- Wavlink docking station review. This item can be used for many things, including offline hard drive cloning, or just as a way to connect a hard drive to your computer for extra storage. It also has 2 usb ports and 2 charging ports, and reds micro SD and SD cards.

I know this video is old, but I have that exact model and couldn't find any documentation for it. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to start the cloning process, so thank you!

I bought this a few years ago and then just found it 2 days ago; Definitely putting it to use this weekend. Glad I found this video. Excellent Job!
Could you please show how to extend the cloned volume on the larger target hard-drive completed from the smaller source hard-drive. The clone target hard-drive has unallocated space showing and that space cannot be used.
I dont have a video that shows it, i am sorry. There are several ways to do it with reasonable ease though. It involves expanding the volume into the unallocated space. Try a youtube search for "expanding volume to unallocated space". Ill bet youll find something. I wish i could be better help, but it would be hard to describe it in writing.....

Hello Sir, I have a Wavlink USB 3 dual bay docking station, a new one and its clone function does not work! Can a new hard-drive out of the anti-static bag be cloned in the target bay of this docking station with the smaller source hard-drive in the source bay and no USB connected to pc?
I formatted my new hard drive first. Follow the instruction manual section for offline clone. The instructions are specific, and need to be followed exactly. If it is not working, one of your two drives is bad or the docking station itsself
the video that you showed cloning was all about your old HDD primary drive to new SSD primary drive of your PC?is it possible to clone old SSD to a new large capacity of SSD using this WAVlink docking station? Do i need to format my new SSD first before start Cloning?
Yes you can clone ssd to ssd. I dont believe it makes a difference whether or not you format the drive if it is new, but if there is data on it I would format it

No. If your new drive is larger its fine to do an offline clone. If not, youll need software like acronis that usually comes free with the new hard drive purchase

Is there a way to duplicate clone usb external hdd to another usb external hdd?.
Great question. The answer is yes, but you have to remove the hard drives from the enclosure they are in and place them in the unit, and plug the usb 3.0 to your computers usb 3.0. Then use cloning software like acronis or something like that. Ive done it using acronis.
Also, fyi, acronis and or other cloning software usually comes as a free download with most ssd you purchase...

your suposed to screw the ssd into the caddy hello there are screw mounting holes for a reason,, other wise seems to be a cool video i just order the same docking station today will have a review on mine when it gets here as well, the hardrive was formatted properly you need left over space on SSD drives on widows computers.. for relocation writing ..

No. Make sure that the USB cable is disconnected from your computer.
Customer Service wasn't very helpful.
Amazon would not allow me to post this revue.
After I purchased this item, It took me a while to connect it for use, close to the 30 day limit.
I tried a 4tb hd, tried adjusting it in Windows Disc Magment that also couldn't see it.
I contacted the company who suggested, You guessed it, Go to disc management for setup.
When I replied that it was already done, I got no replied answer back from the company.
I have a few Wavelink products but this one may have been a lemon. Customer service could definitely use improvement.

Ah. I had to mess around when i did that. It worked for me, but it involved going into the command prompt as an administrator. Too long a process to share and have it work. It can be done though, at least for me it worked. Watch some youtube vids of people that have done it, sorry im not more helpful
@@coolstuffhowtoandfishing5488 I've done almost everything to try and get it to work including the admin implementation but to no avail. Just being able to share this and possibly have someone be aware, along with your reply, make this post worth it. I've got more concern from you than the Wavelink company itself. Thanks again for your concern.
That is unfortunate. Keep at it, I really feel youll get it with trial, error and persistance....

The time it takes will depend on the size of the drives and what you have on them.

It works. Its when wish tells you they are selling you something for .50 cents as clickbait and you click it and find out they want $70 for shipping lol
