Greg tasting the herbs was hilarious, reminds me of a kid puts everything and anything in his mouth 😂😂.old goat is behind Hoss and bottom shelf behind herb collection ❤
I am an herbalist from WV and this is my JAM! We make grape and rosemary pizzas...pizza crust, shredded cheese like white cheddar, mozzarella, or goat cheese, sliced red grapes, and diced fresh rosemary. YUM! If you have a cold or flu, any of the "pizza herbs" can be helpful as a tea, tincture, etc. (basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme) Sage is very drying (as Greg found out when he tasted it, lol). It is good for sore throats, moist wound that are hard to heal, etc. For a wound you might make a strong tea, allow it to cool, then spray or dab it on or make a compress for the wound, or you could make a poultice using sage. It's good for toning tissue. Holy Basil is calming to the nerves. Personally, I don't care much for its flavor, but if I need it as medicine, I use it anyway. Cilantro can help draw heavy metals from the body. I'm so glad I don't have the "soap gene"...I LOVE cilantro. Coriander (the seeds) are nice when toasted in a pan before using (I like to do that with most seeds like fennel, mustard, caraway, etc.) Motherwort is one that I use now and then. I am a flighty person and have been through some very stressful things over the last several years and I use Motherwort to calm my nerves and slow my racing heart. Love calendula salve for any skin problems. Great for diaper rash in babies. Calendula is a pretty good antiviral too. Dill helps with insomnia. Thanks for sharing about some great herbs! (I ordered a pound of turmeric from you guys--planted it last week!) God bless!
I love stevia!!! Use it in my tea blend. It is 200-400 times sweeter than sugar so be careful how much you use! Love Rosemary Gladstar. ❤️ I follow Jill and Kaylee . ❤️
I got Santo Cilantro and Garlic Chives from Hoss. Great germination. Stopped the Hoss HQ Thursday and had the pleasure of meeting Miss Maggie. Thanks for all the useful information you provide.
I grew Roselle for the first time last year, only had three or 4 plants my mistake was putting them in a raised bed L O L. They survive tropical storm which blew them over and they still produce tremendous amount of flowers last fall. Was able to make wine ,jams ,jellies and tea. Looking forward to the new variety that you have ,hopefully it should do good down in Southwest Florida 10 B
Love that new close up “Greg Cam” so we can see those faces when he does those tastings! Great show! It’s about time for my once every few years re-dedication to herbs! 😂 One day I’ll get it right! (Maybe)
I had to harvest my Hoss variety pack here near north of Gainesville Florida. My first time growing onions. I had standing water many times this year, and I feel I did not get enough fertilizer to them because of it. However, my harvest of onions will last until the fall. I am happy with my onions, but next year I will do better. =)
I like this set arrangement better than the last one. It's much better with you sitting behind the same side of the table. I have been hoping you would change it back, thank you! I use a shovel to take care of snakes. Hit them with the side edge of the shovel. It is bigger and heavier than a hoe.
Sheila, I use that big old knife to kill mean ornery roosters! Mine’s a Gerber but I’m an old girl who loves knives! My corn is up too…at least an inch. Gotta get in a succession crop. Tomatoes are in and I need to plant cucumber seeds today if ground temp is right here in East Texas where Spring was EARLY!
Calendula...tea, salves, soaps, tincture. Great for anything skin. The whole flower is medicinal. One of the best salves for diaper rashes and basically any rash or skin irritation.
Zone 6 here. We have 4 rows of potatoes, 3 rows of onions and a row of beets. Still supposed to get some cold nights, but I'm behind where I should be on my seed starting. I see the old goat behind the seed tin behind Greg.
Old goat is peeking out from behind the Hoss seed tin behind Greg. My onions are not getting big. Maybe I planted too late and didn't take care of them. I'm busy trying to build raised beds and filling them. It's a lot of work! It will be worth it in the long run. Can't wait to get my sweet potato slips from ya'll.
I'm gonna pray my Frost does not get my Roselle this year!!! I am so excited for the new seed. I never can get it to flower but the leaves are really good fresh or to dry for tea. They are full of mucilage which is beneficial for digestion.
Well, the Old Goat is standing behind the Hoss flower seed tin on the bottom shelf behind Greg. Greg, tell Sheila even the good old USMC K-Bar can be a EDC knife! I'm like Greg, a little behind on getting stuff out in the garden. But we have 3 more nights of temps in the 30's here (starting tonight). Should be the last gasp of winter for this year. I keep saying I'm going to do a proper herb growing area, but never seem to get it done. Just end up plugging in a few herbs here and there in the garden.
Rosemary is one I can not tolerate like some that can’t with cilantro. I don’t know what it is.. I won’t even order a prime rib if we go out to eat, because they mostly have rosemary. that taste stays with me and I’ve even gotten sick from so much of it in a pasta salad someone had made. But I do grow it, and dehydrate it to give to my chickens in the Winter months.
Thanks for all of the wisdom and information, I learned that I want to grow some lemon drop, lol. I have a question on turmeric, after growing it how do I harvest, dig all of the roots or leave some? (Zone 7) And how do I preserve it? Dehydrate or freeze dry? I want to use most of it medicinally for inflammation. Thanks!
Old goat is behind Greg behind the seed container! Boy my Hossenator plants are really doing great! Our chickens just left! Cant wait to start laying plastic down, hopefully it will get warm on time this year! Talking about frost tonight and tomorrow night! Covered up my flowers in my yard! Man i got so many tomatoe plants ready to set out! My plants from you all are in the hoop house in raised beds! You all doing great job! Thanks so much! See you all later! Marlene from SC
I love hearing what you do in the deep south, doesn't really apply to me but gives me ideas. The Old Goat is behind the seed tin. Thing about herbs and men... the women were the ones that always knew their value... ever heard of Granny Witches?
Will the strawberries I purchased from you produce again this year? Whats the best way to preserve them over the summer and will they comeback next year this is my first time growing them
Technically yes, However we have found they are best treated as annuals. After they produce, discard and plant again in the fall. Strawberries are known for disease issues. Greg
Greg trying to pronounce the names of the herbs cracks me up. I have some basil growing in my raised beds with my Hossinator tomatoes. I do want some holy basil, I also have dill growing and about to plant my cukes tomorrow if the good Lord permits. I should send some photos of my Hoss garden.
Hey from SC. I cannot grow rosemary for anything! Third year trying. Going to try to direct sow it soon instead of starting indoors. 🤷🏻♀️ hope you can sell some prime seeds!
Greg happy wife happy life, I like the table this way too.😊 The Old Goat is hiding behind the Hoss Seed Tin behind Greg on lower shelf.❤ No onions Greg… That’s lots of snakes in a week🥲 Those onions Mamma Hoss Grew are nice😊
Lots of seeds starts going like tomatoes, okra onions, lots of goodies, etc. but not moving a whole lot out to the backyard except for the garlic is going lettuce and some other cold weather veggies! Can't wait for it to warm up as we've also got squash starts going and they are getting ready!
I always have much better luck direct sowing herbs and if you let them go to seed, you never have to plant them again. I have cilantro and basil coming up everywhere and they transplant easily. I moved them, left them, and gave them to everyone I know. 😂
Hey, from middle Tennessee zone 7B! Out walking the dog while I listen in! Cold here again, so hoping to warm up by Sunday! Nights, now in the mid 30s again!

As much as men like seasonings on their food, I’m VERY shocked they don’t grow herbs. That’s how we season all our meats.
Can make an extract using vinegar too just not as powerful.
