Aliens Arcade Konami |1990| Play Through

- Aliens the movie are timeless classics, it’s natural that they’re want to capitalize on the popularity with a video game adaptation. In 1990 Konami’s Aliens delivered the goods. Based on 1986’s movie of the same name, the game is stellar and looks great for the era.
Fox: "We can give you the rights to everything but Sigourney Weaver's hair"
They obviously could've used another actress with short and dark hair. I like how they even switched hair color of the actress with the little girl Lmao Don't know wth were they thinking 🤣🤣
Classic, I remember playing this at the movie theater 💯🤙
IKR. They took a heck of a lot of creative liberties (some I actually really like) but those B actors they put in the thumbnail and on the cabinet art are so bizzare!
Lmao Wow, people got sensitive at my comment yet bowed down by giving thumbs up to the dude below me with his random statement Haha!
I remember that scene in the movie when Ripley told Gorman to get his team outta there and suddenly decided to say "fok it" and dyed her hair blonde, told Burke to "keep it steady" while she climbed the roof of the APC at full speed, shooting xenomorphs left and right, because Newt is fast af and outran the APC to the end of a hallway when suddenly a xenomorph with wings outta nowhere came out and kidnapped her. Such an iconic scene, I'm surprised they included it in this video game.
Glad they kept the zombies in too.
You're 100% right. That was my favourite scene.
LOL
😂😂😂😂
I know a place where you can still play this game. There is a place in Centralia, Wa. called ‘Insert Coin’, Pizza, burgers, beer, and so many original working classic machines.
Spent 100’s of quarters back in high school!!! Brings back memories of playing it at Ingram Park Mall in San Antonio
Yeah, but... all high school. Not the same playthrough!
The way you describe it reminds me of _Fast Times At Ridgemont High!_ 😅
You and I probably played on the same machine. I grew up in that mall practically.
Spent 100's of quarters back in junior high school at a Pizza Joint that I went to just to play the game - AHHH The Memories, I wish I could play this game again.
Yeah it was at least worth one play through to the end. I remember $5-$10 was enough. lol.
I wasn’t allowed to watch R-rated movies until years after I’d played this many times.
When I first watched “Aliens”, I was pretty much expecting “Contra:The Movie”
I would pay good money to see a Contra: The Movie
Remember when rated r movies has toys and cartoon spinoffs
Well.... You're not far off
@@chowspecial T2 comes to mind. Had all the toys and brought the movie for show and tell in 3rd grade.
@@ts1265 caps were such a hot topic in elementary school
And I thought I was bad at the game back in the day
Esse consegue ser pior que muitos que jogaram, eu não Cheguei a pegar tanta ficha assim não no emulador hahahhaha
Maybe the game's just that cheap though.
@@edwardgaines6561 Yep. That's how arcades made money back then. The games were just plain unfair to play. Like on that first boss. Notice how the boss did half a life bar in damage when the player had a power up but suddenly 1/3 when back to the base smart gun?
Thank God for emulators now. I don't even want to guess how much $ kids spent back in the day trying to beat games like this. At least games like The Simpsons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were fun without making it feel like they were trying to constantly kill you like this one.
I always loved how this game was maybe 10% the actual movie, and the other 90% was batshit insanity they pulled out of their asses.
Sigourney weaver looking like Heather locklear lol
It actually looks like Kathy Long, a martial arts actress from the 90s. I think it's actually her.
@@napalmsanctuaryx4129 It's definitely Kathy Long. Back in the day, video games were considered so unimportant that they sometimes cast different people for the cover art entirely.
I think she also posed for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the arcade game.
Also, Ripley has Newt's hair and Newt has Ripley's hair.
@@Theshark15zThat was her? Yeah, that yellow jump outfit looked way too baggy though. Nice hair though!
Can you imagine the meeting? "We want you to make an Aliens game based on the film... but also, do what the heck you want! Just have fun with it and make it awesome. It doesn't even have to make sense!"
This rules. It deserves a comeback.
I remember my father waking me up on my birthday and took me to a nickel arcade. We played this game from start to finish.
I loved this game. Seeing it now, I notice it's basically a CONTRA game with xenomorphs.
Like Final Fight with guns
Or narc, you could've said narc.
