the time we arrived in the late afternoon, there was still a 2-hour wait to get in. I was so exhausted and hungry that I skipped it. Then it burned down. I'm so disappointed.

When visiting my beloved City of lights, yes Paris, where I left half of my heart, I always lose weight despite I enjoy it’s amazing menu and I never skip a glass of champagne.
However, I keep the same manners I was taught at home. Portion control, eating slowly, drinking water, never snacking and specially something I simply adore there; walking like there’s no tomorrow!
And one last thing; as I walk along the streets a big smile is drawn on my face without even noticing it.
Yes, Paris makes me happy like no other city in the world!
As granny said, nothing French can be bad!

Walking in Paris is one of the most wonderful things to do. So much to enjoy! And the very best way to get a feel for the sights is to be a "promeneuse! This summer we are visiting the Netherlands and I hope to apply your tips to the cities we will visit there.
