The Cradle to Cradle school of thought is characterized by a positive conception of mankind with a positive footprint: as beneficial organisms humans are a part of the environment. Old patterns of thinking are abandoned, while new paths towards intelligent abundance are established. Cradle to Cradle is about innovation, quality and beauty. The Cradle to Cradle design concept spells out three underlying principles, all of which build on the inherent intelligence of natural systems: “Waste equals food”, “use solar income” and “Celebrate diversity”. The Cradle to Cradle design concept defines usage scenarios while selected healthy materials of comprehensive quality circulate in biological and technical cycles. The concept which originated a little more than a decade back is now the need of the hour for people who are into sustainable design in engineering, technology, and creativity.
