As a South African,what a great example of a great,humble coach,living for the game,smile on his face even after losing,showing humility .Respect,Mr.Bortwick.
What? "slow the game down, prevent any rugby being played..." lol this team doesn't play rugby. EVERYONE except the English HATES the English rugby team.

Bok supporter here. How we held on I may never know but credit to England. A tactical masterclass. They did their homework and in many ways were robbed of a victory. Guard of honour at the end was a lovely touch. Unlucky lads but thank you for the tussle.
As an English 70 year old ex second Rower who played back in the day when you fought on the pitch and drank the bar dry together afterwards, thanks for sharing your kind words. Heck of a game spoilt by a man whose interpretation of the rules, particularly in the forwards is confusing. He should not be in charge of a major game again
As an Irishman, I have to say I really feel for England. It was their game to win, but South Africa are never beaten until they are beaten. A cruel way to lose after doing so much right. England had their critics coming into this world cup, and I think they silenced a lot of them, particularly with that performance last night. But credit SA, that's why they're champions. Not at their best, and still came out on top.
As a Scotland supporter, what an outstanding and thrilling match to watch. A lot of fans had England written off due to S.A. and Ireland being so strong, but I did say all a long never write England off anything. What an outstanding effort from England. Take a bow, lads.
I've seen read a lot of comments the last 3 or 4 weeks, and what I would say to a lot of these so-called fans to wash their mouths out with soap. Absolutely disgusting people on social media. The media don't England at all, hence why a lot of Scots won't support England. And I'll be honest, I was one of them, but I see the bigger picture. A lot of fans absolutely slating Scotland, and I mean to the point where it's vial comments. The Irish being one of them. I had a soft spot for the irish but by christ their ego was up through the roof and got shot down back to reality. I know that as a Scotland, we have always struggled at the top level, and have come along way to 5th in the rankings. But that doesn't count for anything as its what you do on the pitch that counts . And your only as good as your last game. . We had a very tough group, I feel like we could have done a lot better. Find Russell is not a captain and should have been left to do what he does best on the pitch to do his on thing. Scotland shat it against S.A and Ireland rather than take the game to them. As u say England were outstanding last night but wasn't meant to be and Owe Farrel needs calm down and keep a lid on it. Lol
Saffa here. Hats off to England. You almost caused me and many of the SA fans endless heart failures. What a game! Be proud about your flawless game. You had this but none of us on this earth are perfect and glitches do make their way through to exploit the slightest gap. Such gentlemen you all are at this stage of the comp. You rattled us im sure.
So unbelievably proud of that performance from England - even I had begun to write us off before the game. But we fully took it to them the entire game, so unfortunate not to have come away with the W. But that just shows the Boks level of resilience and sheer determination. What a game, congratulations South Africa
As a Welshman in his 50s, that is the first time since I was a small boy that I have felt so supportive of an Elnglish team that gave everything and more on the field to lose to one of the greatest sides in the world at present. Such a transformation. I've never slammed the table in frustration when things just about didn't come off for my lifelong rugby nemesis England as often as I did tonight. It was almost like watching my own team Wales, I was so on England's side to the very last second. Every single member of that team can be proud, as can all the coaches and backroom staff, for taking a aide (like Wales were) written off before the tournament, to the point of a matter of minutes from a WC Final. After last nights training match for the All Blacks, tonight was amazing to watch and but for a last minute penalty and the incredible comeback and depth of talent in the Boks side, we would be looking at an England v New Zealand final next week. No-one outside of maybe the England team itself could have predicted they would truly play such an amazing match and Diolch yn fawr from a Welshman, for the thrills, spills and bellyaches tonight. PS: Back to hating you again when you play us in the 6 nations of course lol :)
Appreciate that, bud. Nice to hear your POV amongst a lot of other noise on this thread. Hope to see the Welsh back at it soon too. Cap’n Morgan my new favorite player! England fan
It sounds like you need therapy……all the pubs and coal mines have shut….it rains all the time in aber……wherever you are and alun wyn is not coming back from retirement…..you should emigrate….by the way they are putting the clocks back in a few weeks…bad luck
Martin, that is a nice respectful comment, but from an old kiwi bloke I’ve got disagree with you. That was not a game of rugby, it was a game of aerial ping pong, The English invented the game, but have forgotten how to play it. Kicking and giving away possession all the time hoping the other team stuffs up might win the odd game, but you won’t get wins consistently. Also, it seems NH teams like to slow the game down , by constant water breaks, pretending their boots are coming off, or faking injuries etc,. I think perhaps if they upped their fitness level, if that’s the problem, and start using their forwards and their backs the way they are meant to be, and try to use different game plans instead of a one diamentional ping pong would make for much more competitive team. A nice bloke like you telling them how good they are, is not going to help them, unless of course as a Welshman that’s your game plan.
