- Company of Heroes originally debuted back in 2006 and set the bar for the Real Time Strategy Genre, and subsequently, has been permanently installed on every PC I have owned ever since. While I have played all the entries in the series, including the recently released third installment, the first Company of Heroes game still stands out as an epic strategy game with incredible depth and gameplay. So for this series veteran, the bar has been set rather high for how Feral Interactive has handled this port to the Nintendo Switch. So does it secure its objective? Or does this iteration sink to the bottom of the channel? Let's take a look.

who would have thought we would get COH on the switch?
It's a game i never expected but am so happy it got ported.
I Sank so many hours into this on my pc , now i can play it at work without having to take a laptop with me.
I played a 3 hours skirmish last night on the Docks. Crazy back and forth fighting over territory. Such a well done port!
This is the best strategy game i have ever played, 20 years ago this is the best game now i buyed it for switch and its an excelent port the best thing no more pc, portable bloody hell! Excelent review!

RA3 is one of my all time favourites. The cheesy FMV, over the top units, and gameplay. That was an amazing game!

@@whatsitlikeau Oh nice, yeah, the first set a standard that is very hard to beat apparently haha. Although, I think CoH3 will slowly become the best in the franchise overtime.
Hopefully we see it on the Switch successor. The Xbox port was done well
how do you get out of a vehicle or a weapon?Which buttons should I press, please?
Do you mean when you garrison a building? There should be an "exit" icon when selecting the garrisoned building. Hope that helps!
Does this require a constant online connection like what company of heroes 3 does on console I hope not

We need still more games like this one for the N Switch!!
I would sell my soul for the trilogy to come to Switch! (Feral certainly have to handle the port since they did such an incredible job with this one)

Easily! I think its a licensing deal as Feral are more Mobile/Switch specialists. I love the series so hopefully they can move it to the other consoles!

No touch screen support, but the control scheme is really well done once you get used to it.
Can this game be played offline? Or its like company of heroes 3 online only?
It can be played completely offline, including both campaign and skirmish. Online multiplayer is coming early next year!
The sound of the gameplay is a bit loud in comparison with your voice. other than that, great review.

I think i speak for all of usw. We need more RTS games on the switch. I thunk i will defently by this game. But never on the pc. I have never played any part of it. Becouce i dont like the builing part. If it could be more like steel division were you call youre units on the battlefield is just enough for me. But i will try it out.
A lot of the campaign is just units, mainly skirmish is base building and even then it's not too complex. Just a barracks, motor pool, and a tank building. A couple of small support structures and then all defensive
Long battles, please tell me you can save at any point and come back later?
Pleased to report you can Soldier! I'm a full time dad so battles sometimes need to be put on hold while I sort out my dad duties. It also autosaves every 5 mins too!

Still waiting for that to be added. It was meant to be earlier in the year but I would rather a delay than a bad experience. Still slated for this year!

Not on Switch I don't think. Unless you have one of those mouse adapters perhaps? The controls are very well tuned for the gamepad though!

No there isn't and I only just realised that it's missing!
Heres my honest Opinion if u got 🧠 and actually understand how the game plays its 9/10 trust me if it had multiplayer it would be 10/10
Yeah its an amazing game. Please to report the multiplayer is coming out soon in a free update, early 2024.

Hahaha not a fan of CoH3? I still think 1 is the best put of the lot but I still liked both the sequels. Wouldn't mind seeing the Aussies represented in a CoH game one day!
@@whatsitlikeau I only played a trial of 3 and having grown up on 1 and 2 it felt fine but not the same. I don’t like how the controls were on console really but I could get past that. What really bothered me was setting troops in the direction you want them to be to engage the enemy.
I was debating between COH 3 and COH 1 on switch so I think I’ll get 1 on switch now.
The controls on the Switch are really well done and to "set facing" you just hold the Y button and tilt the stick in the direction you want them to face. Works really well and the Dpad mini map makes navigation a breeze
locked 30 frames?... 30 frames?! 30 FRAMES!!!! :( goddammit
Runs nice and smooth for my experience. I think they opted to make sure the game ran as smooth as possible.

With the Switch 2 most likely gonna be a thing, i hope they port COH2 to it, and hopefully at 60fps
