  • Basically this is just doing a continuity test on the sensor inside of the reservoir to make sure that it is still good before moving along to more expensive possible repairs. The brake lamp indicator is solid red in the on position at all times when the vehicle has been started. It also has the ABS, traction control, ESP, BAS lamps on, and with the vehicle running and you push the ABS button nothing happens at all to change anything also the cruise control is not working at this time. We went to AutoZone and they said that the passenger side rear wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced which turned out to not be correct. We are currently waiting on a better scanner to arrive via Amazon in a couple days however I am pretty sure this is going to be the steering angle sensor needing to be replaced. But hopefully we plug in the bi-directional scanner and find out that a different wheel speed sensor is actually just bad.
In this test you are simply testing continuity. If the sensor is working correctly inside the reservoir of brake fluid then you will not get a beep when testing continuity with a standard multimeter. If you siphon some of the fluid out or even sometimes if you simply top off the fluid to the top of the container it will trigger continuity in either direction by saying it is too full or it is too empty at a minimum, if you are able to achieve continuity with a beeping on your multimeter this will prove that the sensor is in fact working correctly. That will allow you to move on to more complex Replacements And or Diagnostics