As an Englishman I’m so proud of where we are at and also heart broken that the generation I grew up with, that are my hero’s are now on the way out. It’s time to prepare for the next World Cup and it pains me not to see Farrell, Ford, Manu, Marler, etc end of an era
Be surprised if Farrell isn't in the next world cup. Sexton was 38 he'd only be 36. Sad to see Courtney, Marler, Manu and a bunch of those older guys tho yea.
I know exact how you feel, I felt the same last week when Ireland lost and to think that was the end for Sexton and Earles was so sad, it adds to the heartbreak. You can be so proud of your team. They played great. Best wishes from a heartbroken Irish fan. 💔🇮🇪🍀
As a South African, a Bok and Southern Hemisphere supporter - I I have to acknowledge, England you took us to the dark places in this game, you can be proud. Respect to Mr. Borthwick and his team.
Well done England. You played the better game. Similar to the French game we only started playing at the end. NZ won't give us the opportunity for a comeback after playing 60 min poorly.
Excellent job England. Your own press we’re suggesting you were no hopers but to quietly get on with it and present this performance that stunned the Boks was incredible 👏
Have always thought Borthwick was boring, generic and somewhat tactically inept in comparison to some other top international coaches. Last night’s tactics were absolutely spot one. Massive respect. Potentially a big turning point for him and his England team.
I was there at the start in Marseille and England executed a plan superbly, haven’t always been happy with the selections, the lack of this and that but.....I am genuinely won over by the last performance and especially this one. We are seeing the signs of change here and England playing like England can. Congratulations throughout and thanks for giving an old former player a great day in Marseille. Be proud and roll on 6 Nations.
Saffa here and I honestly thought that England was the better team this game - They deserved a win, we played poorly. I did not expect us to make a last-minute comeback (SA resilience/heart & a sprinkle of luck as usual). Happy to be through to finals - I don't think we can beat the ABs 😂 ...but our team is full of surprises...maybe another 1 point victory 🤣
OH MY GOODNESS! As a South African supporter i can only say this was the most classy interview of a losing team i have ever seen! No drama, just humble and graceful responses from both coach and captain. I have never liked Faz but i am a converted man! Hats off to Steve and the English team!
As a South African 🇿🇦 Supporter Steve has taken this Team to another level what Eddie broke Down Best English Team after so little time taking Over the English Team they played a Game they were the better team and put South Africa 🇿🇦 under pressure great Game
England had a great match, they were in control. Farrell was outstanding, he did everything right until he decided to mouth off the ref... Also slowing down the game in the last 15min was your biggest mistake, better luck next time. All the way from 🇿🇦
I cant praise England enough. Well done to the land of my ancestors. I am a Boks supporter, but they squeaked a win. England wins on praise, respect and admiration.
How we can still have a World Cup decided by guess work at the scrum is beyond me. Sad state of affairs. Try explaining to the casual fan why England lost that game in the dying minutes
Hi Farrell and Borthwick as a South African, South Africa got battered, beaten and got taught a lesson, never underestimate England again! We got lucky!!! New Zealand will not give an inch away! When England a legend and one of the worlds great players and led but Captain Farrell never put your guard down and the same for their great coach, legend Borthwick, they out thought the think tank and very nearly won. England were fantastic.
Owen Farrel was brilliant for England as a player and captain. Well done to England on an exceptional performance. So proud of South Africa players to hang in there till the end and win it for us.
