Wow, this was a real eye opener for me! I have always thought the farm looked neatly maintained and efficient,: but this tour shows the scale of operations, the investment and technology, but also the attention to detail and monitoring of health and production. If people look at all of this, stop bitching about the price of Milk. A credit to the family and staff.
That's one very, very impressive set up you have. It is so professional! This is what purpose built farming enterprises look like when they're properly planned, invested in and, above all, properly managed. You are to be congratulated, and should feel justifiably proud.
Great how your farm flows. A testament of your parents thinking ahead and adjusting as they expanded. I am sure if they started from scratch might shift a thing or two, but great flow.
That's a really nice industrial complex operation. Impressive that you run it with mostly just the family. I wish more people watched your vids, they would better understand the complexity and costs of running a dairy farm and why the price of milk and milk products cost what they do. Time to start looking for a wife Jan, that farm is going to need some grandkids ;)
My goodness; I am exhausted from all that walking. I had not considered how big your enterprise has become. We need a cold beer after all that exercise. :) Thank you for such a great tour too.
It's very well maintained, the cows, calves and barns are a good example to everyone including other farmers òn how a farm should be run. I tip my hat to these folks. 31:30
Lots of building, lots of equipment, lots lots of cows 🐄 ,and lots of money invested, kudos to Your Family, thanks for the information, keep the good Hardwork💪🏽 🙏🏽👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Outstanding tour , very well explained, amazing family working hard daily , 365 days a year ! Many , many pieces to the puzzle , do you have more pictures of the beginning of the dairy , inside barn milking set up ? Your folks have put together a remarkable set up ! I would bet you kids started helping at a very young age , can you share that info ! This dairy is a remarkable piece of history ! Thank you all for taking us on this journey ! Stay safe , enjoy & have fun . Mom & dad must be very very proud of each of you , you all make this possible !!
LOVED this. Amazing. Informative. Awesome to see all the behind the scenes stuff. Im always amazed to see how much equipment is involved. Great job Jan !! ❤
Awesome video Your family has come along way in a short time I can't believe how clean you guys keep your farm From Ontario Grew up on a beef farm Any thing Canadian You gotta love it With hard work comes so rewarding just keep farming and video Thanks
Wonderful tour. What a farm. What an investment! Leave it to the industrious Dutch. Don't see any farm home...it can't be too far away. Would like to see more of your family, staff. You are very clear in your explanations, Jan. Six foot farm star. Good on you and your fine family.
Your farm is a factory. Dairy products, Beef. Byproducts: Manure=Fertilizer, Methane Gas. Ever considered capturing the gas to generate electricity. I realize scale has a lot to do with economic viability. You and your family have such a well run, well thought out operation. Please keep the videos coming.
Awesome! Would be nice to see an interview style video with your dad or both parents about their emigration history and story. I emigrated to NZ in 1989, dairy farmer until I was 40. Now hotel owner in a ski resort in Japan. Love watching your videos, miss the farming a lot from my NZ time. ( I’m from Friesland) Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the updated tour! It’s very impressive the amount of growth your family farm has had, and it’s mind blowing that a handful of people can keep an operation of that size going! 1000 animal lives depend on a few people, crazy! Awesome!
Thanks for another great video, it has been three years and it was a great refresher. Nice farm layout. I have often wondered how well the cows adapt to changes in their environment (moving from location to another) and how long does it takes to adapt/learn the routine in the new environment.
Geee, if this video taught me onw thing, it is that milk should be double the price it is. I thnk we sure take it for granted, and seeing just how much goes into making it. I have watched your videos with a facinated interest, but this video just gave me the next level respect for what you, and all dairy farmers do for us all. Thank you
A great farm to be proud of for sure. Really good to see your generation take hold and take pride in. Would like to see more that here in the states and especially here in Texas, good job 👍🐄🐄🐄.
A huge investment since 1996. Your folks and family sure know what they're doing. Successful farmers and I like successful people. (Staff too, Brent.) Thank you for helping to feed the world.
Wow, what an operation you have there. Boogles my mind how you manage all that day after day, and that has to be done 365 days a year. Enjoy your videos a lot.
We see bits and pieces of it every video but to do a full walk around all at once brings home how big of a complex it really is. Your parents with the help of you three, Brent and all you hired workers really have created something to be proud of. The fact that it is a family operation and not some big corporate creation speaks to the tenacity of Canadian farmers and their ability to provide a exceptional product for consumers everywhere. I bet 9 out of 10 city folk have no idea what goes into an ice cold glass of milk! Thanks for showing us though.
