Say what you will about her team comp, but the techno riffs followed by that sick ass beat drop got me hyped to tears the first time. A Pokémon moment for sure!
The guitar instrumentization is super stylish, gives it a nice "spanish" nod for this gen's regional theme. The fight didnt really feel like a champion fight to me, but 90% of that is because the game's just packed with "other final bosses" which is amazing in its own right, and overshadows geeta a bit.
I always got the feeling Geeta was holding back. Her biggest priorities are maintaining the future of Paldea by running the academy and league, not so much battling. You can argue that's the case for all the other champions, Alder especially, but Geeta wants to foster an environment of multiple champions, not a system with only one. That's honestly really refreshing.
@@PokeDragoKnite it would explain her decision to make glimmora her last mon when it's best used as a lead, and her Kinggambit early when he's better used as an anchor
I think she isn’t actually the best trainer in paldea and is just a test you need to pass to become a champion ranked trainer. There’s probably rules and regulations with the Pokémon league that limits what Pokémon she can use, although her being the head of the Pokémon league means she could change those rules but I’m sure she wouldn’t want to make it impossible for trainers to beat her
Didn't she literally say that she has trouble holding back, though? Honestly, if they had removed that line and inserted some lines from other people like Nemona on how she seems to be always holding back and if she was written more to just handle the champion rank test as a matter of business, it perfectly could've worked. She uses a mediocre team and "mis"-uses some Pokés since she's just testing you on if you'd be worthy of being a candidate, and then she'd use a stronger/better team (or the same team with more brutal moves) and more sense in what order you fight the pokémon when she finally stops holding back in a post-game red-style battle. This way, instead of being ridiculed as a Diantha-level champion, she'd be revered as a top-tier champion and her personality would be well-received instead of now people also hating her since in-game, people seem to dislike her aswell. Like, this wouldn't interefere with Nemona's part of being the final boss since she actually beat that Geeta and is champion level ranked, *but* still calls Geeta "Primera", which could've been a nod to how she can easily beat the "champion level test" Geeta, but the real Geeta she got to know after training with her still kicks her ass.

I love how much this theme utilizes the castanets and acoustic guitar. Both instruments that are quite common in music that originate from Spain such as the Flamenco. Hell, I believe the very beginning of the song uses a sequence known as a Paso Doble. It's the trumpeting sound mostly associated with bullfights. I just wish Geeta was a little more challenging and utilized a pseudo-legendary on her team. People keep talking about her connections with Area Zero due to her Ace, Glimmora. To take it even further, 4 members of her team can be found in Area Zero: Espathra, Kingambit* (as wild Bisharp holding the Leader Crest with a horde of Pawniard), Gogoat, and Glimmora. Only Veluza and Avalugg cannot be found in Area Zero, likely due to the lack of water areas.
I find it interesting that being a “champion” is more of a ranking for trainers in this region rather than truly being the strongest of the region like the others.

Yeah, honestly, I thought Nemona was joking when she said she was a champion. Honestly, though, Geeta being a no specific type elite 5 is a very interesting concept, and I can't wait for Gen 10 to also have no type gym leaders
As a champion isn’t the best but it’s battle theme is amazing. We can find traces from other Pokémon battle themes: The battle with Lance, The battle with Unova Elite four, the battle with a legendary Pokémon (unova) and a bit of the lake guardians battle theme, reflecting she is “superior” to the other champions (at least in the lore) Also the Spanishlike music in her theme is amazing
Superior in the Paldea, at the very least, because we don't know how she fares against other region's Champions - especially those from Europe, which are apparently the strongest of the bunch, in lore (like Diantha, Celine or Leon) But... with her admitting that Nemona managed to defeat her, someone who goes all out all the time, without showing the true potential... yeah, there, uh, might be some hidden info about the truth
It's kind of sad to see how underutilized she is in story, character and team. I really wanted to see more of her when she was revealed in trailers only to be disappointed. Her team isn't even the best it can be Glimmora is my favorite pokemon introduced from this region yet it's weirdly used as her ace to be brought out last when it's a pokemon best for being the lead with Toxic debris, and seriously Gogoat and Avalugg?? Just because she's not the last battle doesn't mean she can't be hard. I hope for more for her.
That's right: Y'all better put some RESPECT on my girl Geeta's name! I been knew she was holding back the entire time before she brought out her REAL team.
Imagine this is the team she is told to use by the league and that in the dlc they add a true champion battle like they did for Steven in Emerald where she has a a Cynthia level team. That would be so freaking cool.
Imagine if she just kept her team intact but with a few slight changes: *Glimmora as her lead and knowing Mortal Spin. *Have her Espathra change its ability to Speed Boost, then swap Quick Attack for Stored Power. *Kingambit as her ace with a Tera Type that isn't Dark or Steel. The remaining three (Veluza, Gogoat and Avalugg) can stay, but hopefully with some changes that would at least bring out their strengths. Still, they could never be as dangerous as the other three, and will likely be just fodder for Kingambit's ability.
For those wondering why she has glimmora is her ace and not Kingambit…. I heard through the grapevine (get it! I played violet!) that the elite four and the champ were supposed to be the trainer fights or at least the trainers representing the types used by the titan pokemon. If you wanted ace Kingambit, you’d have to make poppy a rock type trainer.
Yeah most champion level fights the Ace is second to last with the hail Mary pokemon just afterwards. Cynthia is Garchomp while Ghetsis( I'm counting him due to being the final boss)and Iris is Hydreigon. Heck Alder's ace is Volcarona and is only second to last.
@@barrybend7189yeah i think the only champ fight in the series so far where the ace comes out first is Guzma (title defense) and that makes sense since Golisopod’s whole gimmick is first impression.

