Card bought for 50¢ or even a dime is listed on eBay at $1.50, receive an offer for 99¢, counter at $1.40 ... and this potentiality is multiplied by hundreds of listings. This world is a mystery to me. The labor involved! Fascinating. I can't conceive of trying to make a living by scanning, listing, selling and shipping thousands of bargain cards individually, but it's fascinating. And there are lessons to be learned here for those selling more expensive cards.
Getting over the attachment to the cards & the “what if” was the most difficult part of selling cards full time. With that said, it was also the most freeing feeling once I did.

Great discussion guys. Always loving hearing your guys' thought process when it comes to selling cards - especially the lower end cards. I don't take too much time trying to look at comps when buying cards, but I do often use my knowledge of sports cards to help give me a general idea if a card may be worth something or not. It's all about practice and taking notice of what cards sell so when you source again, you are able to be more efficient when you pick through cards. Surprisingly WNBA cards sell pretty well and the only way I was able to find this out was by listing and selling them. Once again, thank you for the awesome discussion. Love it!
I greatly appreciate all the information you both provided. I think in life we guard information like this and like to be gatekeepers, but I appreciate how you are not taking that approach and are looking to expand the community. Really appreciate you both. Thank you.
My two cents as a casual seller, not a flipper. Have supplies on hand even if you are selling a few hundred cards. You never know when that 10+ order day is going to hit. Get those cards boxed up and protected. It's easy to start leaving stacks around and one clumsy move and you dent the corner on 75 cards you spilled. Doubly so if you have kids like I do. They cannot control their impulses and see no value in your items. Self-adhesive labels. Don't be afraid to take a day off to recharge. Buyers rarely are watching the exact shipping time lines. But protect your seller stats. Set an auto decline. Don't waste your time on a price point you know in your gut is insulting because you will get them. Don't get personal with your cards. Have a PC if you want but let the freaking cardboard go. Don't bank on the highest comps you can find. Add in those super low auctions as part of the average. It helps correct your mental 20% markup because you fixated on that one high comp. If you notice you have repeat buyers, give that discount. The second they buy a second card from you they have bought in bulk. Don't think it's all random, some people are actually attached to the overall feel of an inventory and will seek you out. Charge. For. Shipping. It's time, supplies and insurance. If someone truly wants to buy a card for themselves they won't even blink at shipping.
Makes me feel so much better knowing I’m not the only one who finds listing on the eBay App to be faster, the app is how I learned to list. It’s super fast, the website is so much more detailed. I also use a homemade shadow box for photos.
Beau is completely right about taking pictures of the card raw. You will get bombarded with messages about please send pictures out of the top loader. Buyers want to know the quality of the card instead of rolling the dice through a scratched up top loader and sleeve.
taking pictures takes too long. I'm thinking to get those scanners that just insert the cards in the penny sleeve or top loader and it will take the front and back. the drawback is that it might damage the cards.
@@ninersnation3298 yeah but if you do that a potential customer gonna look at the listing and see the scan in a top loader and ask for a picture outside of the top loader to judge condition of the card. So now you've done twice the work.

This might be one of if not the best video to get people like me with a bunch of cards laying around to get motivated to get started with a practical and realistic approach to organizing and selling. Thanks a lot!
A lot of good info gang. One aspect I would like your info on is the timing of your auctions. Do u try to have them end on weekends on east coast prime time hours ex 7 thru 10pm?
This was awesome. You guys are 100% right, the only reason why I don't sell my cards is because of the attachment mindset. Then, after a year goes by and that $300 card euphoria is no more.. Gotta sell em while they are hot and dont look back!!
What is the best way to sell lot sizes of 90-110 cards? Pictures, listing efficiency, (penny savers or no penner savers), how do you package them up, what do you ship them in?
Tip for Beau>>>Right click on print shipping label>>>open in new tab. saves you from having to go back twice. just close the tab and repeat on next order.