Thanks so much, Jan and I commend your family for your superb effort and vision. You are great ambassadors for the dairy industry! You are too humble to mention this so I will for you! Yes, dairy farming requires a huge investment in land, equipment, buildings, animals and man power. However, that is only part of the story. Many people don't think about this part of the equation. An incredible amount of knowledge and highly diversified skills are required for (field/soil management, seeding/crop management, harvesting, handling/maintenance of machinery, feed testing/analysis, ration formulation, herd health, breeding selection, record keeping, milking/cleaning processes, financial management, etc, etc.) In addition, consistent responsibility is required to manage all the moving parts of the dairy farm 365 days per year. High quality dairy products would never find their way to the consumer's table without the execution of all these moving parts. Milk is the only food that comes without a protective covering. There are no shortcuts when it comes to managing dairy cows and their precious milk.
Hello Jan...congratulations on your great farm! Clean ! Groomed ! Cleaned up ! A good thing to see. Your dad did a great job investing in buildings, stables, yards and new farmland. You like the FENDT, the CLAAS Lexion and Jaguar, but you can still get them, you're still quite young. Greetings Dieter
Jan, I Really Wish you'd have shown Us Neline's goat shed. I've been curious about where she takes care of them since hearing about the goats. Hopefully you'll give Us a tour of that another time?. Great seeing your Mom❤. Excellent tour, nice refresher for future videos 😁. Thank you. Have a gday. 👍🫶
Your parents, sisters & yourself can take great pride in such a pristine farm! It's much more enjoyable working when surroundings are esthetically pleasing. My brother-in-law & nephew are 2nd & 3rd generation respectively, (Dutch) dairy farmers here in the Fraser Valley of BC. 🐄
Thanks for the walking tour Jan. It was really interesting to see how it was all thought out and how it all ties together. Those heavy boots must have been heavy for all that walking, lol.
Your farm doesn't look as big in the drone shots. What a total difference with your walking tour !!!! Very large and well thought out for storage, cattle corrals etc.
Your contractor did a great job of making the front of the parlor look great. Love the hefty poles as columns holding up the porch roof. Your Mom's flowers really brighten up the space also. Great to see your Mom on the tour. You did a fantastic job of giving the tour. You did do a lot of walking and thanks for yourv effort. Yuor famr is amazingly beautiful and efficient.
Hey Jan, Allan here from Western Ag Systems in Saskatoon. just caught your video of your barn tour. Really enjoyed it. You explained it really well. Wish you all the best on your harvest.
Very impressive setup, Jan. Y’all certainly have grown in the past three years. Everything is well planned out and ready for the future! PS There’s a really good movie about the woman who first brought to light the more humane circular ‘round ‘em up, cowboys!’ sorting pen system, as well as the reasoning behind the narrow squeeze chute. The movie is called, “Temple Grandin”. I highly recommend it, especially if you are at all interested in how a farm such a Jan’s operates. She’s an amazing woman!
Great tour! Your farm is so clean and neat. You and your family worked very hard for what you have, you should be very proud of your farm. Some people don’t know how difficult farming is. I love watching your videos. Keep up the great job 👍👍👍
That was a very interesting tour of an efficient & professional dairy farm. in another vlog you could give an update on the number of employees. I have seen a new face in the milking parlor; but he is probably a replacement for Darma who left. 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜🚜
Jan’ you did a hell of job I say that this VIDEO IS A TREASURE TROVE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION AND YOU HAVE A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS FARM, and I appreciate you going through all this for us who have no clue about farming, well it was real interesting and informative. Thanks a lot Jan’ you are a great individual ❤🫵👍🇺🇸🙏🇨🇦.
lol....not easy walking around in those wellies...Thanks for the tour ! Been watching your channel ever since covid shut everything down. Always was curious about how dairy farms work and I've learned a LOT from your channel ! Thanks for sharing !
It’s amazing how far you parents have grown the farm since starting in 1996. From 42 to 340 milking heads is quite amazing. Your family should be proud of that fact. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for the video. We all should compliment people like your parents for taking on all this debt so we can have something to eat. Its a never ending grind to keep this all profitable. If I had a line of credit like they did, I don't know if I would have wanted to work this hard.

I would say they learn quickly. 2/3 days. They just follow the rest of the herd
