The hardwood floors: Iconic. The tin ceiling: Showstopping. The foyer: One of a kind. The cellar: Never the same. I love this house.
hahahaaaa same!!
I literally fell the same!! I was just having this discussion with my best friend that my dream house is a Victorian with a mixture of modern and art deco decor inside. Very 2020s does the 1920s
Beautiful. Finally, an old home that hasn't been gutted and replaced with black, white and grey colors.
I would love to see your journey of moving in and decorating if that’s sum you’d like to do :)
I could make that happen!!
Yes!! At least a tour once you're done decorating 😍
Seconded
Any time someone leaves their safe space to do something normal they glamorize it and think it’s a journey
Yaaaaaas you better WERQ Ms. Lawyer Lady with the victorian realness.
hahahah THANK YOU
BRB moving to the cities to be Leeja's tenant.
lolllllll
@@LeejaMiller I mean I was thinking about making my way there anyways 😏
@@barijade depends on what you’re looking for. We moved away almost 6 years ago and you couldn’t pay me to go back, but I don’t like people. I mean, I like people, there are just too many of them in the Cities.
There's so many million-dollar mansion tours on YT that I just don't care about but THIS... this is cool. Would love to see a before/after of the basement if you ever do work on it-- there's enough windows & space down there to make a cozy little cave with some new floors and paint on the walls!
Would LOVE to know if the doorframe in the study was possibly a secret passage at some point. Also the crawlspace to nowhere under the kitchen-- I immediately thought "trapdoor." Wonder if there was anything there that was sealed up (and could possibly be reopened?)
And the wash days!!! Can't believe you thought that was creepy. SO cool. If I ever repainted that wall I would simply leave a square around that untouched, or even frame it. What a neat piece of history to have literally engraved in your home.
I lived in a house built in the 1800’s in southern MN, and the basement was straight out of the saw movies. There was a crawl space with a dirt floor that was presumably a root cellar, and when you would shine a light in you could see all of the eyes of the spiders living in it.
omg i hate it!
I’d definitely avoid bringing an LED flashlight down there if you can avoid it! 😅
@Alexandroth Productions But the spiders live there…
That's a hard no!
As a British person who has always lived in Old houses. I adore your house. I know you are freaked out by the basement, but man, that is what sold me on it. ALL THAT STORAGE 🤩
Hahah I know right! Someone suggested turning it into a speakeasy though and now I'm obsessed
@@LeejaMiller if you panel off the walls and ceilings down there, it would have the profile of a traditional cottage. You could lean into that and have a house within a house, it's so big.
Or make it guest quarters for the guests you don't like very much. Lol
Maybe Paul is the fish? He’s just there chilling on the pipe and keeping watch of your basement for any ghosts, for you! Good job Fish Paul 👌 (LOVE this house and can’t wait to see what you do with it!)
hahahaha brilliant
The woodwork is magnificent! 😍 And a tin ceiling?! Amazing. Great find. Thanks for sharing!
Right????
That front room is perfect for Christmas. Put the tree in that nook and garland and bows across the mantle. An ornate guilded mirror above the fireplace... I'm decorating you're house in my mind and it's #stunning. I can't wait to see what you do with the space.
I'm obsessed with your house. It's everything I've ever wanted in a house.
RIGHT?? I want to get some vintage christmas decor and really play it up
@@LeejaMiller the house demands that honestly and it's going to be amazing!
That's the first thing I thought too
@@LeejaMiller I'm in West Virginia and we have thrift stores everywhere. The first of the year, I hit up all the Catholic stores because they have boat loads of Christmas decorations for nearly nothing. I went in one a couple years ago and asked the lady up front how much for the whole aisle... She said, ugh.... 20 bucks?
😲🙃 Wasn't me. ☠️
There were loads of vintagggge ornaments. Hand blown and painted, handmaid wooden ones, etc.
And in the mix, there was a Christmas tree box, a regular looking one, it said it was prelit so I opened it to try the lights, and boom biotch. Someone had put their vintage aluminum tree in that box. 6' classic aluminum tree with the original rotating light. The pompom one.
I legit started crying. 😂
At the time they were worth $1,000 or so. I think they've came down see this past year but gah.