This caught my eye because I'm an ebayer and I just recently started diving into the card world I haven't had any issues I've been turning my cards over really fast within a day or two making out all right. I can't wait to watch and see what you have to say
What a great video, it's much appreciated that you and Beau gave your time to do such an informative video. I just recently got back into the hobby after a 30yr break and have been struggling with selling on ebay. With your tips and Card Dealer Pro I think you just changed up on how I was approaching this whole deal with selling. A game changer for sure and I can't thank you enough.
I flip cards all over the place online so videos like these are always helpful. So thank you. I do have a couple questions that I'm sure are common knowledge but ill ask the stupid questions. 1st question is shipping labels if you're not using ebay, whatnot, or other apps that just do the shipping label process for you. What's a simple and cheap way to pay for and print labels with a cellphone and printer from home? 2nd question is what is the secret to finding lots that you are able to flip for profit? In person and online advice is all welcome 🙏
Just got my 8170 set up today, while watching this video ironically. I was able to scan cards of all types, however, TL, CS, GU, and thicker cards required me to scan one at a time. I was able to scan a PSA card with this scanner, however, even with the manual feed option enabled the scan ended up with a "wave" in it. For anyone else who has this scanner, any luck with scanning graded cards? I have the 7160 and have been able to scan up to 2500/hr, however, the 8170 appears to be as advertised being twice as fast as the 7160.
Excellent in detail on the listing, which we don't get from other channels. Thank you for the insight gentlemen. Beau, I believe I have sold you some Cubs cards on eBay. Where do you guys go to get the best deals on supplies like penny sleeves, top loaders, printer ink, envelopes, etc.

I've sold hundreds of cards using eBay's standard shipping and never used cardboard. I put the cards in a semi-rigid or top-loader and have yet to have an issue with this method.
Great episode thank you guys both. I'm surrounded by BOXES and Binders of cards it is overwhelming to say the least lol. But my struggle is trying to answer one question. WHAT AM I ? Here's my story I love opening boxes and I only keep a couple of PC guys. The rest goes into 3 categories- cards to get graded- A few to sell on Ebay- Then the rest go into boxes. My goal is to amass a big selection of graded cards to someday set up at a card show with. I don't want to be a big Ebay seller I am happy selling a few cards a week. I just really get so much enjoyment from opening boxes of all kinds sports/wrestling/marvel/F1 and so on. With that said what am I COLLECTOR/DEALER/FLIPPER/BREAKER or just crazy?
eventually, you will need to unload those cards and get your money back. It doesn't make sense to just spend money to cumulate cards and you end up with a whole garage of cards. I look back at the cards that i bought over the years. I'm like why the hell i buy all those cards, the nostalgia is great, but you need to monetize it and get your money back. DON'T EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO YOUR CARDS!! Treat cards like a dollar bill. the more you sell, the more you have in the bank.
@@ninersnation3298 I do sell cards on Ebay and my plan is to set up at shows and I plan on having my graded cards and some value boxes also with me and I am always willing to sell bulk lots to anyone. The only cards I'm attached too are my Pc cards. I make enough money at my job that I can afford to buy boxes for me its my treat to myself for working hard if that makes sense.
You’re a hobbiest bro, just like many of us. Building up your collection with profits from your hobby activities and planning for the future. All fun stuff. 💪
I just started using eBay a few days ago as far as dealing with sports cards. I like Ebay a lot. I been dealing with Macari and Facebook marketplace the last couple years so its good to find another market to do business with as well. I buy more than i sell and i found some really good deals. Hopefully when i have so many cards to handle like a house full😅 i can start selling on eBay and make thousands 😊. Thanks for the video
I’m working on listings as the video plays & I hear “so I wanna do 1000 listings today”. I turned my head so fast & see Ty making the exact same face as me “😳”. Madness lol
Im trying to get i to this, but i cant find a shipping option that isnt expensive. Selling cheap $1-5 cards with $7+ shipping isnt competitive when a guy an hour away is selling it with $2 shipping. What am i missing?
