The original is from the album "A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste". This one is the best version from the live album, "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up". Every song on that live album is actually better than the studio versions which is really rare!
I never got to see Ministry before this year, but have been able to see them TWICE in 2023. Let me tell you, even though these guys have been around for a very long time and lived HARD, they can still put on a performance with energy like this. I'm not sure what they do for their live sound system, but it's always very loud and all encompassing. This song, in particular, had me thrashing around like I was in my 20s last night at Rocklahoma. If you ever get a chance to see them, go, but bring ear plugs.
I saw them on this tour, different city but they brought the cage with them for the whole tour. Band members and people from the crowd were climbing it and jumping off.. Tons of fun The t-shirt said "Fuck Art, Lets Kill"
Loved this tour. It was my second Ministry show and it was crazy. The studio album, "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste" was probably Ministry's best album and this live album, "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up (Live)" is awesome. I saw them a few more times later, but this was definitely peak Ministry
I have a 4” piece of that iron cage I got from Martin, (The drummer in the striped shirt) It wasn’t a Ministry concert if you didn’t leave with bruises!
I have a scar from Lollapalooza ‘92 when AJ whipped everyone into a frenzy and suddenly there was thousands of plastic cups flying through the air and I caught one in the mouth that was filled with mud. Good times.
@@johngillespie3409 Yup. My husband and I have our names as founders in the foyer. 🤘🏽 Martin IS a really cool cat. He usually comes to town after SXSW.
@@CBGB_1977 I got Brad a punk rock shirt from Martin's store about 4 months ago. And the shipping company messed up the address. It finally got shipped last week, but didn't have a tracking number like the last time. I'm pretty mad at the shipper.
Great choice Brad, you've found the core, the heart and soul of industrial metal, one of the best examples of a vast and entire genre. Chris Connelly (From Scotland btw) on vocals, saw this tour, Chris looked the the kind of punk that would stab someone with a filed down screwdriver, or hit them in the head with a padlock tied to a bandana (yes, that was a thing at punk shows,) Chris Connelly is a true punk; he's an author of children's books now, true story. "Don't want to know what is right, I'll kill them all if I like, I don't have time for this lie, you won't listen to reason, it's too late and now I'm ready to fight!"
oh man i got to see MINISTRY live for the first time back in 1994 and was way up front in the mosh pit for this one...... love this entire album so much
❤🎉 Some of these reaction videos on UA-cam cheer me up. I was a fan of this song and band when this was released, it was mind blowing back then and it still sounds good. Great reaction 😂🎉❤
Fuckin dope. Martin Atkins the drummer on the regular set, in the stripey shirt has a museum in Chicago. PPIM post punk and industrial music museum. He has his drum set there. Very cool guy too hang out with. He does all the silk screen tshirts and banners. He was also in Killing Joke and Pigface and drummed for nin. 🤘
Hey John. Yeah, I went to Aragon many times too. I remember Medusa's(Sheffield?), but that wasn't my usual area. I remember it being a mixed crowd of all kinds of people.
Adults create the world children live in. Juvenile delinquency is always rooted in adult delinquency. And in this process, parents play the key role, when children grow up among adults who refuse to recognize anything that is fine and good or worthy of respect.
I don't know where else to make this suggestion, but maybe some other 80's alternative fans will back me up in here... I can't stop looking at Brad's hat and thinking - it's time for some BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE!!!
Mind is a terrible thing to taste is the greatest car album ive heard. Clean out the car take everything out this album gets right back in in about two days. And its ALWAYS max volume with the windows down to share with everybody
Great band seen them 3 or 4 times never fail to impress. But only my second favourite song called So What, first place honours goes to Anti Nowhere League.
Two drummers...dang...First time hearing this song, such crazy energy... I have to say I like there first album best lil Popier 80's "With Sympathy"...Its quit a bit different...but every song is Great!....check it out if you get a chance...Good show Brad!!
I can smell the clove cigarettes and buckets of cheap beer at Mean Mr. Mustard's which frequently played this back in the early 90s. Winklepickers and black leather.
If you're catching a groove with Ministry (I remember 'Jesus Built My Hotrod' threw you and Lex for a bit of a loop) - check out Killing Game by Skinny Puppy. Strong tune from a strong album (Last Rights), very deep and cinematic (think Tool does industrial), and no one's covered it yet.
It’s “I only kill. To know I am alive’ Chicago was the home a of Leopold and Loeb famous 1920s “thrill killers” I don’t know if that has anything to do with the song.
At the end, they couldn't show the guy's face because his face was injured in a way that requires many stitches. Even back then, there was a such thing as community guidelines.