I gave it to my momma because she's always talked about wanting one because it was her favorite tree growing up that my papaw put up. :) She puts it up every year and not a soul is allowed to touch it. 🤣😂🤣😂
Not sure why I went on a tangent about Christmas decorations... Sadly Christmas decorations are my all time favorite thing. :D
Tl;Dr: I have hoarding tendencies when it comes to Christmas decorations.
Absolutely stunning ! So much potential 🤯
Thank you!!
Congratulations! I lived in the Midwest for 8 years and there were so many architectural gems and at prices unheard of in other parts of North America. It's great that you love it so much and see its beauty and potential. I wish you all the very best in your new home.
Aw thank you!!! Agreed, I got off the coasts so I could have an opportunity like this one
Christine McConnell would approve this content. It's a great sign that your house has the old doors and windows. This is an awesome moment for you. Congratulations.
I absolutely love it. Sitting here in England wondering why you have found a better Victorian house than I've ever seen here. Ps. Noticed that you picked up pace when running out your creepy basement. Congratulations 👏
Hahahah it's creepy even in the daytime!! And thank you!!
@@LeejaMiller you're welcome. Now not to make it creepier but I couldn't help myself... one, two Paul's coming for you. Three, four he's at your door. Five, six he's picking up sticks. Seven, eight you've sealed your fate. 👻
I am drooling over your floors. That inlay work is so beautiful. And its a fun kind of quirky how the front rooms are all super Victorian and the kitchen is a different era altogether. I wouldn't change the aesthetics either. Just as long as water/heat/electrical is safe, its good to go. Great catch!
thank you!! agreed!
A capricon's dream. I can only imagine how you're planning to decorate to highlight the traditional architecture while integrating some modern ideas!!!
oh, that’s gorgeous
if you are redoing the wiring, maybe use the opportunity to wire for cat5e or cat6 internet? that way you can have access points so your wifi never drops
also you could renovate the basement into a workout room! or a home theatre
I would almost be tempted to make the cellar super bright and peaceful with cozy vibes so you’re not spooked! That kitchen is soooo beautiful ☺️
omg HOW though?? I've thought about what I could do to make it less spooky and have come up with a blank since the ceilings are so low and the walls are so creepy.
? if the electrical experts are still there, add light, light, light.... if you get some time, paint anything that can be painted = white .... it may be these two steps are relatively inexpensive and will at least make the place less depressingly creepy (= you may want to wait till after Halloween, if you celebrate that holiday because it would make for a great haunted house ....) -- also YES 1937 wash days etchings are wonderful
I had to pause the video to look at that tin ceiling and gape. Gorgeous. And all that wood... That house is a treasure.
My father started out restoring really old houses around Toronto so they have a special feel for me. We lived in one when I was really small.
You should turn one of those small rooms in the basement into a wine cellar. It would be perfect!
ooooo!! that's an interesting idea!!!
I think the "swimming pool nook" was part of an old coal chute?
What a beautiful home! I love Victorians. The fireplaces and the pocket doors are to die for!
right?? Thank you!!
I am obsessed. I'm mighty envious as somebody who will probably never be able to afford to buy a house. I'm so happy that this beautiful house has been bought by somebody who sees how amazing it is and will care for it.
Creepy basements are genuinely my favorite thing and I love everything about this.
Just Leeja, the (future) plants, and the ghosts. Iconic.
hahaah omg you're right. and moira snoring into the abyss
@@LeejaMiller how could I forget Moira?
I hope you do another video to show us how you decorated the place!
Painting the tin ceiling room green seems so unnatural to me because the blue and gold Color combo is iconic. The anicient Egyptians really knew where it’s at
WOW!!! What a beautiful house!! A tin roof are you kidding me, that is beyond iconic
The room between the bathroom and master bedroom is probably actually a dressing room.
Love the house!!!
The house is stunning!! Brings back the memories of when I bought my house in Jamaica Plain in Boston after searching for 2 years for a perfect home! I had walls in my creepy basement plastered and painted and put in some light fixtures because I hated it! It wasn't expensive and the transformation was unreal! Looking forward to new house videos!
Ooo that's good to know! Love Jamaica Plain there are some gorgeous houses there I bet yours is a gem
Those floors have killed me. They're so gorgeous. And those windows off the kitchen??? Ugh, dead. Good on you for getting rid of that knob and tube wiring
I love Victorian Era houses, they have so much charm and elegance. I live for the creepy aesthetic. 😊
right???
