    Saw her backhand up close at the US Open. She sliced a lot which was very effective, was able to hit the topspin well when needed too. Great backhand.

    The thing that saddens me most about Diane Parry's backhand is that she has a really good topspin, but during play she reverts almost exclusively to slice. Opponents target her backhand identifying it as a weakness, but her inability to punch back with topspin makes her game very lopsided. Wish she could gain that extra tenth of a second to get her self prepared to hit topspin more often.

      @philipcross8121 Місяць тому

      I reckon she lacks confidence in match play hence the constant slicing.
      Dimitrov is pretty much the same - has a great single-handed backhand but reverts to slice too much of the time because he does not trust it enough in the pressure cooker of a match.

    • @lijuechen8806

      Agree, her one handed backhand is not good at all. She can only do it in the practice or when the ball comes slow to her. I saw one of her matches in AU open, she hit with slices 90% of the backhands. The rest 10% of top spin backhand was either short or misses.

      It took me a year to learn my one hander switching from two. It’s difficult to learn especially when you’re teaching yourself! lol Watched a ton of videos from Fed to Stan to Dimitrov learning the footwork, positioning, and upper body torque to generate power.