I work in shipping and receiving at a grocery distribution warehouse all day, every day for the last 18 years. Yet I have the hardest time organizing and selling cards online.. I really enjoyed this topic though and just might make me motivated enough to start selling off some of my cards..
I've inherited baseball, football, basketball, hockey memorabilia collection cards. Who can I sale all of them together to. Cheap. I'm just not interested in them but need the money.
Ty... I'd love to hear from you... what's the best alternative to eBay for selling cards that are not graded. I like COMC but I refuse to send my cards to someone else to hold. I like being able to negotiate prices and allow for offers. Any suggestions?
My dad had collected for 60 years. There is over a million cards in his basement on shelves. There are 50's 60's, 70's 80's 90's 2000's. Mostly baseball, but all sports. I have no idea what the collection is worth. He has some graded, mostly not. There are Micky Mantle, Gehrig, a ton of various rookie cards. My dad passed away in Feb 23. I have no idea what to do with them. Help
process 56 order in an hour, value labor at $20/hr cost 36 cents per order. Even with free cards to sell, how does one earn an actual profit on a $1.50 card with free ship, considering all other expenses. At a more realistic $40/hr for self employed, cost is 72 cents per order.
Very informative. I’m low level but have spent a lot of money since 2018 on sports cards. I have graded PSA and SGC slabs but also many Auto and numbered cards raw. It’s overwhelming. I took a 2019 select lamar jackson orange prizm psa 10 44/49 to sports card store and they offered me 2/3 of value on market. Not sure yet how I want to go about but thanks for conversation post.
That is what dealers will always offer because they have to turn around and sell it. They will never pay full market price on a card. If you want full market price then sell it yourself on ebay.
Ty this was amazing. Im still so confused like you how Beau does his shipping labels 😅. I do the same as you in bulk 1 button one time with print out for post office. I am like Beau I sell dollar cards all day long. Im not finished with the episode but this made my mind explode ha ha. I am hoping beau is going to talk about using the fast scanners and not actually taking a photo of each card witch is nuts. Ok i got more to watch love this stuff thank you.
Hey bro... yea you reading this. No hate toward these two on camera. Ask your dad how the sport card shop panned out. I got lucky because my dad didn't sleeve his 50's 60's cards so i never really played with them, luckily have cards graded high. .... before it was really a thing like psa, beckett was our value mailer with nintendo powe. Get into info sec , a trade, and use cards as a supplement. Never wear a jersey or depend on a kid that's younger than you to make money. Sell high, buy HOF if possible and hobby that's it. The wax packs worked our because the graded jordans, bo Jackson, misprints, griffeys are cool to show my son now. He doesn't get it 100%, but that duplicate card with the 1/25. 1/50 is a sucker buy. A lot of people know vendors are creating false supplies like errors, but others are hook line and sinker. Hope this helped one of you out . 3:25
Hey guys have really enjoyed watching your videos. I have a quick question with so much quantity why don't you guys have your own site. Also would love to see your scan profiles for the 8170 I thought you mentioned something about doing them in another video but haven't been able to find it there is so many to get through. I'm in Australia and deal with NRL Cards completely different hobby over here.
Yea I j ust sell my higher end cards...... I have like 50,000 to 75,000 cards for dollar bins that are leftovers from lots I have purchased over the last several years I would LOVE to get rid of - but there is just no efficient or economically viable solution to get them all listed - especially when I have$ 50 dollar cards that need to be listed ..... I mean why would I list an 88-89 Steve Yzerman when I have a 1971 Reggie Jackson that needs to be listed?...... I mean I'm so behind on eBay it's insanity..... I mean I was just thinking about doing card shows and putting 5-6 5,000 count boxes on a table and selling hem that way - a buck a card or whatever - or just sell them off in" mystery packs" at 20 for $5 bucks - or even make some more expensive packs that are loaded for $25..... I used to do that back in the day and they would sell like "hot cakes" .... Of course back then you got like 50 HOF'ers for $2 bucks, lol ...... I have so many cards that it's getting out of control ... And as far as Goodwill - I just hit the mega load of vintage - however I was a manager at a Goodwill and if you asked them for a pallet of cards they would probably tell you to F off, lol - at least the one I worked at..... I mean you would have to wait until the pricers put that stuff on the floor.... Even if they did have a pallet of cards (and they do on occasion) my local Goodwill wouldn't sell them to me because it's store policy to NOT accept offers on anything - and like I said I was a Goodwill manager.....
