Took my son to first 7's tournament this year... Perry was his favourite. That's tough for a kiwi dad but deserved for a guy of this character, impact to the game and great to watch no matter what jersey you support.

With things changing in the NFL and CFB, I wouldn't be surprised if more US athletes earlier in their careers start the switch. I know I'm telling many young footballers to look at rugby as another competitive option, regardless of professional status.

I'm a Fiji 7's fan but I was rooting for Kenya 7's when they played in L.A. last month. I was there for this past tournament and the Kenyan fans turned up and showed out 👍🏼

Carlin opened the door for Perry and introduced a lot of Americans to Rugby. Carlin IMO was the 1st American 7s Rugby player that people knew of outside of Rugby because of his track career and Olympic tryouts. Once he tried Rugby 7’s, the marketing around him exploded . Carlin was fast on the straight line sprint, but couldn’t cut like Perry. I believe Perry is a better all around player.

Plus perry has been way more consistent, and even if you are an average player in sevens you will be mentioned due to the fact everyone can see that at least you are consistent. Why would some USFL player decide to give up football and learn a whole new sport just to make the same amount of money lol. That would be completely illogical. And that’s if we’re talking purely financial incentive. Most football players at the college and professional level love the game of football more than anything in their live’s and thus have no desire to go play rugby.

I wish the Eagles would transition guys like Baker and Carlin Isles into 15s after playing 7s, I know 7s has become its own thing and there are the Olympic opportunities but feel like some of the USAs best talent never plays 15s at a RWC and would love to see it

The fact that a one trick pony like Perry can be a superstar in 7's makes you realize it is a completely different game... like decaf coffe or non alcohol beer. Still mildly interesting to watch, though. But not nearly like the real thing.

Watching Baker fly down the field is such a sight! My kids had to tell me to chill out the shouting while watching the USA- HSBC LA Sevens matches.
I was there also saw him score a try after a amazing chip vs all blacks such a fun player to watch
