Sad that people growing up these days has such a reliance on graphics. The artstyle is timeless. About the gameplay it's more understandable. It kinda archaic, but one can grow accustomed to anything, and Fallout is so worth sticking by. It helps to have the "players handbook". Really recommend the overhaul mods "1in2" for fallout 1 and restoration project for fallout 2! Should play with vanilla setup the first time through though.
Totally agree, I almost feel like the limited hardware developers had to work with back in the day forced them to make their own unique art styles and really make it their own. Good graphics can certainly add to the experience but simply aiming for hyper-realisim takes a lot of artistry out of a game. I definitely want to give a modded run a go as well, always good to go for the vanilla experience first then expand out!
"surprisingly despite the ip changing hands fallout has maintained a very distinct atmosphere and feel" No it hasnt, i dont know how anyone can say this after playing the old games and see how much more darker bleak and art deco they were.
@@arkgaharandan5881 There is absolutely a difference, no argument there, I more mean when you pick up a Fallout game, wether the original or a newer title like FO4, it is distinctly clear you are playing a Fallout game. The media references, the tongue and cheek take on nuclear armageddon, musical and art choices, and even skill and build selections to me all create a very unique and distinctive world that I personally think has carried over quite well from the old to new. I can certainly see the argument that the original Fallout was a bit darker than the newest entries in the series, but they had the "weird wasteland" elements as well to take the edge off, from finding UFO's to talking cows the silly stuff was there from the start.
@@aquawalrus fallout 4 went out of its way to remove anything that didnt look 1950s enough from fallout, so the distinct part you talking about is that it still has vault suits and pipboys, because they sure as hell changed all the other guns and armor designs, only the power armors and some monsters remain the same, hell they changed the ghouls too. Also the silly stuff was not easily accessible its easier to finish a new fallout 100% than reliably run into wild wasteland stuff without taking the perk.
That's a tough question to answer... I want to say Fallout 3, mostly fueled by the nostalgia as it was my first fallout game. New Vegas was great for improving on the formula and adding so much to the gameplay. That said, fallout 1 was a super unique experience, and I actually haven't played fallout 2 but get the feeling it will be up there in terms of quality. I guess the short answer is I can't decide haha, they all bring something unique and memorable to the table for me.
Easily one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
Was an outstanding experience that's for sure, I'm looking forward to Fallout 2!
Very good video man, thanks
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love this game
Definitely need to give it a go with mods in the future. Any good ones you'd recommend?

@@aquawalrus If you want, you can select vanilla options in restoration project and still have the bug fixes and quality of life updates.
That is good to know, I will absolutely remember this when I go to do my playthrough of Fallout 2.
Youve got a good channel going man
Thanks for the support, glad you're liking the videos!
A great review and a solid rundown of the first fallout. I’ve always wanted to play it. Thank you for another great video, man.
I'm glad you liked it!
I've been a fan of the series so long it only seemed right to finally play the first one.

What is your favorite Fallout, mine is Fallout 2 because of it's rich story and great gameplay.