I love how it looks lawyery
Sickening!!!!!! There's nothing like having your own home. This house is stunning!!!!!!
thank you!!
Damn that house is so beautiful! As long as the lights and heat work, you got running water, nothing is leaking, and you're safe, that's the important stuff. All the other imperfecions give the house character.
agreed!
when other people live your dreams...
Oh, Leeja, sending so much love and light while you settle into your stunning property 😍💖
😱I'm OBSESSED!!! My home was built in 1850 something (there's no record of the exact year) but aside from the extremely uneven floor, janky dwarf hallway, and creepy basement lol you can't tell it's that old because there been so many updates and add-ons over the years. But fun fact it was originally a school house so that's pretty cool. Congratulations on the new home!
ugh cool!!! I know I was floored at how well this one was preserved, to think over almost 140 years no one had the audacity to fully change it, though a lot of the woodwork isn't original it's as close as it could be!
@@LeejaMiller lol oh yeah for sure, that was an amazing find, thank goodness nobody tried changing it 🙌. And regardless if the wood work is original or not it's still stunning and I never would have known the difference lol
Love love love. Post as many updates about your house as much as you want! Old houses have quirks and it’s just part of the character and texture of everyday living as the steward of such an old dwelling. I live in a 90 year old house and creaky floor boards, weird little doors, defunct coal chute are just part of it! Fun!
Best house, literally my dream. Worst basement. I'm not scared of many things but I can't be in basements with many rooms, tons of open air behind me where a fucking PHANTASM can manifest. Scared. But the house is incredible. I'm in love. 😍
This house is iconic! Love Minneapolis old architecture! It’s and absolute honor to own such a gorgeous property! Please keep sharing!
This house has a soul and a personality. This is a place that enriches you as person. That basement though is inviting for so many dark thoughts.
Leeja, your house is simply amazing. Don't change anything that isn't necessary, its what makes it unique and special to you and itself.
Congratulations
I like you more after hearing you speak about old houses like that. ❤️
That woodwork (chef’s kiss) enjoy!
I really love this house! I go on tours of houses like this, because a historic preservation organization in my state and works with owners to host open houses. It's a lot of fun. One time, one of the houses one tour had just been purchased, and the owner was in the process of organizing it's restoration, so we got to see what it looked like before restoration. The one's that aren't ever abandoned are really cool too, but will definitely require work, as you have seen.
This house is STUNNING.
I never thought I could be this jealous in my life..... WHAT A DREAM HOUSE!!!!!
I absolutely love old buildings! they have a lot of craftmanship and personality. Please keep us updated! I'd love to see more of this house!
I watched the latest video you posted and said to myself, "I wonder if she has a house tour video." Just looking at the background of that video I just knew you live in a beautiful place. This is one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen. Best wishes to you.
You had me at creepy basement 🧡😂
That's stunning! I'm so excited for you!
The detailing is *chefs kiss*
agreeeeeed
I LOVE old houses!!!! You call the creaky/ uneven floors quirks, I call them safety features. 🥰 Plus, they're gorgeous! I love that you're focused on the preservation of it, too! **Bringing it to code is one thing, gutting it for "open concept" or to give it "clean lines", is something completely different. Maybe it's great for some, but it's incredibly sad to see all that workmanship destroyed.**
If you know any empaths, psychics, and/or mediums, it wouldn't hurt to cleanse and bless this house so you can both have a fresh start upon moving in. Your house probably already appreciates you considering how you want to take care of it, so you're off to a good start! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Reminds me of the Altbau buildings here in Berlin
Omg what do I do with the creepy basement though? Just leave it creepy? Also I'll have to look up the Altbau buildings, sounds cool!
@@LeejaMiller I would fill the basement with lots of light to make it a little less spooky 😅 Maybe you could tile the floors/walls so you don't have that creepy concrete feel to it, then it's more like a bathroom. That fish has to stay though!
I LOVE Victorian houses!!! This is a gorgeous home!!! Congratulations, and keep us up to date with more videos!!
The hardwood floors and that tin ceiling..swoon worthy! That clawfoot tub and the walk in closet beautiful. All the molding and stained glass accents...the stuff dreams are made of! Congratulations!
3:15 very scary, legendary
Omg this is my dream house! Congrats Leeja this is amazing
aw thank you!!!
This house feels so much like you. I'm so glad you guys found each other
Aw thank you!! I agree!
