Congratulations again Sean on taking up the challenge to giving this Ralliart a new lease on life. What a pleasure of a vehicle to work on. Thank you again. Scruba 🙏🏻
Absolute legend
How freakin cool is the car community 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I can't believe chopper read is doing car detailing now! :P
This is how the internet can connect us all…That one of your viewers was able to reach out and offer you this unicorn of a wheel is just so wholesome….congratulations Sean!!
Scruba's Detailing has done an amazing job. Like he said "keeping Aussie made cars on the road".
Sean it's great to see that this paintwork saga turned out alright in the end. Props to Scrubba's detailing for putting in the effort, care and drtail on this.
Cheers from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I don't have a Commodore or magna, but I have a late 70s celica, I came across a guy who in the late 80s bought a second hand celica and contacted Toyota and purchased an entire interior New old stock! A week later the car was T boned and the entire NOS interior sat in his father's garage for over 30 years forgotten, until I purchased the entire set off him! A true unicorn find! All in original packaging! I couldn't believe it!
Th guy that did ur car up was even wearing a def Leppard shirt, this man’s a legend
So that's where Eric Bana ended up, detailing cars in his chopper makeup :) Car looks great, well done.
What a long hard trail it's been for you mate. So sorry the Magna has given you such grief but so glad to see it's come up a treat. Thank you Scruba for helping turning the Magna into the gem it is now. 🙂👍
I was watching Ross's Reviews today about the Rallyart he drove. Saw your comments and low and behold minutes later, this update popped up.
It looks brilliant.
I also knew someone who would always drive his v6 Capri GT with driving gloves on.
Well done and good work.
This blokes vibe is enough to justify the trip to QLD for a respray 😅 You've done an amazing job Sean! You're an absolute credit to Mitsubishi Australia (and Ford Australia)
Looks amazing. Crazy how that red wheel pops. Much brighter than the one on mine after 23 years, gladly it looks almost new still.
I absolutely love how this car turned out, it looks amazing!
It’s a testament to you Sean for persisting with it and seeing its full potential.
She gleams again the way Mitsubishi Australia intended
Never thought I’d feel emotional about a Magna but seeing the time lapse of the man painstakingly sanding it to save it, was quite beautiful
Shaun that looks phenomenal.
Sean what you have done to save the old Magna is amazing
It truly looks so good and as a Magna owner like scrubba said they are the best driving cars around town or out on the highway
It would be a pleasure to have that in my garage 😍😍👍👍
This is amazing! This series is definitely close to my heart - I owned a TJ Magna Executive in the early 2000's for close to 6 years and always wanted the VRX parts to upgrade my car (especially the silver and black steering wheel). The parts were so expensive or hard to come by, even then, so I'm absolutely blown away that you still found a lot of what you did. That Ralliart steering wheel for the win though! Well done! Thanks also for spreading the Mitsubishi Magna love too! To me, they were just as Aussie as the Falcons and the Commodores of the day and I'm thankful that you've saved a top tier Magna from the scrap heap! Great work!
Kudos to Scott on his amazing work on the Ralliart. Seeing it rubbed back it looks as though while it was being painted that they never replaced the filters, hence the crap. I hope you let Scott promote his work via the Ralliart.
Unobtainium, I have a set of OEM 1/4 glass windows for the VU-VZ utes. Holden still had them & in 2016 I bought THE last set. They are still wrapped & in their boxes. I was offered $900 for them recently & I've knocked it back.
I was back in my home town of Port Macquarie recently with my mate's Holden VE SV6 ute. His hard lid & bonnet were up for prep & paint. I spent a total of 26 hours blocking & sanding it to get the imperfections out. The bonnet I spent 10 hours as it needed PDR to get rid of the hail damage. Came out excellent. When I drove back home, me mate couldn't believe the work gone into it.
Another great video Sean, can't wait for you to show the Ralliart off to everyone.
You have really done an awesome job saving a (three) diamond ♦️ in the rough.. Good to see someone do justice to a RalliArt Magna, not many around any more.. as far as hard parts, I came across a brand new digital HVAC control unit unopened in the box it came in from 1992, for my R32 GTR.. As well as brand new front seats, again in the original boxes from the same place..