For the first time in a while i can actually say i'm proud to be English! The reason why is because of the Two guys sittig there being interviewed after what must be a gutt wrenching time orthem and the team. We were superb, tactically brilliant and smart with our all round game. Farrell is a supreme captain and leader and you could see the passion in him. I will eat my words about Borthwick who i wasn't convinced about as the knew head coach, how wrong was i!! He's very humble, honest and deserves all the credit he gets for what he's done in a short space of time. For me England were the best team for 62mins and south Africa for the remainder, but because we hadn't got a try they were always there as good teams are and found just enough to win. I'm gutted obviously but well done south Africa. On another note i will have to brush up on some of the new rules especially in the scrum!?
Agree, when England play with intensity/passion I can really back them and the last two games they've showed up and been really good to get behind.. (I've been pissed off for years) I wouldn't worry about the scrum rules, could easily argue some bad calls by the ref, but the way I look at it is the saffa front row did a fantastic job of blurring the lines and getting the ref well and truly in their side.. rest is history (The first and last pen when we had the new front rows on could:ve easily been given the other way for boring in)
is it possible that Farrell could be present on the physical field yet also be a bit smarter with regards his relationship with match officials? as a welshman I both admire his presence but feel a frustration at his inability to read the game's direction under the stewardship of the on field officials. a bit more intelligence and in game tempo reaction to the officials might help I feel.
England exceeded my expectations. They are the getting back to what they are good at, slowing the game down and playing 10 man rugby. Exciting times........
As a Boks fan you guys played an amazing game overall. If you stick to this coach and this attitude then I can easily see a world cup victory loading in the future.
It was great game of rugby and England’s performance was outstanding. Owen Farrell, Steve Borthwick, the entire coaching staff and team should be justifiably proud of the way they played. To have lost in such a way to a magnificently executed penalty in the closing minutes is one thing and to have accepted the result with such dignity and magnanimity is a wonderful testament to their sportsmanship and the game. It’s why those of us who’ve played rugby love it so much. By the way, I’m a proud Scot who was rooting for England.
Some things you can't control... RSA scrum dominance for example.... Other things you can control. Mouthing off to the ref at a penalty, losing territory because of it and subsequently losing the match by 1 point. That said, well done England and good luck RSA.
Ye you can control it.. but I think as pundits mentioned when your bringing the intensity to push the boks backwards while defending that will sometimes spill over.. so it's kinda if the price to be paid
Pointing out the referee is in the pocket of sa for the 2nd week running might just be way his team mates have run though brick walls for and with him for 10years.
Are you saying Farrel didn't do what he did? I wasn't implying the ref was in SA pocket, I was criticising Farrel... England gave 3 points away unnecesarily and ultimately lost the game by 1 point... The ref was spot on.
I'm a die-hard South African, and I'm a die-hard Bok and Leicester Tigers supporter. So I've always respected Steve Borthwick. Especially when he coached Leicester Tigers to glory two seasons ago.
As a South African, I have to add. Form or lack of it is temporary, but class is forever. I always knew, and stated in on numerous occasions that England is to a good rugby playing nation to be down for to long. I expect England, on the back of this rwc, to have a very good 6nation
This match will be a cautionary tale for years for people in rugby on wasting time. England was the better team on the day and if they could have had the extra 10 minutes they wasted back there is every chance they could have put more points on the board
South Africa was interrupted, disrupted, impeded, impaired and precluded from finding their rhythm and playing their game by some deliberate refereeing tactics..! This is a shame for the game..! It only serves to spoil it. IRB must sort this out a.s.a.p.!
I agree 💯 % . I was pulling my hair out. Everytime the boks gained some sort of momentum the ref would blow a ridiculous call and kill the momentum. The boks were rattled by the ref not England. They were getting penalized at the breakdown for ridiculous things and so started rushing things. Also the ref kept shouting use it use it before we even have a chance to settle. England were adding 3 players on the back of a ruck ffs! And no call to use it! We have been playing the ref since the damn Ireland game which we should have won. No doubt next week we will play the ref again. The world doesn't want to see Springboks win a 4th title. IRB wants their beloved ABs to win since their first choice Ireland is out.
