Nice to see someone remembers The Magic Mushrooms. I never got to see or meet them. However.....The "A" side of this 45 was written by Michael Francis Hughes (mispelled on the 45 as M. Huges I believe. I'll have to look. i have the 45. I have it because I wrote it for my band in 1966. The Happy Medium. We recorded it at Cameo Parkway in Philly with Sonny Casella. He took it and cut it with The Magig Mushrooms.
This is a charming piece of mid sixties psychedelia. It's one of my favourites and much underrated. It has shades of 'See Emily Play' before that track even hit the charts. This is a classic and a firm favourite of mine of a golden era in music.
The Magic Mushrooms were an American psychedelic garage rock band in the 1960's. The Magic Mushrooms were originally composed of five students from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. They named themselves the Magic Mushrooms after Allen Ginsberg suggested that name during an on-campus lecture in the fall of 1965. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Mushrooms

You wrote a beautiful song
Mr Hughes - This is really good. Are there Happy Medium recordings online? I would love to hear more of your music

It's a shame this band didn't get the recognition they deserved. I remembered this song back in the 60's and even today it brings joy to me.
I hope the MMs put their own spin on it, otherwise it's a sad story:
someone hijacks the song while your version is barely out the door?
This is a true jangler
happy carefree pop
Absolutely a delight
Awesome! So many great songs between 1965-1972 that just didn’t make it.
They are making it now in 2022 and 2023, and back in 2019. To me at least.
@@zoetdonaire yeah, sure. You tell me where
@@zoetdonaire Agree...NOT!!!!

Wow, valuable information, thanks for sharing it. Great to see your presence here.
great tune...
Ending's pretty cool.
Please remember taking magic mushrooms can be mind altering so Don't drive or operate heavy machinery afterwards
Was your band's version ever released?
As long as it is not raining mushrooms
Id rather it be raining mushrooms then raining buckets from the Old Dark House...
