This definitely makes me emotional. Though I never played it when I was super little I am playing it now I do call this as part of my childhood. This game has really shaped me and how I create some of my music.
@Emily Schulte-Slifkin Thanks! Im kind of intereted in learning one of the woodwinds in the future cause I used to play some as a kid... I always disliked the way playing a sax feels like because of the reed mechanism, but a flute wouldn't have one... 🤔🤔
@@windturbine6796 Measure 590 is the one with the tuplets at 14:00. Though there are plenty of high notes for the flutes in the build-up before as well.
I was literally about to request that you make a Super Mario Galaxy score. Holy crap, you read my mind, and this is awesome! Thanks for doing this, Galaxy was practically my childhood.
My friend arranged a Symphonic Medley Suite based around this video, and I really have to say that Super Mario Galaxy, being one of the first games I've ever beaten, is one of the best games ever, with some of the greatest pieces of music in any video game. Fantastic arrangement!
Would love to see a _Grand Star Rescue_ adaptation since it's already so epic. 8:38 Also, me and the boys crusading for the holy toilet paper : ) Perhaps this is the beginning of a star wars story?
(This starts at 1:27) I really like the bounce effect that the horns and the bassoons create and the horn feature at 1:38. As a musician I found this very pleasing to hear! Great job on the score writing! I know for a fact that writing a score from hand can be a hassle.
Yeah, Odyssey should have been the 3rd, I really wish they had made it more Galaxy focused, it was so close to being the best game but it wasn't for that reason, also I didn't think the music was good enough
Is a Mario Galaxy orchestra medley even possible without Gusty Garden? It would be something "else" but everybody would cry about the lack of Gusty Garden :D
Excellent rendition of Melty Molten Galaxy! The drums and harp solo were perfect. I also liked the creative harp intro for Buoy Base. But the BEST part was the intro of the Staff Roll. Those chills hit HARD.
Wow, I just checked your homepage for the first time, I wasn't really aware of the awesomeness of the project. I was just listening a bit to the songs here on UA-cam and liked it. You deserve so much more credit for the incredible work. I instantly subscribed.
Melty Molten Galaxy is my favorite here. (Not that the others aren't completely phenomenal, but I've always loved that 'mambo' rhythm, two dotted notes with an undotted note, almost like a triplet but not)
Oh awesome, it's VGOScore doing one of my top 4 favourite OSTs! Just saying, if you were to do a transcription/arrangement of the Super Mario Galaxy 2 credits theme, I would worship you forever - it's a musical masterpiece and my favourite piece of VGM of all time.
Excellent job, I've been waiting for this from you for a long time!! But I always like to give constructive criticism... measure 371 in the first violin part is a whole tone scale run, and it would be better to notate the Eb as a D# for consistency in accidentals. Strings like consistency in accidentals because accidentals can affect the fingering. For example, I'm more likely to sight read D# in first position with the high third finger and Eb with the low 4th finger, which in this passage is a more natural fingering. With the fingering I use for whole tone scales, I actually would have liked D# to be followed by E# (then Fx and Gx, so it's more recognizable as a whole tone scale and I can auto pilot when I sight read lol). Point is... it's easier to read and play whole tone scales whose fingerings look like 1-2-3-4 instead of something that looks like 1-2-4-1. In tonal passages, you don't really have to worry except that everything's spelled according to the rules. It's when there are atonal devices like whole tone scales that you have to consider how to write it for strings. I know this whole thing is about one note, but I know the issue is very rarely talked about and I regularly play pieces by new composers who make this exact "mistake" The other small thing I would recommend is inserting more courtesy accidentals, there are a large handful of measures which don't carry over the previous accidental but they aren't marked. For example, m. 246-247 in the violin 1 part... Gb in 246 is so close to the following G natural in 247, that it will probably be missed in sight reading a few times (and it's all slurred together, which might have someone thinking that it's supposed to be Gb). I ended up writing a lot more than I thought I would, so I'll close with things I really liked about the string parts in general. I really liked that you left out bowings. A lot of new composers put them in but have no idea what works and what's natural, etc. And probably the biggest compliment I can give you is how correct everything is. It's VERY rare to find arrangements of video game music with all the correct rhythms and notes (let alone the full orchestration). So great job! Hopefully my comments make sense and can help you perfect your craft
Ah Super Mario Galaxy, my most favourite game! I love your composition a lot, it sounds so great 😁 You chose a lot of my favourite songs from the soundtrack too!
Very skillfully orchestrated! Thank you, I enjoyed this. The harp/mallet instrumentation in the Melty Molten Galaxy section was unexpected. My only suggestion, speaking as a clarinet player, would be to have the B-flat clarinets change to A clarinets in the sections where it goes into concert D and concert A -- that's a lot of sharps to play in, and with all the side keys and alternate fingerings involved, it's very difficult to play in tune in those keys.
Thank you for this perfection bestowed upon us mere mortals. You would make my YEAR if you could arrange a Mario Galaxy 2 score such as this one! This game has made my childhood, and I would be forever grateful to you if you could make this happen!! Thank you soooo much!!!