Been awhile since I’ve seen you and I am not sure what is happening. Where’s Lexi? The last thing I heard was you guys were not reviewing songs on UA-cam! I’m confused and need answers!
Ummm. Lyrics are disturbing but that was the goal. The level of programming can no be matched hail Paul Barker, king Al, Martin, Chris, and many others
My cousin took me to the Chicago show on that Tour. One of the few times I didn’t think I would make it out of a show alive
A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste was such a phenomenal album. Man this brings back memories!

I had it on VHS tape.
@Bunke09 I still have it. Useless to have it now as the entire show is on here.
REVCO, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc my 80's/90s life

This was one of a few Ministry songs sang by Chris Connelly. This album and Land of Rape and Honey are timeless.
Chris Connelly made this song great. Al doesn't do it very good now.
Love Unkle Al and the fellas of Ministry. One of my fave bands.
YESSSSS!

That's a Chemlab Tshirt. Another dope industrial band.
Savages. Defiance in real life. Love it. ❤️☠️

I would leave this song on Repeat and drive the neighbors crazy :-)
One of my all time favourite songs.
This song is based on the movie The Violent Years.
"I only kill to know Im alive!" Definitely not self-defense. But all the ither comments filled you in. Please more Ministry!
I've seen Ministry in the early nineties 💥👏👏👏
To understand the song better you need to watch a movie called the violent years is where the song sample comes from. Awesome band back then

I love Ministry. First heard them in 1988.

Don't forget a stint with Public Image Limited. Just curious, ever go to the 950 Club in the Wrightwood neighborhhood?
@@gregoryriddle2618no, I went to Medusas, the Aragon and a punk club in the suburbs I can't remember the name of 🤣

@@gregoryriddle2618yeah, they had house on the first floor, live music on the second, and industrial on the third floor.
Ministry is at the top
Love me some Ministry. Been listening since 91 and they get better every year
Love that you get into all the music I grew up with, grunge, industrial, goth, trip-hop….youre cool man 😎

Oh yeah! How did I miss this? They are so good live. I've seen them a few times.
For the first time hearing it and even miss hearing the lyrics, your interpretation is excellent!
When I was a teen I thought this was SO hardcore, now I think it’s adorable 🥰 now I see young adults making a music video with their parents camcorder
Similar "drop" to Nine Inch Nails "Wish," a song you gotta look up
Same drummers
I have to think Al was watching Clockwork Orange when he had the idea for this song
Love seeing younger people check this out.
chris connelly has one of the two best industrial scream voices of all time. the other one is ogre from skinny puppy.

Fucking legends. Ministry is one of my favorite bands.
Check out palehead. Ian McKay and Ministry
Hey Brad, check out Crackin' Up by the Revolting Cocks. Lot of same guys from Ministry are in that band too.
Brad in my opinion is about how serial killers are born
Who knows what Ministry was thinking

Cool. I think you should do Too Dark Park by Skinny Puppy on Brad After Dark
8:16 - You look like you're ready to start doing a twelve angles kali drill. Much safer when no one else is on the couch.
Hey Brad? Way different after dark. Lol
Feel sorry for the people that went the Guns and Roses route and missed out on Al and Mikey.
Ok this is one of my favorite songs of all time but more importantly....
Lexi single?
No, my brother. Listen to it with the lyrics. It's a war or, at the minimum, a battle...
It is anti war and government, respect them and their smug answers like "So what"
