  • Same goes for tubifex worms and black worms.
    For the skepticals, just go read a few threads about the subject on simply discus forum.

    I have never ever had issues with bloodworms. which doesn't seem weird to me. Frozen bloodworms from hikari, are enriched with other vitamins, making them nutritional. I feel like when this happens more often than not there is bad water quality for a long time plus the frozen food was left out too long where it actually became spoiled, but the owner puts them to freeze without realizing.
    its pretty simple to see if your blood worms are spoiled, they all appear really dark or black in their frozen cubes container. But yet prob still fed to the fish which then causes an outbreak or an issue. Or even better fishkeepers who never change their carbon in months. That easily can cause such a disease through toxins being re-released into the water column.
    Hole in head it more directly attributed to a lack of nutrition or enzymes. This usually occurs from only feeding your fish only one type of food. The lack of nutrition creates a deficiency which then the parasite can attach and cause havoc. Ill have everyone know most parasites or bacteria that can cause harm usually already exist in your water column or aquarium. It only becomes an issue when the water quality is bad, or fish are weak.

    I agree with you. I've been in the hobby for about 50 yrs. And only when I was kid, I found them in streams and collected them for my Bettas, without any ill effects. I don't trust the live ones sold in the stores.

    Your video made me realize... I fed my fish bloodworms and the next thing I knew they had camallanus worms. Now I know why that happened. Thank you for informing us about the risks of bloodworms. It will save quite a few fish lives in my tanks!

      That's incorrect. Camellanus worms do not become visible until 3 months after your fish becomes infected, and even then they would be INSIDE your fish and not visible to you. When they become visible to you your fish has had them for many months.

    hole in the head is NOT caused by blood worms lol, its lack of nutrition, while blood worms can be a little hard for certain fish to digest they are not the cause of hole in the head, no offense but you need to look around a little more and do better research.please let me know where your getting this info from, and ill give you my feed back.its like saying you can't feed any frozen food to any fish, hikari frozen foods are around the best if not the best, if your fish aren't getting proper feed and or quarantined correctly OR not taking care of your water, you could have issues like hole in the head and bacterial issues.

    • @AquazoneQC
      @AquazoneQC  6 років тому +1

      +KG cichlids in my experience it’s caused by 3 things, like you said malnutrition, bacterial and hexamita parasite found in feeder fish and all types of freshwater worms.

      AquaZone Aquarium Services Mtl Izabella still very uncommon for any parasite to be in frozen blood worms especially the ones you pay good money for because they go through a process to prevent that.

      +in KG cichlids you who has cichlids, I don’t want you to do it because I don’t want anything to happen to your fish, but if you feed blood worm freeze or dry, I guarantee you will end up with weird symptômes within a few weeks. In the same week I got three clients with cichlid issues all after the use of blood worms, and it’s a pain in the ass to cure if it’s hexamita. Callamanus a bit easier with levamisole.

      +KG cichlids food for thought, if the greatest of dewormers can’t harm the parasite eggs till they hatch, what kind of stérilisation they using that can ? Anything from freshwater can transmit and infect freshwater fish. Just google it you’ll see lots of things come up

    I've fed mostly live blood worms and flakes to my nano fish. No issues at all they actually got more colorful, active, and healthy when I added the live BW to their daily diet. It seems each case is subjective and their isn't one sigle way for fish to get a disease. Keep water clean and filteted and balanced diet. Best chances to keep them healthy. Like any living thing they can still get ill even if they have good care.

    if people eat candy three times a day instead of real food this will happen to them too. only difference is it'll start in the mouth for humans. it'll stunt child growth if it's the main diet early in life also. lol fish need a variety of food. just started to breed my own tubiflex. my fish will die if i feed them 90% tubliflex(or bloodworms) too. even wild fish eat more than "just" worms.

      That's good for you. I've had bad experiences with them in the past. I stayed away from the hobby for some years and got back into it again a few years ago. Saw a few comments (like yours) and videos claiming that they are safe. I went against my better mind and bought some live blood worms. Now the fish I fed them to (as a test) are dead or dying.