Agree 💯💯 What in the hell is Kollisi doing in the team except being a great ambassador for SA, because he brings fuckall to the game itself!!! Handrê and Faf should start along with the bomb squad. Libbok can come on in the last 10min if necessary, because he is a total liability on defense and kicking. Against NZ we MUST take it to them up front, NZ very vulnerable in that area. So it is a final and upon seeing the last two games we played we should bring on fresh legs in the form of Esterhuizen and Moody. Go for a 7-1 split and take the risk, NZ cannot play their backs if the they are dominated up front!! We saw that almost two months ago.
I would hate to see the comments of South African Fans had they lost . Whingers first class from some. I guess you can see those who have played the game and those arm chair players. Understand they are Laws not Rules. The Anti Ref Comments show ignorance of the laws. He made Owen pay for mouthing off no mention of that I note. 😮
@@michaelroebuck1340The Owen decision is a case where the law was indeed applied and correctly so.! What mention do you expect to note..?! Or do you expect every correct application to be awarded a gold medal.! Do you expect an honorable mention every time you actually stop at a red light..?! The "anti ref comments" show impatience with ignorance of the laws, and the misapplication thereof. People who DO actually know the "Laws" are frustrated by those who do not know them or chose to ignore them, flaunt them or misapply them for personal reasons. If it is applied equally to both teams, then you actually have a game...; otherwise it is simply NOT rugby..! That is ALL we ask for..! Is it perhaps too big an ask..; simple parity?! Perhaps you prefer non-rugby to be your game..!
What on earth does blue smiling mean? Please use our wonderful language properly, instead of this vulgar German compound wording. English is a simple beautious poetic language.
Another England fan here. Thanks you so much England rugby team for the huge commitment given in that game. You were incredible. You performed way way above my expectations. 🌹❤️
Very proud of the England lads. Couldn't be closer. Well played South Africa, and for playing to the buzzer. The performance showed character on both sides
To the reporter who said something like "I'm sure they (the players) are all disappointed because it just came down to a scrum penalty". No it f'ing didn't. Another HUGE factor is England's typical pattern of getting a 2 or more score lead and with 30 mins or so to go, deciding to be lazy, stop trying to score and just relying on defending that lead. They do it so often, you can kind of count on it! By the time they realised that they needed to score more they had been totally out-subbed by South Africa and it was too late.
You cannot just avoid scrums and I'm pretty sure we at least matched them in the scrum until the last 20 minutes. We didn't need to win scrums just not lose penalties in the scrum. It costs too much to give easy territory like that.
@@mikerobinson9836 If you had scored a try 10 mins before, it wouldn't have mattered , If the ball wasn't dropped and knocked-on there would have been no scrum. You simply cannot live on the fact that the game was solely lost because of a scrum penalty. If's and's and but's do no one any good after a game is done. It's sports and we need to accept it. The thing that really worries me is the outcry from English rugby 'todo's' about abolishing the scrum from the game. Reactionary actions while emotions are running high are no good for anything. Just ask anyone in a long-term relationship!!
as a springbok fan im gutted for the english! especially because the were the better team on the day! but this boks side is special there is an air of inevitability when we play, the english should be proud of the performance def outplayed us! pity effort doesnt reflect on the score board
A lot of people are complaining about the refereeing, but where were all the other teams when the Springboks said the refs have not been fair for the past few years??? When Rassie complained about the refs and got his bans??? Everyone said he was making excuses??? Until the analytics came out!!! And the proof was there against World Rugby... Watch TASanalytics... Yes refs make mistakes, but they are blatantly taking sides and at pivotal points of games... Being South African I obviously know more about the way it went against the Springboks ie : The final minute ruck against Ireland... The maul collapses vs England... Offsides at line outs and mauls vs Springboks... there are just too many inconsistancies and when they get looked at afterwards the evidence is there... All the teams need to get together and argue an overall case to better the rules and refs as it effects the game fundamentally... If 1 ref can't cope, put 2 on the field but something needs to change because the effort that all teams put in should not be decided by a refs mistakes
@@MrMarmite5164 This is unfortunately the sad reality of everything in life... Even in this day and age... You do as you told and you fall in line... If you argue/oppose, you lose everything... Money is power, and obviously those who control the money have the power... Don't you just love this free and fair world we live in???????