Question on sell through rate (talked about in the previous videos with Beau). If I have 290 current listings and 215 sold items over the past 90 days per my eBay dashboard, is the STR calculated as 215/505, or 42.6%? Please let me know if I’m off base. Thx!
This is correct calculation. I like to track days on as well so I flag at 90 days if still listed. If I still want to list I flag it and weight it in my calculations.
The guy running 1 Million Cubs sounds like he’s running his massive store in the exact same way I’m running mine which just closed out its first month with 60ish orders. That’s either really good for me or really bad for him.
Ya'll do a lot of extra work for no reason. Like sending offers for example. Just set it to automatically send an offer for a specified percentage off. Then you dont have to do it hundreds of times a day. Create your listing templates. Then you're only typing maybe 380 characters a listing. I can do 175-200 listings in less than 8 hours.
get the cards that are worth anything into individual cases , and out of books or albums .. Then find someone you trust that knows more about cards then you do to give you some guidance ..
I see large sellers have all items with free shipping but I can tell the price of the item does account for it being a little high price. What is the benefit to $1.98 item with free shipping vs $0.99 item with $0.99 shipping? Does it have to do with eBay fees, business accounting, or something else?
I don't really think there is a benefit to using either or. The amount you end up paying in fees is the same either way. I believe the main difference is in the psychology of the buyer. Some people who see free shipping will see that as a good deal because there is no additional costs to it. But there are other buyers who will actually take into consideration the cost of shipping along with the price of the item when they purchase. Or there will be those that don't really look at the cost to ship and see an item listed as $0.99 + $0.99 shipping as being cheaper because the price of the item is $0.99. It really comes down to the buyer in what they see when browsing items to purchase. Not everyone is meticulous in breaking down the price when buying.
The thing I hate to hear from buyers is "well I am paying cash, so this is what youd get after fees on eBay" Well, youre saving on shipping AND taxes buying cash, so no.
There's a few other places that I know of. I'm waiting for my ebay stuff to end to start moving them over to those sites. The ones I know, but have not used them yet, are buysportscards and sportscardspro. I'm not a fan of ebay either, but probably gets you the most eyeballs.

Can you recommend an affordable or "starter" thermal printer?
Great video, keep it up. Quick question - how are you shipping a $1.50 card and turn a profit after eBay fees, packaging cost and shipping cost?
My question is, who is buying up 1990 base???? And why????
Great video bud. Im on my phone but can’t see the link to his video on how to list with the printer, etc
Enjoyed the conversation fellas
Awesome find !! So how much did the deal end up costing? He had to be giddy looking through the garage like a kid in a candy store
I am with Beau. The eBay spp is pretty simple to list. I also prefer individual label printing. Less risk.
I've inherited baseball, football, basketball, hockey memorabilia collection cards. Who can I sale all of them together to. Cheap. I'm just not interested in them but need the money.
Great show. Would love to talk to you guys to talk about the hobby. I can't get Beau's template from his site to work.
Better to buy retail boxes or hobby boxes? To resell...seems you get more for the money in hobby boxes am I wrong thinking this?
Hobby is definitely better but the big problem is getting your hands on those boxes so that’s why a lot of people stick to retail
I use the flat scanner. But I looking into what Burbank cards use a Fuji scanner.