    Switch to frozen mycis shrimp or daphnia, cyclops, red-tailed fairy shrimp (fresh water brine shrimp alternative), seed shrimps, diced clams, diced beef heart. Each food is geared to different sized fish. Also use catappa leaves (Organic Indian Almond Leaves) in your tanks. They have known and proven remarkable curative properties including, anti-Bacterial (disease bacteria), Anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-parasitic.

    Hole is the head is caused by feeding the fish with high protein and low vitamin (A, D, C) food!
    If you feed your discus with bloodworms only they can cause hole in the head, but not because they are blood worms, it's because they are low in the vitamins and the fish don't get comlete nutrition, they require...

      I never had anything in my planted aquarium till I got Puffer's which were healthy when I got them, and they mostly live on frozen blood worms. I vaccum ever three days and see some still left on the gravel and won't vaccum up. I think it is these that caused my fish to get cloudy skin. I do partial water changes frequently. My tests were normal, and now this, and it IS from blood worms.

    I just noticed some sort of fungus in my tank. My Betta first has cloudy skin even over his eyes, now my Pea Puffer's, and the only thing I could think of was blood worms. I have Puffer's that eat blood worms. I am taking those blood worms, thawing them into turmeric, garlic, astaxanthan, spirulina, and kelp. Right now I don't have an alternative. I am growing some snails, but they won't be ready for weeks. I also put some vitamin C powder straight into my tank. Am just started brine shrimp yesterday, so they have those, but they will be pretty tiny. I'm starting another brine shrimp in another container and will try to grow them up a little larger.

    • @AquazoneQC
      @AquazoneQC  4 роки тому

      I personally think your adding to much stuff to your tank and crashing water quality. Do a big wc and go back to basics. Try feed some tiny frozen shrimps to puffer .

    • @WatchwomanOnTheWall-zk9po
      @WatchwomanOnTheWall-zk9po 4 роки тому

      @@AquazoneQC I only put Vitamin C into the water. That was just over an hour ago and the fish look better already. I took the frozen blood worms, because that is all I have right now that I know the puffer's will eat, and I added all that other stuff to the blood worms that I thawed out in a dish. I took that and scooped it back into the little cube tray they came in originally and put that back into the freezer, minus the fresh garlic. Now, when I take out a cube tomorrow, I'll rinse it off before I feed the Puffer's. I figure, some of that good stuff will stick to the worm's and the garlic will kill parasites or bad bacteria. I just started another batch of brine shrimps for them. Some, I'll put in as soon as they hatch, and some I will grow for a while in a separate container, and feed them when they get larger. I actually got the astaxanthan and the spirulina to feed the shrimps, so they are good and healthy when I feed them to the Puffer's.

    Hi, I'm not sure if you're going to see this but I wanted to determine whether or not my betta fish has hole in the head disease. So I just noticed she has pits on her head that aren't too big looking but they vary in size so I immediately thought she had hole in the head because of the pits and her momentary lethargy. At first I think she was just constipated because of how lethargic she was and then I noticed the pits in her head. I bought medicine right away but then I noticed she stopped being lethargic but the pits are still there. She is as energetic as ever but because of the pits, I have no idea whether or not she has hole in the head. If any of you can help me determine whether or not she has hole in the head I would be very thankful.

      First of all, you need to do a heavy water change. Sometimes the pope-eye condition is nothing but a sign of poor water quality especially in cases which only one eye is swollen or there are more than one fish affected.
      Adding salt into the water provides numerous benefits including reducing stress and prevention of some secondary infections during the treatment period.
      Using broad spectrum antibiotics especially those that are effective on eye infections is the best cure for this condition. Neomycin, Kanamycin, and Erythromycin are just some of the best examples. And add 1tsp of Epsom salt per gallon.

Not only does she need to do more research on HITH disease, but she clearly needs to do much more research on caring for her tank mates.
