As an Irishman, I have to say I really feel for England. It was their game to win, but South Africa are never beaten until they are beaten. A cruel way to lose after doing so much right. England had their critics coming into this world cup, and I think they silenced a lot of them, particularly with that performance last night. But credit SA, that's why they're champions. Not at their best, and still came out on top.

I've seen read a lot of comments the last 3 or 4 weeks, and what I would say to a lot of these so-called fans to wash their mouths out with soap. Absolutely disgusting people on social media. The media don't England at all, hence why a lot of Scots won't support England. And I'll be honest, I was one of them, but I see the bigger picture. A lot of fans absolutely slating Scotland, and I mean to the point where it's vial comments. The Irish being one of them. I had a soft spot for the irish but by christ their ego was up through the roof and got shot down back to reality.
I know that as a Scotland, we have always struggled at the top level, and have come along way to 5th in the rankings. But that doesn't count for anything as its what you do on the pitch that counts . And your only as good as your last game. . We had a very tough group, I feel like we could have done a lot better. Find Russell is not a captain and should have been left to do what he does best on the pitch to do his on thing. Scotland shat it against S.A and Ireland rather than take the game to them.
As u say England were outstanding last night but wasn't meant to be and Owe Farrel needs calm down and keep a lid on it. Lol

As a Welshman in his 50s, that is the first time since I was a small boy that I have felt so supportive of an Elnglish team that gave everything and more on the field to lose to one of the greatest sides in the world at present. Such a transformation. I've never slammed the table in frustration when things just about didn't come off for my lifelong rugby nemesis England as often as I did tonight. It was almost like watching my own team Wales, I was so on England's side to the very last second. Every single member of that team can be proud, as can all the coaches and backroom staff, for taking a aide (like Wales were) written off before the tournament, to the point of a matter of minutes from a WC Final. After last nights training match for the All Blacks, tonight was amazing to watch and but for a last minute penalty and the incredible comeback and depth of talent in the Boks side, we would be looking at an England v New Zealand final next week. No-one outside of maybe the England team itself could have predicted they would truly play such an amazing match and Diolch yn fawr from a Welshman, for the thrills, spills and bellyaches tonight. PS: Back to hating you again when you play us in the 6 nations of course lol :)

Martin, that is a nice respectful comment, but from an old kiwi bloke I’ve got disagree with you. That was not a game of rugby, it was a game of aerial ping pong, The English invented the game, but have forgotten how to play it. Kicking and giving away possession all the time hoping the other team stuffs up might win the odd game, but you won’t get wins consistently. Also, it seems NH teams like to slow the game down , by constant water breaks, pretending their boots are coming off, or faking injuries etc,. I think perhaps if they upped their fitness level, if that’s the problem, and start using their forwards and their backs the way they are meant to be, and try to use different game plans instead of a one diamentional ping pong would make for much more competitive team. A nice bloke like you telling them how good they are, is not going to help them, unless of course as a Welshman that’s your game plan.

For the first time in a while i can actually say i'm proud to be English! The reason why is because of the Two guys sittig there being interviewed after what must be a gutt wrenching time orthem and the team.
We were superb, tactically brilliant and smart with our all round game. Farrell is a supreme captain and leader and you could see the passion in him. I will eat my words about Borthwick who i wasn't convinced about as the knew head coach, how wrong was i!!
He's very humble, honest and deserves all the credit he gets for what he's done in a short space of time.
For me England were the best team for 62mins and south Africa for the remainder, but because we hadn't got a try they were always there as good teams are and found just enough to win. I'm gutted obviously but well done south Africa.
On another note i will have to brush up on some of the new rules especially in the scrum!?

I wouldn't worry about the scrum rules, could easily argue some bad calls by the ref, but the way I look at it is the saffa front row did a fantastic job of blurring the lines and getting the ref well and truly in their side.. rest is history
(The first and last pen when we had the new front rows on could:ve easily been given the other way for boring in)

It was great game of rugby and England’s performance was outstanding. Owen Farrell, Steve Borthwick, the entire coaching staff and team should be justifiably proud of the way they played.
To have lost in such a way to a magnificently executed penalty in the closing minutes is one thing and to have accepted the result with such dignity and magnanimity is a wonderful testament to their sportsmanship and the game. It’s why those of us who’ve played rugby love it so much. By the way, I’m a proud Scot who was rooting for England.

I agree 💯 % . I was pulling my hair out. Everytime the boks gained some sort of momentum the ref would blow a ridiculous call and kill the momentum. The boks were rattled by the ref not England. They were getting penalized at the breakdown for ridiculous things and so started rushing things. Also the ref kept shouting use it use it before we even have a chance to settle. England were adding 3 players on the back of a ruck ffs! And no call to use it!
We have been playing the ref since the damn Ireland game which we should have won.
No doubt next week we will play the ref again. The world doesn't want to see Springboks win a 4th title. IRB wants their beloved ABs to win since their first choice Ireland is out.

Agree 💯💯 What in the hell is Kollisi doing in the team except being a great ambassador for SA, because he brings fuckall to the game itself!!! Handrê and Faf should start along with the bomb squad. Libbok can come on in the last 10min if necessary, because he is a total liability on defense and kicking. Against NZ we MUST take it to them up front, NZ very vulnerable in that area. So it is a final and upon seeing the last two games we played we should bring on fresh legs in the form of Esterhuizen and Moody. Go for a 7-1 split and take the risk, NZ cannot play their backs if the they are dominated up front!! We saw that almost two months ago.

To the reporter who said something like "I'm sure they (the players) are all disappointed because it just came down to a scrum penalty". No it f'ing didn't. Another HUGE factor is England's typical pattern of getting a 2 or more score lead and with 30 mins or so to go, deciding to be lazy, stop trying to score and just relying on defending that lead. They do it so often, you can kind of count on it! By the time they realised that they needed to score more they had been totally out-subbed by South Africa and it was too late.

A lot of people are complaining about the refereeing, but where were all the other teams when the Springboks said the refs have not been fair for the past few years??? When Rassie complained about the refs and got his bans??? Everyone said he was making excuses??? Until the analytics came out!!! And the proof was there against World Rugby... Watch TASanalytics... Yes refs make mistakes, but they are blatantly taking sides and at pivotal points of games... Being South African I obviously know more about the way it went against the Springboks ie : The final minute ruck against Ireland... The maul collapses vs England... Offsides at line outs and mauls vs Springboks... there are just too many inconsistancies and when they get looked at afterwards the evidence is there... All the teams need to get together and argue an overall case to better the rules and refs as it effects the game fundamentally... If 1 ref can't cope, put 2 on the field but something needs to change because the effort that all teams put in should not be decided by a refs mistakes

I am going to go against most of the commenters. I did not like the game that England brought to the paddock. It was very negative with way to much kicking and the one dimensional approach that feeding off kicks by penalties and drop goals was a way forward to get to a final and that is what potential world champions are supposed to look like. I started the game with the attitude of supporting the English because I wanted to see the Blacks smash them in the final as they would have done but switched to supporting the Bok's as the English did not deserve to take a game like theirs to the final. Would you believe it the Bok's taught the lesson that tries win matches and getting them with Bottle, Power, Teamwork and Shear Guts brings Glory, Honor and Respect. It took them awhile to get their act together as they were beaten trying to out play the English at their own game but real rugby won on the day. The Springboks are worthy opponents of the All Blacks and a SOUTHERN grand final is WELL deserved as New Zealand put down the number one team to book their spot. The two best teams in the world will take to the field and the chips will fall where they will and what you see will be a master class. If we get beaten we know that the victory will be hard won and well deserved.