With a 50 dollar Epson scanner, you can scan 9 regular size cards at a time and make pre set boxes. Cards are arranged similar to a 9 pocket sheet.
Good advice.
My question is he said he ships 200 some days...where does he get his supply from and still make a profit??
"I can't hold and hope." That's my biggest problem 🤣
Ty... I'd love to hear from you... what's the best alternative to eBay for selling cards that are not graded. I like COMC but I refuse to send my cards to someone else to hold. I like being able to negotiate prices and allow for offers. Any suggestions?
Excellent content, and great information for learning how to operate successfully in the sports card market/industry.
I am with Beau I ship individually as well. But I only have to ship out like 5-25 items per shipping day.
How do sell the common cards.
I am a used car dealer as a side business. Whats easier selling one car for a 1000 profit, or 1000 1 dollar cards for a 1000 profit.
Help
Please send an email to us at collections@chasingcardboard.tv
So stoked you guys brought up the Fujitsu Scanner 8160
process 56 order in an hour,
value labor at $20/hr cost 36 cents per order.
Even with free cards to sell,
how does one earn an actual profit on a $1.50 card
with free ship, considering all other expenses.
At a more realistic $40/hr for self employed,
cost is 72 cents per order.
Sending offers to buyers is so easy from the App while you’re sitting on your phone
How do you create a listing template
Great show. How is Card Dealer Pro for populating data for hockey cards? Would Kronozio be a better option to bulk list a massive hockey collection?
Are any of the fujitsu scanners wifi capable?
I had the same exact reaction when I found out that Beau didn’t use the bulk shipping lol 😝
It's a lot of work to maintain an independent website. Ebay is just much easier.
@@BenchClear we sell alot of bulk low end through our site where if we sold it on eBay we are basically giving it away after fees.
I'm a subscriber and wondering if I can list the ebay link to my packing tape listing for you card sellers ? :)
What is a goodwill pallet? Noob looking to get started
Cards that are not worth the time to sell so you donate them to Goodwill to get the writeoff.
I think if Beau learned the bulk shipping process he would save 10-15 minutes per 50 orders.
I have 4 books of classic baseball cards my mom gave me. They was her ex-husbands he passed away and I don’t know what to do with them
get the cards that are worth anything into individual cases , and out of books or albums .. Then find someone you trust that knows more about cards then you do to give you some guidance ..
Drop stripling for Oviedo ???
Thanks for the perspective.
Great vid… Thanks fellas. 🙏🏾
Anyone know where he parks his car?🤔
Why do you need a spreadsheet? Don’t you just scan them in and create a folder?
9:20 I wish I knew this store. I have plenty of these type of slabs I would sell for a great price
Thank you guys for the info
Sick Blue Harper auto. Grail card for me.
Great info for new seller....
Wow, just WOW changed my life with this valuable info gentlemen. Bless you Both!!!
The thing I hate to hear from buyers is "well I am paying cash, so this is what youd get after fees on eBay" Well, youre saving on shipping AND taxes buying cash, so no.
Great episode.
If my price is 10 they offer 1 I counter at 8 they send back 2 I just go to 20.
And your success rate is?....🤔🤣
@@pierreboobookanick5683 Hopefully zero I hate doing business with cheap skates.
Great video guys, learned a ton. Thank you
Goodwill pallet?
What is the address again
He has the worst pictures I have seen on eBay I don’t understand how he sells. Is it because he has a reputation on line?
Awesome stuff Beau and Ty #salute
Who buys a big collection with lots of awesome cards
Great info,, thanks
Glad it was helpful!

Great discussion guys!
What about not using ebay AT ALL? I absolutely despise that platform!
There's a few other places that I know of. I'm waiting for my ebay stuff to end to start moving them over to those sites. The ones I know, but have not used them yet, are buysportscards and sportscardspro. I'm not a fan of ebay either, but probably gets you the most eyeballs.