What an amazing job, Sean! Glad to see another Australian car saved.
Looks absolutely brilliant. That steering wheel is the icing on the cake 👌
This is awesome. Great job bringing this thing back from death and hats off to Scruba for making that absolutely minging paint look amazing.
Looking fantastic Gary👌🏾👌🏾 nice job mate. Well in Scott too what a great paint job correction.
Car looks incredible! Those Ralliart Momo's were being sold off by Mitsubishi for $100 each when they were clearing out all their old stock. Many of us Magna guys bought them for our Execs. Make sure you put some sort of protection on it, the red wears crazy fast. You'll see heaps of 2nd hand ones where the red is almost gone.
man you really brought it back to life, you needed a before n after at the end so we can really see the change .great job man
20:55 yeah this reminds me of that time when I got a new old stock ba xt steering wheel
Amazing workmanship. A well deserved rare car.
Like the Mal touch at the start while polishing your badges. As a fellow RA Magna owner love you work, I've owned both manual and auto and currently only have the auto but it is still a great car after all this time. Happy to be a Patreon supporter of your work.
And I remember buying the manual off ya 15 years ago! Hope you're well John! 😀
I don't remember them looking that good brand new! Looks incredible
Not so much unicorn parts just nos bits that I can't bring myself to use, I'll just keep the old and worn out stuff until they fail.
Not particularly a Magna fan but I can appreciate a well presented car all the same, looks great, you've done an excellent job 👍🏼
Thats the work of a "proper detailer" man knows what hes doing... ❤ (btw brings back memories of when I used to deal with these brand new!)
Moral of the story is, poor man pays twice. And in motoring box’s case sometimes 3 times.
Someone's gotta keep the economy going.
@@MotoringBoxTVone way of looking at it😂 is
Mate absolutely incredible, very happy for you shes come a very long way but in the end absolutely stunning🤌
Fantastic job Sean! This car is absolutely stunning and looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor!! Loved watching this series!
Great workmanship. Ppl don’t appreciate the skills of a really good detailed. Awesome 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺
Incredible result mate, well done!
Hope it finds its way to Birdwood motor museum one day
N64 tragic , love it!! Goldeneye watch music and zelda ocarina of time chest reveal haha
Even I felt excited for the new steering wheel even though I liked the silver look better. Perfect embodiment of the way cars make you feel.
On the subject of unicorn parts. Holden and Ford are lucky in the fact that RareSpares and TRL industries have seen the market for hard to find parts and have started producing them.
When I saw the box, I was like, it's a steering wheel🎉
Yeah, and Magnas have nothing! An interesting comparison are places like OzeParts too - BA Falcon vs TJ Magna:
www.ozeparts.com.au/ford/falcon-xr6-xr8/200209-200309-ba-xr-series-1/sedan.html
www.ozeparts.com.au/mitsubishi/magna/2000-08-2003-05-tj-ned.html
Loved the rebirth of this car, great work and well presented
Amazing bud, what a job but also what an outcome. You have done so well to bring this aussie classic back to life and saved it. No more shopping centre car parks for this beauty, lol. Excellent job. 👍
Sean mate, we all appreciate your emotions! Having just finished last month putting in the new motor in my 55 yr old Fairmont after 24 years driving the old motor!! For a few days there I could not express my feelings just sitting and listening to that V8 idling in the driveway! Only petrolheads can really appreciate the impact of these things!
Glad you got the ceramic coating! Highly recommended it!
This video was epic! Great job on the style and lighting and music. The Magna is bloody amazing too ❤
Absolutely stunning, a fantastic journey watching what youve done with this Magna
Way to go Seano!!!! It looks freakin Awesome Buddy!!! I’m so Stoked for you that you managed to source a N.O.S Rallyart Steering Wheel!
I remember when I worked at Zupps on the Gold Coast and I got to take one of these home. It was such a great driving car and a real head turner In its day. Also it would absolutely blow the doors off any Falcon or Commodore of the era, lol.
Anyway, I know it’s been a long road to get here with all the shit that you’ve had to go through, but I believe that it just makes it all that much sweeter in the end and truly makes you appreciate it even more. Once the blood pressure drops of course, lol 😂.