When i rematched her on the DLC, i felt like it was a true rematch, like it was intended to be the definitive fight. This felt like a true, legitimate champion battle, I even used my team from when I fought her in the story
The fight was underwhelming but I adore the music (this whole ost is the highlight of the game I think) and all the little nods to Spanish music in this theme. Sooooooo good
I love the subtle reference to the Kalos elite four theme starting at around 0:10. It fits, since in the Pokémon world, Kalos is Paldea’s next door neighbor
I absolutely love how this theme incorporated multiple past motifs and themes while still managing to be unique. When I heard Lance/Red's theme kick in, it really hyped me up for the battle. And since I was under-leveled, the fight was actually difficult for me. (Though I understand why others found it to be too easy)
So glad they fixed her with her Rematch team...the Avalugg is still a questionable inclusion and could've benefited better from something like Palafin instead.
I like how a lot of Scarlet and Violet's battle themes sound more like music from Battle Revolution than main line games. They sound more momentous this way imo.

Really enjoyed the take on the E4 and Champion this time around. Felt great to get extra battles in after earning champion rank. The songs slap too!
I headcanon that she went easy on you because she didn't want to disappoint Nemona, and wanted her to be your final challenge.

We can find traces from other Pokémon battle themes: The battle with Lance, The battle with Unova Elite four, the battle with a legendary Pokémon (unova) and a bit of the lake guardians battle theme, reflecting she is “superior” to the other champions (at least in the lore)
Also the Spanishlike music in her theme is amazing
Superior in the Paldea, at the very least, because we don't know how she fares against other region's Champions - especially those from Europe, which are apparently the strongest of the bunch, in lore (like Diantha, Celine or Leon)
But... with her admitting that Nemona managed to defeat her, someone who goes all out all the time, without showing the true potential... yeah, there, uh, might be some hidden info about the truth

This theme is the epitome of pokemon idk how to explain it just encapsulates it all
Imagine this is the team she is told to use by the league and that in the dlc they add a true champion battle like they did for Steven in Emerald where she has a a Cynthia level team. That would be so freaking cool.
indigo disk is supposedly going to have it's own elite four, so....
That’s what I would think, but she’s the head of the Pokémon league in paldea so wouldn’t she be able to change how it works?
Imagine if she just kept her team intact but with a few slight changes:
*Glimmora as her lead and knowing Mortal Spin.
The Indigo Disk says hi.
No reason she couldn't have sent out her "ace" first though. It just needed to be her highest level mon.
Yeah most champion level fights the Ace is second to last with the hail Mary pokemon just afterwards. Cynthia is Garchomp while Ghetsis( I'm counting him due to being the final boss)and Iris is Hydreigon. Heck Alder's ace is Volcarona and is only second to last.
worth it
@@seronimo__7735red theorem
@@barrybend7189yeah i think the only champ fight in the series so far where the ace comes out first is Guzma (title defense) and that makes sense since Golisopod’s whole gimmick is first impression.
She may be easy but her theme is a banger
Geeta, my girl you did it!
Glimmora on the front, Kingambit in the back!
Dragapult is a great pokemon
Bulky chesnaught is a neato idea
Espathra, wish it got speed boost and protect
Avalugg...why tho?
But congratulations Geeta! You're no longer the worst champion!
Cool 😎
Geeta was never the worst but k
Avalugg is SO TOUGH to deal damage to at times! And then it retaliates with hard hits to boot
When i rematched her on the DLC, i felt like it was a true rematch, like it was intended to be the definitive fight. When I fought her in the story, it was when there was that musical bug where it looped the theme for the first 10 seconds over and over again. This felt like a true, legitimate champion battle, I even used my team from when I fought her in the story
You know a Champion's theme is gonna be Hype or Badass when you hear that Champion Red Theme Reference even if the Champion themselves are bad (0:23)
All the references to other themes 👌🏼👌🏽
JUSTICE FOR GEETA, LET'S GOOOOOO ❤❤❤
Yep, now we can FINALLY Rejoice!
So glad they fixed her with her Rematch team...the Avalugg is still a questionable inclusion and could've benefited better from something like Palafin instead.
@@SegaMario With Flip Turn, maybe
Geeta's tean represented the different biomes of Paldea. Avalugg represents Mount Glaseado.
@@wikiuser92 yup, I agree
I'm so glad that they finally bring back REAL "Pokémon vibe" especially the beginning reminds me the GSC/HGSS champion theme.
I like how a lot of Scarlet and Violet's battle themes sound more like music from Battle Revolution than main line games. They sound more momentous this way imo.
The Battle: 😐
The Theme: 😍
her rematch: 😍😍😍😍
1:05 "What's the matter? You're not one to let something so insignificant fluster you."
Ma'am, you hit a Fire/Flying type with a STONE EDGE.
0:25 *SHUT UP, DUDE!*
Battling Geeta made me appreciate all of the previous champions whom I disliked
I love this theme so much and am beyond hurt I didn't even get to hear it in game :(
I love how they added some Latin flare to her theme by adding guitar and trumpets in some parts. Perfection.
She slayed ngl ate boots down house. Not super hard but still had fun.❤️ 1:16 also best part of the song!
Thanks for posting this. I beat Geeta when the music was bugged out and hearing this would have made that champion fight much more epic than the garbled mess I had.
