The fact that they used actual prosthetics/make-up and actual MOVING setpieces shows in the finished product. None of that obvious Green Screen effect of the prequels.
Sofia literally blew me out of the water with her acting. Also damn, the prosthetics and makeup were incredible. I cannot believe it didn’t win an award for that. So talented! This movie, like the rest, was amazing. Can’t wait for the 4th.
Saw the movie yesterday. I'm not only saying this as a Trekkie but also as a movie lover; its 100% worth a watch even if you're not a fan. Literally beyond expectation.

I've been a fan since I saw the first episode in 1966 with Jeffrey Hunter as Capt. Pike, and No. 1 later to become Nurse Chappel. As a fan for 50 years, older than most of you, I feel I have a right to my opinion. The special effects of "Beyond" were amazing, especially of Yorktown ( an inference to Jamestown?). But I was not impressed with the script. Too much, too fast. I also felt there was a lot of "spread" between the actors, meaning that no one actor was given enough time to stand out. JMHO as an old time trekkee/trekkor.
Fucking sad what happened to Anton. All the assholes that walk this Earth and he's the one to get taken out. Glad his last Trek was a good one.

Yeah man. Still waiting for one but the main issue here is that it might not live up to expectations since the games are based on creating your own character and choosing how you want to play them, you won't get that in a movie but I'm still hoping they make one eventually, even if it is just a cgi animated one.
Prophet's Bane what about a movie in the mass effect universe based on a side story, or on in-game lore such as a legendary battle or something? doesn't have to have commander shepherd as the main character.