Someone earlier commented the boks played poorly the last 2 games (and won) but will need a miracle to win next week. Let me tell that person (l am not a bok fan) but a south african . A miracle is exactly what helped them win against France (nothing else) and a miracle is what helped them win against England (nothing else) and only a 3rd miracle can deliver a win against New Zealand. Without these rugby miracles from GOD SOUTH AFRICA AS A COUNTRY WILL COLLAPSE ( IM NOT JOKING) THINGS ARE FALLING APART IN S.A.. IF WE LOSE THE ONLY THING THAT STILL KEEP PEOPLE UNITED ITS OVER FOR US.)
Your comment comes across as "Alarmist"..but I fear you may be right. This is the last world cup we have a hope of winning. Our country has been raped and abused by yellow t shirt people. And the people are worn out and have lost hope. To win this means infinitely more than just the world cup.
Tactical brilliance from England , really unlucky to lose. They showed other teams how to beat the Springboks. Yet England should have won easily. Teams should have a plan B if their scrummaging fails. I have seen other teams outscrummed and adapt. Last final 4 years ago (it was also scrums) and today's semi final again scrums) that cost England the game . Do they NOT HAVE A PLAN B ? AGAINST STRONGER SCRUMS?
This coach should be very proud,I mean hes few months in the job but almost made it to the Final...Eddie Jones and Warren G failed to do wat he did...so kudos to him.
As a Bok supporter I have to say I was thinking we gonna lose this after the first half, people can say the English play better in the wet but everyone plays in winter there is no excuse, the English kicked well and consistently put the pressure on as well as beating us up front early on. Came together in the second half but we need to lift for the final or we will get hammered.
Farrell will learn....."He who laughs last....." Next time, wait until the final whistle to celebrate, not when a kick works or you win a scrum. Your arrogancy during the game sunk your team, your mates and your country.
If we want to keep the spirit of Rugby and reduce the erratic effect of refereeing, perhaps we should value the try a little more? I would say 6 points, transformed 8 points, and/or the penalty at 2 points.
It wasn't the prettiest of games but both teams tried their hearts out and it just went the boks way in the end! As a welshman it's time to stop all this bitterness and nastiness from some of my fellow welshman we should get behind whatever home nation team is left flying the flag in any major tournament!
Thanks Owen for the 3 points……..is he the only player in the tournament to be marched back 10 metres and not kick a penalty in time😂😂😂😂😂 he’s still a miserable tw…..t
You’re quite right….he donta speaka da good nglish……more like a northern whine……he will face his own karma when he tries his luck on the Argentinians…..watch him get red carded or worse try to injure an opponents head……the guy should be banned…..taught English and how to be polite by Captain Siya@@Pieandpeas

Borthwick deserves some recoqnition that he perfected the Boks game from 2019. England played their best game of the tournament. The boks choked and are going to need a miracle to win next week
Hi, I'm French and you know what I mean about Rose's team. But yesterday, I was for yours. Whith the rain, you played with yours arms and you merited the win. But BOK and BOKK said : " NO NO NO!!!" We are the same destiny but no the same level.. After this 2 matches, WR has her final so... Everybody is hzppy. I respect Itowe'during a long time, your number 15 and Farrell were incridible, determined. Your 1rst ligne in first half was very impressionnant.. But BOK and the last scrum said NO!!! BOKK ans Polard said Yes! This game was not beautiful, but the fight was good in English defense.. Heeeee English!!!? , vivement 2024 in France for 6th nation!!! . ,
An amazing performance by England... it was English blitz rugby all the way through. Respect. In the end the Bokke devised little tactics in response to England's relentless ball turn overs which paid off. A win is a win Bokke. All the best to on the way forward.