.....Contra 3 though. The irony lmao
Arcade Archives needs to bring this in PSN,Switch,Etc.
Yess!!! Im hopping they bring Robocop to the Arcade Archives and Alien vs Predator too.
G.I.JOE from Konami
@@christianvega12341 yes and would love Robocop 2 and Combattribes
Agree 100% and the xmen and Spiderman arcade games would also be awesome to have on ps4-5.Moonwalker, captain America and the Avengers and the old wwf game would also be awesome.@@christianvega12341
One of my earliest memories is of walking with my mother to one of the beaches in Cape Cod, to get there we walked down the sidewalk through some kind of shopping area, and that's where I saw this Aliens arcade cabinet rolling through demo/attract mode, and I was so fascinated with it!
That area would be what you would call a Boardwalk. I liked those Arcades on the Boardwalks near the beach at Ocean City, Maryland or Virginia Beach. So many cool games like The Original TRON Arcade, AVP, or TMNT
@@AdrianFahrenheitTepesDaytona Beach?
@@barryFLASHallen Not yet, I have visited Orlando, Florida, not Daytona Beach
@@AdrianFahrenheitTepes Of course, this was back in the late 80’s during Spring Break!
The demo mode scared the crap outta me as a kid. All those shots from the movie, which of course I hadn't seen yet because I was about 8-10 years old. Plus the game itself had that creepy late 80s - early 90s feel; add that to your average dark arcade room full of "big kids" and strangers. Nightmare fuel!
Nice, I beat this game back in the day. Took about $5 in quarters to beat it.
Me too. ❤
But if friends play game with me more fast
Don't bragg buddy doesn't look good on ya.
I'm just sharing my experience. It's a fun game, and I'm pretty sure there were others that could beat it in less continues than it took me.
more like 15 dollars
That's how much I did it for
One of the best arcade games ever made that wasn't about fighting on a street.
they should release an aliens arcade collection with the AVP games included. wth everyone else is doing it
Ah the part in the movie when Hannibal Lector throwing grenades through an air vent.
😂😂😂
Used to play this at the mall, 1CC clear, flame thrower is op on like 95% of the game
You had a much larger kill radius with the flame thrower!
@@darklordlc the only enemy in the game that I like homing missiles instead on is the boss with the floating eggs all around the screen, flame thrower doesn’t seem to destroy them as fast
Wow. This is both an extremely unfair game (as coin-op arcade machines usually are) and faithful with the horror influence. Konami understood the assignment.
Brings back particularly fond memory of mine. My mom used to drop my dad and I off at the Pizza Hut on Saturday every now and again we would get pizza and then we would go next door to Mr. Arcade where I would run around playing arcade games or doing whatever kids do at the time. But there is this one time with this one game that I played it and I played it and I played it. I just wanted to get to the end and my dad stood there with me. It felt like forever and game over after game over. He just kept giving me quarters and I finally beat it. Finally beat the last stage. Oh is great. It's been 35 years. I still remember that
(For the record, it wasn't common for him to give me a bottomless amount of quarters .... But I think he wanted me to get to the end as much as I did)
man that arcade was fun, but the aliens shooter arcade cabinet with the marine assault rifle was lit af
This game, The Simpsons, and X-Men got a whole lot of my quarters when I was a kid. Avengers and Alter Beast too, can’t believe I almost forgot those games.
I loved The Simpsons arcade game!
I used to play on the arcade in one of the newsagents during my school lunch hour
Glad to see I'm not the only one that loves a classic arcade like. I lost a lot of quarters to this one. Just recorded a quick video myself the other day to post.
This game kicked so much ass in my 8 year old mind. Hundreds of quarters well spent as a kid in arcades.
We went from gsmes like this to angry birds and plants vs zombies . 😮. What has happened to the quality of games.now. this was definatly the golden era.of.arcade.games. konami was one of the best developers
Crazy how we went from 30 minute games to 100+ hours.
So many different kinds of aliens!
I never got past the third level because i was scared of the aliens in the vents, man those were the good days.
I wonder how many people legitimately completed this inside an actual arcade. Probably not many. I imagine it would take an awful lot of coins to do so.
