  • 32,233 people accessed services related to homelessness in Colorado in 2022. In a state where the average home price is over $500,000 and rent prices have increased by 54% since 2020, low-income individuals and unhoused families seeking housing assistance are often in the unfortunate position of waiting 18-24 months for housing opportunities.
While traditional homelessness services attempt to solve the core problem of homelessness-the lack of a home- there remain many gaps for the unhoused community. As we continue to face a lack of affordable and available housing, libraries, schools, and transportation agencies have become default service providers to the increasing number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Join local experts in these sectors who provide creative solutions in serving those looking for safety, warmth, and other services while experiencing homelessness.
    Panelists include:
    - Director Joy Ann Ruscha, District B, Regional Transportation District (RTD)
    - Brianne Hanson, Community Resource Program Manager, Denver Public Library,
    - Kayla Rockhold, Community Resources Supervisor, Pikes Peak Library District, Penrose Library
    - Esther Rivera, Manager of Federal Programs from Denver Public Schools Homeless Education Network