Good to see all Scottish Welsh and Irish fans supporting England in a close game best I have seen England play since New Zealand last World Cup can’t keep up with southern hemisphere teams 3rd choice southern hemisphere still walking Into home nation sides
i agree, but the scoreboard tells another story, their high holy attitude causes their downfall, look at cricket yesterday, they think they are the royal family of the world, it causes their downfall all the time,
Fake SAn. The Springboks showed determination and resilience, and due to their experience they were able to come back. That's the Nuke squad. I don't expect a Govender to understand rugby and be a real fan of it anyways.
I am going to go against most of the commenters. I did not like the game that England brought to the paddock. It was very negative with way to much kicking and the one dimensional approach that feeding off kicks by penalties and drop goals was a way forward to get to a final and that is what potential world champions are supposed to look like. I started the game with the attitude of supporting the English because I wanted to see the Blacks smash them in the final as they would have done but switched to supporting the Bok's as the English did not deserve to take a game like theirs to the final. Would you believe it the Bok's taught the lesson that tries win matches and getting them with Bottle, Power, Teamwork and Shear Guts brings Glory, Honor and Respect. It took them awhile to get their act together as they were beaten trying to out play the English at their own game but real rugby won on the day. The Springboks are worthy opponents of the All Blacks and a SOUTHERN grand final is WELL deserved as New Zealand put down the number one team to book their spot. The two best teams in the world will take to the field and the chips will fall where they will and what you see will be a master class. If we get beaten we know that the victory will be hard won and well deserved.
@@seantreacymainya reckon that was performing brilliantly wow zero attack just kick it away and hope for a drop ball or a penalty for 3 point classic English rugby 🤮
Yeah you see that is why england has always been such a good team throughout the years and such a huge threat at every world cup, they can handle pressure and they pull up their sleeves and can come with a huge shock when it matters, damn they nearly gave us a beating 🇿🇦
As a South African, I am not sure England came with a winning strategy, their strategy frustrated the Boks and they controlled the game to the point where the Boks became anxious by making silly mistakes. They are saying they felt like the played well enough to win the game, that exactly is the problem, they weren't good enough, once the Boks got the rub of the green, the points came to England dismay, Pride comes before a fall, Farrel and other players were bragging and boasting during the game as the game was won all ready, Be humble boys, We are Champions
I'm surprised if uou watched the game that you couldn't recognise England's game plan England came with a successful kicking cjase and territory game, they dominated the lineouts and picked ariel wingers that won the ball . As you cant identify an obvious gameplan perhaps you can tell is more about Farrell and other England players bragging and boasting as if the game was won. I'm guessing you invented that so you can make out your humble. Yes the Boks were deserved winners on the night, it was a very close game and could easily have gone England's way. So why not enjoy the win, instead of inventing slights to critise England Pathetic
I think people , especially the naysayers, don't realise that SB had to change an Eddie jones team into a different thinking team in only a few months! You could see the progress happening going through the tournament, almost learning a new way of playing on the hoof. I think English rugby has a bright and exciting future seeing the young talent thats coming through plus a team that can adapt to playing conditions as the match progresses which didn't really happen under EJ.
No, Borthwick did not play a major role in this,,, the England defence coach was brilliant..he taught them excellent defence skills and counter attack capabilities, which almost cost the Bokke the game. As a Saffa, I can only thank you guys for a brilliant game. Love and respect from SA
England should have tried for a try a bit more, they constantly kicked and kicked and kicked, hate to say it but when there was 15 mins left on clock, English bench were have a laugh, think they took their eye off the ball, and allot can happen in 15 mins 😮
Going into this game I had a feeling this would go one of 2 ways, a complete blowout of Eng, or an extremely tight encounter with SA scraping it. It all depended on which English team pitched up. I knew they had the experience and game style to make it tight and boy did they…
As a South African,what a great example of a great,humble coach,living for the game,smile on his face even after losing,showing humility .Respect,Mr.Bortwick.
Wankers mate😂
during the game it was not his attitude, after the game he has no choice to be humble as thy lost
What? "slow the game down, prevent any rugby being played..." lol this team doesn't play rugby. EVERYONE except the English HATES the English rugby team.
