  • What log grapple do you use? What is the best Log Splitter? Why don't you have a Stihl 500i? We answer a few questions we got while at the Fellowship at the Furnace put on by Brad ‪@FirewoodattheFurnace‬ Why did we keep our All Wood Muscle Wood log splitter instead or our Eastonmade 12/22? What just happened to our All Wood? Did it breakdown in this video, oh no!! Rachel and I work together to buck and split some boiler wood with a few of the tools we were asked about at the Fellowship at the Furnace from the Kioti and Massey Ferguson tractors, the Ram Splitter 3 point log grapple, the Makita 7900 chainsaw, and the All Wood log splitter. You can now easily find links to a lot of the items we love and use on Hard Working Man on our Amazon Store front which is located here:
    www.amazon.com/shop/hardworki...
    We also add a few stickers we collected at the Fellowship to our All Wood log table. We have a few more to add in a future video as we had some in a different bag, but in this video we add: ‪@DudeRanchDIY‬ ‪@kenskuts‬ ‪@adirondackwoodsman‬ ‪@wolcottfamilyworks‬ ‪@FirewoodattheFurnace‬

    add a chute on your splitter end, that way you never have to pick the splits out of the wedge, load next round in and let that piece push the splits out and down the chute

    HAY GUYS LOVE THE RUN-THROUGH ON THE EQUIPMENT. I'M GLAD YOU DIDN'T LEAVE CHRIS @ WOLFE RIDGE OUT. I'M SURE EASTON IS A GREAT SPLITTER WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE... BUT BACK IN 2019-2020, WOLFE RIDGE SPLITTERS WAS THE BOMB LIKE THE 500i IS NOW. GREAT TO SEE YOU GUYS AT THE FELLOWSHIP AND ALL THE REST OF THE WOODHOUND COMMUNITY THAT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT... IT'S COOL TO SEE ALL THE UA-cam FLOKS TOGETHER HAVIN' FUN CUTTIN', SPLITTIN', AND STACKIN'. HOW FUNNY THOUGH, IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO RAIN ON ABOUT 3/4ths OF THE FUNCTIONS... I SHOULD HAVE A FUNCTION HERE! IT'S REAL DRY, DRYER THAN NORMAL. WE COULD USE SOME OF THAT RAIN YOU FOLKS ARE GETTIN' UP THERE. I'M LOOKIN' FOOR SOMETHIN' DOESN'T NEED TO BE NEW, JUST NEEDS TO WORK. I LIKE THE 28 PRO CAUSE IT'S A GOOD ALL-AROUND SPLITTER WITH BENEFITS. LOGLIFT, CYCLE VALVE, WELL BUILT AND TOUGH, AND EASY TO MOVE AROUND. I'M NO SPRING CHICKEN, SO SWINGIN' AXES IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. AND WE'RE NOT WORKIN' OR COLLECTIN' S.S., SO DUMPIN THOUSANDS ON A NEW EQUIPMENT IS KINDA OUT OF THE QUESTION. WE WOULD ONLY NEED IT FOR WHAT WE BURN AND FOR THE AIR B&B RENTALS. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WOULD BE A WASTE TO HAVE A SUPER-DUPER HIGH-VOLUME & POWER MACHINE JUST TO PRODUCE 4 OR 5 CORDS A YEAR... IF THAT... WELL, GLAD YOU'RE FEELIN' BETTER. AND GOOD TO SEE YOU BOTH IN THE WOODYARD. STAY COOL, AND KEEP PUSHIN ON! PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO...
    BY ANY CHANCE, HAVE YOU EVER GOOGLED CREEL TO SEE WHAT IT'S LIKE HERE??? IF NOT, FOR THE OLE GRINGO. CHECK IT OUT. WE LIVE RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO A PLACE CALLED WOODEN INN. WE HAVEN'T MADE A PAGE YET, SO YOU WON'T SEE US. BUT YOU'LL GET THE JIST... THANX... 🌲🌳🪓🪵🔥🏞

    Hi Heath & Rachel, Quite a few years ago sago I bought a three Point hitch log grapple from Wallenstein and absolutly love it. Even on the back of the tractor I’m able to put the but end under the skid late lift the whole thing in the air and cut the whole log into rounds. I don’t know about service because number one I’ve never had an issue and number two I bought it through my New Holland dealer but it’s great check out Wallenstein log grapples.

