Today I got your book. I read a certain recipe on page 125 and thought "wow, I really want to make this for my girlfriend tomorrow" and what happens? You upload a video in which you actually prepare this dish (it's the last one, the steak-salat). Damn, I'm so lucky (since I'm a beginner I need all the help I can get). Thank you Gordon!

Hahaha thank you for your replies, I did not expect someone to actually take an interest in a random comment!
TL;DR: All in all, it went reeally well! She loved it! I got a big Gordon-bonus - I never thought I could cook something that tasted so delicious, seriously!
      Long version:
It took me approxmately 1.5 hours yesterday to be honest, from prepping everything to serving. We just moved into a new appartment. So, after a day of cleaning everything, I cooked for the first time in our new kitchen!
Washing and prepping all the vegetables took me about 75 minutes I'd say, the remaining 15 minutes I spent on the steaks. We slightly deviated from the recipe though, as we added 1 additional garlic clove to the dressing. Pro-tip: If your significant other has a hard time with hot/spicy food, only take half a chili for the dressing. I used 3/4 and it was a little bit too hot, but we also added 1 slice of garlic bread to the meal, so that turned out nice! The steaks were thicker than the ones Gordon had in this video, so I put them in the oven after cooking them for another 5 minutes. They came out between medium rare and medium, which was exactly what she wanted!
She was absolutely stunned by the meal and said it reminds her of restaurant quality food. :D She was being sincere.
I want to emphasize: I really am a novice, I cannot even slice onions properly. So I'd say this was not only a compliment for me, but it was also a compliment to the stunning recipe Gordon provided us with. And I agree with my girlfriend, especially the dressing is really, really good. This explosion of flavours in your mouth... damn...
One last addition: The recipe states that the listed ingredients would be enough for 4 portions. With respect to the salad, we both thought the salad is enough for 6 people. :D We ate from it today, too, and there's still some left.
I can only encourage others to try and cook at least this dish! My experience in the kitchen is almost equal to 0, I think I can't tell the difference between well done and overcooked noodles, let alone make them. But that doesn't matter, even novices (apparently) can cook really tasty dishes... with a little bit of help. So try it, dare it, even/especially when it's scary to cook!

made the steak salad last week and it will be a BIG reason to keep thin steaks handy at all times. when he says don't overdress, he means it...caught that on 2nd watch after a waterlogged salad but still tasted great. super light, no oil in that dressing! (recipe is on his website for those who want written direction)

I've been cooking for the family a lot more now then ever. I have really bad stomach issues and processed food is really bad on me, pre sliced veggies are bad too. I've caught myself cutting whole lettuce now and had no issues after eating. I had a bad gal bladder and it also caused me to have bulimia, sometimes I would end up throwing up on a empty stomach many times. I've made food a lot more special to me now, and regret most of my "out to eat" food now. You need to cherish meals and make them as fresh as possible.

Gordon Ramsay has helped my cooking so much. I watched his series on Masterclass, an otherwise overpriced service that was well worth it for his class alone. What I learned was not recipes, but technique- methods, flavors, and organization.
Today I shop with my eyes open and feel the freedom to be creative, try new flavors and styles, and found the need to start my own herb garden. But most of all, now I never touch the stove until I've got my _mise en place_ !
On the other hand, I *really* need to bring Chef Ramsay here to Texas. We should have a little talk about tacos.

    Everyone: olive oil
    Grodon: olevol
PS Gordon's been my go-to chef for everything but Italian cuisine for a while now, and he's never failed to delight.

I'm certain he's been in Thailand. In addition, taste is something personal you know perhaps what you consider spicy may be mild for another or vice versa. To me, I'm in huge love with spicy food, I'd love to travel and discover the southeastern cuisines alongside with Mexican and South American or any other place that really is known for its spicy food.