Man I did I use to beg my mom to give me 5$ sometimes she gave us 20 and it was like holy crap dude we have money for arcade
Actually I did, not on the first try of course and it was the japansese version so the tank level wasn't there, but after memorizing patterns I could beat the game with 1 credit (still can). Kids saw me entering the arcade and knew what machine I was going to play, made me feel important lol.
I got so I could complete it, both times through (this video only shows half the walk through - to finish finish, you had to play through again with different enemy patterns in places) on a single credit, and on a good day, without taking a single hit and killing 100% of the enemies. I can’t remember where the two or three points were I would still usually take a hit - I think one was on the 2nd time through and where the purple goop things come up. And I think I would usually miss one of the aliens on the 2nd time though in the car part …as I recall it was really hard to lay the bullets down fast enough to get one alien that would come along the ceiling I think it was.
It’s a game where everything is 100% predictable though so with enough practice, a perfect game is very possible. I don’t know how many people did get that good but the fact I did it, and could get a perfect game maybe 1 in 5 times, means it can’t have been /that/ hard as I was never the best at arcade game although I loved playing them.
I played this at the arcade in college. It took about 4 quarters to learn the patterns. After that, it was probably the easiest game I ever encountered and would consistently get thru on 1 life. Got boring, but it was a way to spend the break between PolySci and doing the noon news.
Rule 1: Once you get the flamethrower, you never give it back.
@@ladysybaris ok - 4 quarters to learn it? Both passes through all the levels? I know it’s all 100% predictable once you learn it, but I am sceptical you could get through without being caught by more of the gotchas to finish on just 4 quarters let alone learn it. I got to the point where I could get through both times without a single hit of damage maybe 1 time in 5, but even learning the different game mechanics like how to use the mech suit and its flame thrower and working out the “mothers” tail attack patterns compared to the acid attacks etc, sorry…I think you may be exaggerating to have learned it all that quickly. 20 quarters…maybe I could believe if you were exceptionally good at it. Also / a full pass through all levels twice to properly finish the game would take close to an hour when played perfectly without a hit of damage (might have been 40 mins, it was a long time ago but around that) - that’s a lot of entertainment for 1 quarter which is why it was one of my fav arcade games - great value for money once you did get good at it :)
Classic. I played this so many times at the arcade back in the day.
This was the first video game cabinet that I played as a kid.
This was one of my favorite games to play. I spent many quarters playing this. What a blast from the past.
Talk about a blast from the past, I used to spend so many quarters at the local Walmart playing this game when I was a middle schooler. Ahh memories 😊
Still want to add.... what is with all these other weird xenos 😂. Konamis' fever dream with Aliens
I once got from the beginning to the fight with the queen, kneeling at the end off of one credit. I was getting a lot of people watching over my shoulder while I was playing it was getting distracting at the time. this game is a timeless treasure
Did you only get to the final boss the first time? To finish you then have to play through again with slightly different / harder enemy patterns to finish finish. :)
I'd like to watch one of those "no damage" clips in this
Game is obviously made this way to collect quarters from kids. Its seems impossible to beat even one area without dying a bunch of times.
I don’t think it’s possible.
@@jaydub7386if I remember correctly I could do it on 5 credits first three levels quite easy
Yes, it was possible to finish the game playing it through twice (this video only shows half of the walk through) without taking a single hit of damage. I used to play it a lot until I got so I could do that, and I wouldn’t count it that I “won” unless it was a zero damage play through. One credit at 50p in ‘91 would keep me entertained for around an hour if I recall correctly. It was always my first port of call when going to the pub on campus in my final year at uni - that’s how come I had the time (and spare cash) to get to learn the alien patterns 100%.
I don't think it exists. This is one of those quarter munchers for sure
I juat realized: *CAPCOM* took away both the Aliens franchise and the X-Men franchise, turning that into the versus series with Marvel! How did Konami drop the ball so hard?
Capcom also seemed to take a lot of the enemy ideas from this game too.
@@revolveronvinyl The character designs of the aliens most definitely!
@@edwardgaines6561 and the zombies!
This game was cool but very rare to find in most places
Holy cow, this game is difficult.
Remember short controlled bursts!!!!
I think that was about $22 in quarters there lol
Thanks for playing through so many great games!!!
1 coin = ending, it was a blast hearing the music... :)
3 games that I played the most in 1991
Aliens from Konami
Shinobi from Sega
ESWAT: City Under Siege
Alanah Pierce in the thumbnail lol
Man!! I loved this game!!
