It looks amazing! Wish I knew of kinstugi when my favorite terracotta from Mexico broke in half :/// I spent a lot of time superglueing it but it only lasted a little longer
I decided to give this a try as a way to take my mind off things. Got a worn old planter, put it in a bag, and dropped it. Wow.. it exploded! Then I figured if I could do that one I could do just about any broken item. I proceeded to zone out for the rest of the night figuring out the puzzle, prepping edges, and taping it together. There is enough to make a cup again so I will try to epoxy it soon. I'd call the experience a total success for de-stressing!
No problem but we know about the queen bee and the hedge so it's become complicated Shall I deploy the rusty cannon? We can still use the Amazon curve on the lounger As the double tornados have already been run this morning from the video I seen at home
glad you found the perfect in the imperfect! I broke a ceramic that I liked and i’m planning to repair it too. who knows, maybe ill like it even more after I patch it up?
Sure, the finished result lacks the anticipated refinement most people would hope to achieve with a home project like this, but for anyone who doesn't have a kintsugi pottery master on hand to make it perfect, this seems like an affordable and quick way to do it. Practice makes perfect, and acceptance brings contentment. Thanks for sharing!
Wabi-sabi is not that at all. Wabi is the loneliness of something and sabi is its sadness. It’s not about perfection in imperfection, it’s recognizing those qualities in something
You know, I don't believe that it always has to strictly adhere to the original technique in any trade, but I do think you should stick to the spirit of it. This looks rushed and sloppy, more time ought to have been taken.

When this first came about the servants of the Lord whose ceramic it was would have to fix it and then a lot of time were punished with death or suicide.
Japanese kintsugi masters are crying now😅😅
Yup
If beauty is in the imperfect, making it imperfectly makes a perfect kintsugi with that logic so she did well
The Gold is brushed over once the repair is done and not mixed with the resin and hardener.

It looks even better than how it looked before ❤ perfections in the imperfect ❤

Is it bad to eat from this plate? Cause there's epoxy? Or after it hardens, it has no consequences on your health? Thank you 😁

Isn't real kintsugi done with lacquer not epoxy and isn't epoxy not food safe?
Epoxy is definitely not food safe but it can be nice for display if you don't mind not using it to eat anymore
Lacquer not glue
Lacquer takes days to dry. Nobody has that time if it's DIY
This technique makes broken very much better and beautiful than old one.

They use lacquer not gold
They use lacquer then add gold powder. So yes, they use gold.