Cheers again Sean and Congratulations on a job well done.
Fantastic effort Mr McKellar, I really appreciate you sharing this journey with us.
A bit ambiguous but I put the value at 28,000AU and only appreciating as time goes on.
Sweet job with the Magna! Well done! You're going to have to buy a pair of white cotton gloves to wear while you're driving. 😜
You're making me want to tidy up my old Commodore.
Amazing steering wheel. I had an old Ralliart steering wheel which was in the same condition as your old one. I ended up swapping it for a good condition Silver VRX one.
My rare NOS unicorn was an untouched never installed rear louvre. Had all the original mounting gear and instructions. Looks great on the car
A few more suggestions/cherries on top... If I may
- Go get some full cover Kingpin plate covers from Autobarn. Best looking plate covers there are. They will look fantastic on your car and make the plates look like a part of the car, not some raw plates just banged on there.
- Refit the front grill?
- Windows need a tint, especially the rear one so I hides the faded rear headrests.
- I wonder how lucky you'll be finding a factory ralliart front lip? That'd be nice to have!
- Try and find a showroom sales Brochure for the Ralliart. Doesn't look like the Ralliart is mentioned as part of the regular sales brochure, so they must have had a unique one. One of those would be great to have in thr glove box.
100% agree with tinting the windows, not only for the fact Sean lives in sunny Queensland but installing the darkest legal 20% window tint really finishes glossy black cars nicely IMO
She'll be getting tint for sure. Not sure what you mean about the grille - it's fitted and only clips in one way!
The Magna Ralliart looks great. Also that was in the shop in front of your Magna AU did look nice as well, would have loved to had seen the final results for that car.
The Magna looks amazing great to see you save a clasic.
In years to come that car will be something you really cherish and others will appreciate the time, effort and money in keeping it on the road. It’s a piece of history. A piece of Australia’s motoring history. Now you have a piece of it and we all get to enjoy your passion.
I was only thinking about this Magna the other day while opening some new Mitsubishi brochures I received from a friend in Germany this week.i wondered how the car was going. You have done this Magna proud. You have bought it back to life in the most unimaginable way. If I had been able to for fill my dream of having a Mitsubishi museum this would have been a car I would have loved to have. What a great job you have done. Thank you Shaun.
Gee Shaun, I was about to go to bed, and I see this premieres in 2 minutes! Guess I'll be a bit late for work tomorrow.
After all the highs and lows, what a brilliant outcome. And that steering wheel is the cherry on top. Looks awsome Sean..
What a bloke. Nice work 👍
I found a genuine Mazda 323 sports edition headlights and spoiler in a wreckers yard only 250 sports editions were ever built
What an awesome outcome, your passion project is a credit to you and final product has saved a car that has character and soul and which will now hopefully have more life.
Yep, I can understand how you felt with the unicorn steering wheel. Going to have to drive in gloves!!! 😅
This project has certainly had its challenges, but well done for following it through. Awesome job and something to be proud of.
beautiful restoration form all parties man, love your work and vision !
When you started this project i said why a magna? But honestly Sean Kudos to you my friend you have created a time capsule ,good work
My 'unicorn parts moment' was finding the old Race Brakes Melbourne 330mm brake upgrade kit for the E series falcons. It copies the EL GT uprights and uses the same parts. Pure luck!
I am a bit surprised to hear all the talk of how bad the paint work is. It seems like when you got it back from the painter you initially thought it was just dirt on top of the paint and needed a wash, but now you discovered there is dirt in the paintwork itself. I suppose the budget for the respray was on the lower end and you get what you pay for. It just seems like a big change from the last video when you seemed very pleased with the paint result.
I dunno, to me $7000 is not on the lower end... but maybe in 2024 it is? Overall I was happy with it and the car looked good, but it certainly could be improved on. A detailer is always going to have higher expectations on how good paint should be.
Everyone's a winner! Great detail job and promotion, great steering wheel swap. The Ralliart is looking sweet.
My KJ GTV Verada has the Nardi Torino steering wheel and gear shift in teak wood finish which is another impossible part item to find new, and it's in as new condition 👍 congratulations on your Ralliart rare beauty ❤️
Congratulations Sean, the Magna looks wicked. You car has given me a new found respect for Magnas.