Some arcade games know how to milk those quarters out of you.
I used to love this game.
Would love to have this game released for ps4 and ps5 along with Aliens vs Predator, Moonwalker, Robocop 1-2,xmen, captain America and the Avengers, spiderman the arcade game,Eswat and the old wwf wrestling game with all the good old wrestlers.
I think it wouldve been cool if we saw all the aliens we see here, we can see in the movie.
Music by Casio, from the mall.
"GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!... anyone got a quarter?"
-Pvt. Hudson
It took me a while to remember this video game, then I remembered where I had seen it. In an arcade that was downtown more than thirty years ago. Few people played it, there were no queues like, for example, in front of Street Fighter. In my opinion it was too difficult and therefore, simply, too many coins were needed
The Capcom version was where it was at!! Well it was technically Aliens vs Predator. But still.
Loved this game!
I remember finding this game at The Breakers arcade in ocean isle NC 1990
Years later I remember thinking that a strong female protagonist shouldn’t cost me $32 in quarters.
Man, thick memories.
I totally wann do a video edit of this game featuring James Horners soundtrack.
I have this arcade game in my basement. 150 bucks, a biglots was shutting down stated everything had to go. Still like brand new
Whenever she picks up a flamethrower, it almost sounds like the computer says 'sh*%'.😂
Everybody who has played this on arcade knows there is only one possible weapon to make it through: FLAME
Good times playing aliens on mame arcade emulator ❤
man that is a lot of deaths game was hard as hell
contra vibes and master blaster
Remember when Konami cared about gaming, and not just a slot machines
man i miss games like these
There must have been a lot of coins involved...
Soooooo many quarters were put in that arcade back in the day by me….😅
Fox: make us a Alien video game Konami: should we watch the movie? Fox: nope!
Shan=me this didn't make it on the SNES. Only tried to play it at Wal-Mart when they had a couple of arcade games in the from entrances back in the day.
Dam! Still hard as brass balls this game. Proper coin muncher. Brings back so many positive memories. So excited when playing this game, when I was young and even now
I saw the movie after playing this an I kept waiting for a blonde lady with a smart gun to come along kill everything and save them.
I don't remember playing this and it was that hard you died several times on the first level. Was one of the first games I look for on cough cough. Ah the kettles boiled!
Worst comment here you are a true 🤡
Have they reused the Contra engine for their game? Both the 3D stages and the side scroller feel like Contra
Sigourney Weaver looking like Kevin McCallister
Sure looks like a lot of fun.
It's a torment watching you play
😂 exactly. Looks like someone who never played before. Painful to watch.
Oh look, a video game about my nightmares!
This is sweet!
3 continues before the elevator?
These were the arcade games that were awesome and depressing at the same time. Great to play, though they make you go broke...and the arcade got rich lol
The powers of quarters from you parents hard work.
The way the first boss is you clearly know it was hard for players to spend more money on
Why does Newt have ‘80s metal hair in the thumbnail?
Basically, a fun game with a no win scenario throughout lol
Those freaking spiders though 😮
How did I never know about this?
This game looks difficult ❤
It was. What’s more, in the arcade you typically started with TWO lives and not the standard three.
Cool. Now do it without dying.
Why is there no pulse rifle or shotgun?
did not know this game existed
It doesn't have the same intensity with unlimited continues as it did when you had to pump quarters or tokens into it.
Just imagine that you have a bag with 1000 coins
Great game. Reminds me of Contra
Same company
This game is an adaptation of the Aliens film if it were in an alternate reality. The character looks nothing like Ripley, the Xenomorphs look nothing like the ones in the film, and the facehuggers don't even look like facehuggers. And there's zombified androids?! The SNES version of AvP was more faithful to the Aliens film than this.
I forgot how crazy and off the wall a good portion of the 80s and 90s arcade games were when it came to enemy varieties.
First time playing this old game I see. Love the game, not the gameplay though.
*Royalties for likeness.* Weyland-Yutani... ahem... I mean, the studio wanted that arcade money.
Classic arcade game spend $1.00 just to beat the 1st boss just to die on the next stage after the M577 ride 🤣🤟
57 years after the credits?