    If you are looking to keep that style of log grapple, take a look at the skid steer grapple that Skidder Kev uses. A conveyor would also solve the short outfeed table on your All Wood splitter.

      Thanks, I do plan on looking at the Martach grapple but not sure how I feel about the free swinging head for the way I use it. I agree, a conveyor would overcome the short outfeed table.

    Great video you two. The one thing I knew I had to do when I purchased my boiler was access to bring wood to it. And storage area if possible. I did it best thing I ever did. When I consumed wood in basement I had to handle so much and getting the closest was through the grass or yard. Had to stock up and stack wood on great days of solid ground. That all wood rocks. And the Sachs Dolmar 😂-- --(Makita)

    Hi, I still have my 12-22 and SuperSplit kinetic. I love both. But I only produce wood to heat my home. As for the chainsaw, I was a Husqvrna dealer in the 1980s. My 50 year old 380 CD runs like the day I bought it. I love them. Just bought a 450, 562, and 592 XP. I didn't need them, I just wanted them. I know it's madness, but it's a fine kind of madness. lol FYI, Dolmar invented the chainsaw. They were excellent. I think Makita bought Dolmar a few years back. But, the best equipment is always that which YOU like.😊 Shalom/gw. (aka Graybear)

    Yeah, it's like picking the right Snowmobile that you like, and fits you! Not that there's any snow. I'll have try and get dead standing trees out of Rod this summer, but I really don't use it very often except for these cold snaps. They are supposed to be widening the road (5' each side), so maybe plenty of wood to dry, this summer, it depends on the economy LOL. I talked to a co worker today about February, he said it's over. Nothing like January again. Joy Joy! haha I don't want to sound like a Nut jam, but having dried-tarped wood is a 'Prepper' device.

    Totally agree with you on the splitter wedge should've had longer wings on to help bust up bigger pieces. Also the sorting table on a splitter that big and fast with the autocycle valve it should have the biggest tray possible. Personally I've been looking at that machine online and been trying to find videos more of that brand because I do like the height because of back problems and being taller...our old slow splitter we had to lift it up height wise because that slight squatting bending bothers my back! That's where the fellowship or get togethers would be awesome where you could try different manufacturers or different units out to see what would work best...Thanks for the videos

    If it doesn't have a fuel water separator on your current filter (and there's room under the filter) you can call Napa or a good parts store and see if you can get one for it, some have sight glasses so you can see if there's water in the fuel some have electronic sensors that tell you to empty it. Either way it'll save you a from a hassle next time. You'd think they would put those on there or a sight gauge with a drain. (not very common but)

    Great video. Those splitter wings on the 4 way should be closer to the pushing ram. Is what I think. The pieces would then be split most of the way thru. Would be easier to get the pieces apart. I have a Timberwolf TW-1 and love it. I do not like how low it sits, and I am getting old and need a log lift. It has been a great splitter. I have heard wonderful things about Eastonmade and met Andrew at the Paul Bunyon show. Seems like great people. I don't like the wit time. I am thinking about getting a Wolfridge because they sell them at a hardware store her in Ohio. Isn't the Makita made by Dolmar? I had a Sachs-Dolmar years ago and it was a great saw. I bought a Dolmar about 8 years ago and it was nothing, but a problem and service was awful. I now use Echo;s , which are Shindaiwa. Great saws. I have owned every major professional saw in the last 40 years. My favorite was a Jonsered910 but Husky and Jonsered have become box store saws and have no service.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  4 місяці тому

      James, yes the Makita is a Sachs, unfortunately Makita has discontinued their gas line of saws but they’re still out there. I know a guy with an older Timberwolf and it’s crazy low. The Eastonmades and Wolfe Ridges aren’t too low I just like the few extra inches of the All Wood. I know Eastonmades wait times are coming down a lot with the new improvements at the shop. Both Andrew and Chris make quality machines. I’d give the edge to Eastonmade though in my opinion but still not going to be disappointed with a WR.
