- Flea Market In An Old Movie Theater?! - Weekends With Wallie & Kayla Ep. 87 - 6/20/21. Today we check out Rossi's Market and Flea Market in North Versailles, PA which is 20 minutes east of Pittsburgh. Located just off US Route 30, you can check out all the vendors and what they have to sell as well as admire all of the old movie theater aesthetics which are still proudly on display everywhere in this building. Truly a unique experience!

I worked as a projectionist at this Loews Cineplex. It has come full circle because the Sunday Flea Market at Great Valley Shopping Center, Greater Pittsburgh Drive-In and Eastland Super-Flea have always been popular. The Destinta Theater down the road started out as a JC Penny warehouse, then the PACE Warehouse up until it had the Super-Flea when Eastland Mall was condemned then Destinta and Big Lots used the space.
Wow, they put flea markets in some real interesting places. This one is the most unique I have seen.
You could call it a Movie Flea-tre!
Fun fact: This is the same flea market that Jack Stauber got his instruments, ideas, and items that really Kickstarted his UA-cam career
What a cool way to repurpose an old building!
I knew this was North Versailles just by seeing the thumbnail. I have a lot of memories at this place!
That's honestly a creative place for a flea market
Wow 👌 awesome video
This was such a cool video. I liked the fact that they repurposed the building and kept the building as it was originally as much as possible.
Another cool video!!! I think it's interesting that in the two theaters with the center wall removed they removed the screens but left the almost floor to ceiling speaker cabinets that set behind the screen. That seems like it would have some considerable value!
Good find, good find! I’m a sucker for flea markets. I’m gonna have to check this out one day.
The first and only movie I ever saw when this place was still a theater was Schwarzenegger's "End of Days." Goes to show you just how long this place has been a flea market. I believe it was only open for less than 2 years, as the Destinta Theater (Now Big Phoenix) just a couple of miles down route 30 had opened a year prior to this one and was far superior in most ways, including pricing. Well, at least it was superior in the late 90's early 2000's lol I've sold stuff in the back parking lot before with friends. $25 per vendor lot. There used to be a little old lady inside who sold cookies and pepperoni rolls, My Good God in heaven were her pepperoni rolls amazing. Thanks for documenting this little local oddity. Hope your vid drives some more people to this spot in the future :)
My former Main Street theater turned into an oriental rug store. They still have a box office window with a "No Infants" sign. The Fry's Electronics in Concord, CA was in a former cineplex, but Fry's just went out of business this year.
This place looks awesome. I may have to make a Saturday trip out there.
Speaking of movies my theater is finally open again and I went to see the new Peter Rabbit movie and I liked it, just got back home and now I must find something to do...
Cool 😎
Wow! Could find lots of goodies, I'm sure. Thank you guys! 🤗
Looks just like the one at the old Randall Park Mall.
Like your Fle market vidow it was cool..So was the air plane inside the place.
If only they could have turned the old Southland 9 into something like this!
Looks like it was a former wehrenberg galaxy mega plex theater to an old amc or an offshoot. I believe Lowe’s is a sister brand to wehrenberg at one point, I could be wrong. If you Google wehrenberg theaters and what they look like, they have that iconic glass archway out front. Reminds me so much of it. Kinda wacky they turned it into a flea market. Anyway, great video! Definitely a memory trip with the hot wheels. Me and my nephew when we were kids would play with those and tech deck. I remember him having the green one with the flames. Ah.. the priceless Saturday’s of cartoons, fun, and good memories! Thank you for that! ❤️
This video is awesome and sad at the same time. The outside area used to be absolutely loaded with row after row after row of people outside. Now it looks so sparse....I spent so many weekends here. Awesome video as usual!! The Greensburg Pizza Hut is closed btw...might be a good video?
He already filmed it
What a cool place and an awesome video! 💕😘👍 I enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
Great content as usual! Proud sub since before you had 60 subs! Love it!
Great video. I try to visit Rossi’s every time I’m in town. Thanks.
What an awesome place to visit
I love flea markets to you always find good deals. I bet as soon as wally heard they have a snack bar he said food I'm there. May not be Bojangles but food nonetheless. Great video thanks for taking the time to share parts of yours and Kaylas weekend with us have a great weekend guys
So this place was where an artist by the name of jack stauber got all of his music equipment, and he even made a song about the people he bought the equipment from in his album Hi-Lo. It was called john and nancy, named after the people who ran the vender he bought the equipment from.
Despite the theater only being open for a little over a year they made a really big deal upon opening. I remember they had these huge spot lights that shot into the sky. It was a part of the new development plan (along with the walmart) which filled in the vacant land. As the majority of that area a few years prior use to be a old drive in theater
Just a year??? Why did this close so quickly?
@@happycube It really never did that well. They built this huge theater expecting huge numbers, but the people didn’t really show. Plus, a little over a mile away on the other side of town, they have another theater (it was built shortly before Lowes)…. The Destinta (now Phoenix Big Cinemas) which wasn’t as flashy, but it had much better prices and is still open today
This looks identical to the Lowe's (now AMC) theater in Stafford, TX! Very cool to see how they repurposed this place AND kept one of the theater rooms intact! I also saw many of the Hot Wheels I had when I was a kid, too (including some of the ones you had. I had the Caravan one too). In fact, I still have all of them in my garage!
That is so cool and nice
Magic Johnson ❤
If I lived closer I would go every weekend
Nice music at the end of the video
Good video WallieB26 😃😃😃
Nice video wallieb26
Match box was around long before Hot Wheels but i think the ladder has been around now much longer and a much bigger variety too.
that’s pretty cool
This looks a lot like the one that used to be at Randall Park Mall. It had an arson fire in the concession area
WOW. 😀
Nice Wallie
Hey wallie just a heads up there's a indoor outdoor flee market in marietta Ohio that used to be a grocery store. I think you'd really like it
It's called rinks
Looks like it used to be amc
I love how they repurposed this place 👌
good use of it
WOW. !!!!! OMG. !!! this place is going on my Bucket list. !!!!!!! ☺👍🤞🤞🤞🤞😳 i live in Phila & don't have a car so i have to find about getting a ride or taking a train. It's unfortunately a 5HR TRIP. !!!!!!😣😣😣😣 But i HAVE TO GET THERE @ LEAST ONE TIME. !!!👍👍👍👍 Thanks for making this video & letting people know about this place. !!😍😉 I know you said the vendors CHANGE all the time I'm mainly interested in MOVIES. How about you & if so did you pickup any good movies ? Thanks. 👍☺
Closed 20 years ago??? The theatre must've been a short-lived 5 years or less run. Nice to see the place creatively recycled!!!
