That feeling Tommy Lee Jones describes is absolute fact. The instant I saw my son when he was born, the very first thought that I had, the very first feeling that I had was that I will destroy any living thing, including sacrificing myself, to protect my boy. There is no other way to describe it other than instinct that is embedded into your dna. It is the most clear and calming feeling that I have ever had.

I believe you meant it with all your heart too. I’ve got four sons, all grown men now and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for any one of them. Unfortunately we can’t protect them from everything life will bring. Some day some girl will break their heart and there’s not a lot Dad can do other than offer support. Best we can do is teach them how to cope with adversity, fix mistakes, be an honest kind and loving person and work hard no matter what the job.

This makes me miss my old man so damn much. This past February marked 5 years since he passed away at 62 and he was exactly this way about his sons. He gave everything he had to make sure we had a better life than he did, and he always called me at 5pm on the dot every Friday afternoon to ask me how I was doing, even when I was in the military. I still have his number in my phone and just can't bring myself to delete it. There are voicemails in my inbox he sent me from his ICU bed in the hospital when he knew that the end was near that I still haven't listened to, and I don't know if I ever can. He was the closest person in life to me, and there's a large part of my heart that died with him.

Maybe more protective fathers will sit down with their adult children and have them ask themselves if they really know the full and right facts of a conflict that the government wants you to put their brave and valuable lives on the line for before and while they are in any kind of military service .
After all, most of these conflicts are not brought about by the citizens but by the only few who are watching out for only the few at the top in government and their corrupt corporate interests and backers.

I can really relate to this
I’m a big brother to my little sister who is 18, she’s in high school
When school ends I always see her and these guys around her just bothering her
And as soon as she gets in the car
I look at the 4 guys to make sure they see me.
The next morning, she was in the bathroom crying because, I think or I don’t remember but they were spreading rumors about her and post fake “ pics “ of her “dignity” and that’s when I had enough.
I drove to her to school when it was almost time to go home
I saw the guys the pick up spot
    I remember I got out
Asked for one of there name, confirmed it
And I just start clocking this dude in the face, the stomach, everywhere to where a brick wall had to get involve, but after that, they never messed with her again and pretty much nobody picked or bullied her ever again.
I may not know what being a dad is like in this situation, don’t have my own kin but as a older brother
No matter what, you will do whatever it takes to protect your own family, your own blood, no matter the consequences
Be the armor they wear and shield them from anything that will hurt them.

You're delusional if you think that people that are only half into movies don't know who Tommy Lee Jones is.

There is only one way the general public votes and that's with gross revenue. When TLJ is starring with someone like Will Smith, an inferior actor to TLJ, MIB grosses hundreds of millions and is a franchise. When TLJ is on his own, his movies gross much less. Will Smith on the other hand still grosses nine digits.

@@rogerjohnson2490 In Texas last year, a father killed the guy who raped his 5 year old daughter. The judge acquitted him of all charges.
I'm guessing the judge had a daughter also.

Of course RT scored it low. It features a strong father figure protecting his son. This is wildly divergent compared to single-mom base-babe homes that actively alienate children from their fathers and villify men for simply existing.

To those who are blessed enough to have a father in their lives, and if you watch this… Cherish the time you have with them… You won’t get it back in this life time. And if you are fortunate enough to get it back in the form of a son of your own, remember what it was like as a child looking up to your father and remember what it was like to have someone that special that you looked up too, and perform every action as if your son now is watching and emulating you. For you do not know the ripples that you cause. So cause good ones.

I’m very close to 60 years old. Done a and been through a lot as one might imagine. But I can sum it all up to the greatest moment in my life. That moment when I first saw the light of God reflecting off my son’s face as the doctor took him from his mother’s womb. I truly learned the meaning of the word “sacred” in that moment.