In terms of finding NOS, I managed to find two brand new - 45 year old rear pillar air vent shrouds for my 1977 Toyota Crown, my first car that I’ve restored and installed a 2JZ GE+T into. She looks cream of the crop, and those chrome shrouds gleam haha
I"m Soo happy you have fitted the right wheel. I have three Magna on road and haven't given up completely on getting a ralliart. I have a new old stock 2nd (one poor stitch) I have owned for over 15yrs. I can now continue save it for a car I am yet to own.
Well done, it looks great.Ive owned several Verada's and still got one,I think its great too see a Magna getting this much love and attention.
Fantastic outcome. You must be proud of your dedication and effort you’ve put into it. Has been enjoyable to watch mate. Can’t wait for more
Excellent video and work on this car as always, Sean. That Ralliart is a keeper.
Great to see it...looks fantastic, both as a resto and just as a car...probably more 'good looking' than when it was launched!
I've really enjoyed this series - thanks Sean, and also to all the people who have helped (and sometimes hindered) you along the way - it's all about the journey as they say!
Wow what transformation, love the vids bro keep them coming. My rare find is 2002 Ford Falcon XR6 AU with 129678 kms with Tickford body kit, leather interior and Momo gear knob and steering wheel.
Genuinely an amazing looking car I really wish Mitsubishi stayed around in Australia with these absolute unicorns I love the styling it’s Jdm and yet uniquely Aussie!!!
Looking awesome Sean! Looking like showroom new.
Too right, this car has taken you a lot of blood, sweat and money!
The car looks great. Only a car enthusiast would appreciate the effort and cost to do what you have done with the Magna. Well done for your effort and for sharing the journey with the bad and the good. I am a Ford man but like the detailer had one for a company car and it was a great Aussie built car.
Well done mate. Congratulations 🎉
Wow😮 it looks bloody stunning, you should be very proud. Definitely needs to be seen at All Asian Day Lakeside on the 22 of Sep. In the show N shine event.
Good to see a bit of luck coming your way Sean. The car and the steering wheel look stunning. The bits of red in the wheel pick out the red in the seats and dials. As it looks so good now I would like to think that the right person would pay back what it cost you if you ever decided to sell.
I love it Sean! ❤ Absolutely stunning car!
That looks ace! Well done.
That is a sweet looking Magna awesome to see some appreciation for an awesome Aussie car that’s often forgotten about
Love it mate. Been hanging out for your next episode. Loving the content
It looks amazing. The bodykit, the wheel etc. Great stuff
Beautiful production. Enjoyed that one.
Sure it's not perfect but it's still 1000% better than it ever was, she really shines 🤩😎 well done !
Looks AWESOME 👍
Absolutely amazing well done looks unreal.
I had a couple of TJ Sports back in the day, they were and are hugely underrated.
It's really nice to see the time, money and effort you've put into reviving that car - nor many people bother with them.
Enjoy it! And I'm looking forward to you getting a timing belt on to it - it's been worrying me since you bought it!
The more time which passes the more I am worried too.
The Mitzy looks wicked. Congrats on finishing, you went through a lot of pain to get there. Others might have thrown in the towel!
Looks great and came out a treat. Congratulations on all the hard work - and expense. As you were unboxing the new wheel all I could think was surely not a mobile office pack for the Magna 😅 Love the red momo wheel though, I have a red momo on my AUXR8 and they are just gorgeous. Speaking of gorgeous I have to say that Gary's AU stole the show for me - a beautiful machine.
I remember the joy a long time ago of finding an original horn rubber for the NA6 MX5 I will regret selling 20 years ago for the rest of my driving life.
What an awesome looking car. Hats off to your persistence and attention to detail.
Absolutely fantastic
Man I have to congratulate you on the production quality of your vids, they are becoming next level!!! Keep it up mate!!!!! Loving your content!
Congratulations, mate. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour.👏👏
Bro, looks incredible, good on ya! Keep up your great work!!
Good ol Willawong! Can't find it at 1 wreckers, go to the next 5 lol
Car looks great, Enjoy