It is amazing!! I am so happy for you, and congratulations on this next chapter !!!! So excited to see what's to come!!
Me, less than a minute in: delighted I'm not the only person who calls it the FOY-YAY (Fwa-yay for me actually, but all the same, weird birds of a feather.)
lolllll yeah I do it just to be a little annoying
Come to the UK! We all say it like that here!
@@Emily-tj3di omg not weird just british bless
That is how I was taught to say it.
Wait how else do people say it? lol I’m from California and we all say it like that. At least myself and everyone I know.
Congratulations!! Beautiful home, thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see your new home journey.
My home was built in 1915 and our flooring is like an exact match ! Lovely .
We literally just finished building our new home and I completely agree, there is something magical about an old home too. I'm trying so hard to bring in loved pieces and aspects to our new home to give it that "been loved" vibe! Very intrigued to see your projects and updates! 💜👏
Absolutely stunning... WOW
Wow!!! your house is stunning!!!!!! Super happy for you. Can't wait to see it furnished.
this is so exciting for you! I'm looking forward to seeing the decor choices and finishes you choose
This is the coolest things I’ve ever seen. And the “wash days” wow. Art. History. Spectacular. Wow. 👏🏻👏🏻 I am so envious of your home.
Leeja, i lived in an old farm house and you can get a paint sprayer and paint everything white. Helps a lot when you have to be down there for some time, makes it super bright. We didnt really clean it first. The basement walls you could climb. They tapered out the the ground under the house lolol you could see dirt and ground above the rock walls they just piled for walls.
THIS HOUSE IS GORGEOUS!!!!!
This house is absolutely a dream! Basement is scary as hell but hey 🤷♀️. The character is irresistible! Love it! Can't wait to see more of this!
Beautiful! Can’t wait to see updates!!!
I am thoroughly excited to see more updates
Yes Sister!!! It's beautiful and amazing! Congrats on owning such an historic home!
This house is perfection.
Absolutely loved this! We had a house built in 1914 and it was rough to keep up with the maintenance, but I definitely still love old homes! Can’t wait to see everything you do!
The 3 shelves along the staircase are stunningly beautiful!!!
Ohmygod the tin ceiling !!!!!!! Beautifulllllll
Seriously, my dream home! I'm so glad to hear that you want to preserve it, not try to modernize it. Happy for you!
So beautiful! An old house like that is my absolute dream
This is amazing Leeja, good for you. Major inspiration for everyone because you deserve it all
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Please post more about this house - updates, renovations, restorations, history - absolutely in love with this! 💖💖💖
yay thank you!!
very excited to see how the whole thing turns out
Also, THANK YOU for preserving the house and its History!!!
Don't know whether you saw the movie - but that staircase gives me Crimson Peak vibes.
LOVE the tin ceiling, that room will be stunning with green walls. Congratulations on such a gorgeous house!!
I love it, I love it, I love it. Congratulations. And remember, if you open up that walled off doorway and find a doll sitting there, just wall it back up again. LoL. Cheers from Vancouver, B.C.
Its MASSIVE! What a beautiful house, WELL DONE! I remember when I bought my place, the excitement to get in and start putting my stamp on the place was immense. One tip (Which I am sure you are already doing) but create a pinterest board for each room and then whenever you see things that you like pin them to the boards and after a while the boards will start to take shape of an aesthetic or theme - and then you can build on that!
Enjoy! excited to see more as you get in and make it your own
Stu xx
Your home is literal perfection.
Omg Leeja! It’s gorgeous!
WOW....that place is beautiful! What a find.
Yes. I LOVE history ♥ and i love old houses...its beautiful thank you for the tour!
I LOVE your house so jealous!! I bought my 1st house in the middle of 2020. It was built in 1960. However, I am just off the historic district surrounded by beautiful homes built in the mid-to-late 1800s. I'm in love with my town. I get to look at beautiful architecture on my evening walks.
Wow I’m speechless!
So envious!!!!
Love love love the craftsmanship of older historic homes. Congratulations!
agreed, thank you!!
I’m already obsessed with this. I need more videos of progress!!
I can do that!
So excited for you and your beautiful home! Congratulations Leeja 💛 really looking forward to all the house content, can't wait to see what design decisions you end up doing. So stoked!!
thank you!!!
Beautiful! Looking forward to part 2!!
Yay! Thank you!