From his point of view, this is great! No one thought they get this far, let alone barely loose to SA. He gets to go home a hero and keep going
Opposite of Rassie I’d say myself
Even as a South African, I have to acknowledge, England was the better team for 80-90% of the Game.
They were not considered at all, but but a finals-worthy performance against the reigning champs. AMAZING WORK
That never die attitude gives South Africa the edge to do it twice in a row shows that resilience
England just cannot prop, that's only why they failed
Its not the better team that's remembered, it's the winning team. They would not give a feck if the shoe was on the other foot.
They kicked 15 points.

Lol
As a jock, I bet you were jumping for joy?😂
Normally, I do, but I actually wanted England to win last night. I'm not a bitter Scot but always up for the banter 😅
Pretty demoralised but I guess that’s sport. Glad we turned up though. I look up to SA when it comes to sport and comments like this reinforce that.
SA fan : what I expected. Listen closely to Steve, they have a young squad and will be formidable in two and then 4 years time.
So unbelievably proud of that performance from England - even I had begun to write us off before the game. But we fully took it to them the entire game, so unfortunate not to have come away with the W. But that just shows the Boks level of resilience and sheer determination. What a game, congratulations South Africa
Pride is not enough.

Perhaps but with this performance your team has a bright future
You will find new heroes, Martin Dan Earl and Murley, RIP Sir Bobby
Difference is Sexton played less than half the rugby minutes of Farrell because they are centrally contracted.@@wanderer5598
As a South African, a Bok and Southern Hemisphere supporter - I I have to acknowledge, England you took us to the dark places in this game, you can be proud.
Respect to Mr. Borthwick and his team.
Havent seen the Boks so nullified for a while. Englands aerial game was epic
So unlucky...game plan and players nearly pulled it off....great effort England 🏴
Well done England. You played the better game. Similar to the French game we only started playing at the end. NZ won't give us the opportunity for a comeback after playing 60 min poorly.
And we all hope so. Your game is really ugly
As a proud South African 🇿🇦- England played extremely well. It has to be acknowledged! I was genuinely stressed for 70 minutes.
England fought, lost but narrowly, but won back their respect after a couple of difficult years. Well done to all concerned.
Really? The match was so slow it was boring af
SA will beat the All the blacks, maybe the cup will go to another country next time, as for this year, it's coming back to South Africa.
So proud of England. I hope they continue to grow and ignore the negativity ❤
OH MY GOODNESS! As a South African supporter i can only say this was the most classy interview of a losing team i have ever seen! No drama, just humble and graceful responses from both coach and captain. I have never liked Faz but i am a converted man! Hats off to Steve and the English team!
The English players can learn alot from their coach about character and how to carry yourself .
No they cannot. They are all like Steve already, polite and charming
That's a pretty funny thing to say considering the English captain lost the team 3 points by disrespecting the ref
Saw a comment on BBC’s website which summed it up nicely:
“England at their best, couldn’t beat SA at their worst”
As a South African 🇿🇦 Supporter Steve has taken this Team to another level what Eddie broke Down Best English Team after so little time taking Over the English Team they played a Game they were the better team and put South Africa 🇿🇦 under pressure great Game
English Rugby pride and reputation took a major step towards being restored! Well done to Coach Steve! From a Bok supporter
England you out played the boks .were lucky to win this game. From South Africa 🇿🇦
Lucky?
Yes lucky, but that is sport
Not lucky. England subs were outplayed!
Congratulations South Africa, heartbreak for England, I really did think we were going to do it. Onwards and upwards now guys, hold your heads high.
You played brilliant rugby..continue on this path🇿🇦🏆❤️❤️🔥
That coach is thoughtful, real and respectful, hold on to him as long as you can 🏴
Owen Farrel was brilliant for England as a player and captain.
(I've been pissed off for years)
I wouldn't worry about the scrum rules, could easily argue some bad calls by the ref, but the way I look at it is the saffa front row did a fantastic job of blurring the lines and getting the ref well and truly in their side.. rest is history
(The first and last pen when we had the new front rows on could:ve easily been given the other way for boring in)
Please Please can we have subtitles for the England coach and captain greetings from France 🇨🇵
is it possible that Farrell could be present on the physical field yet also be a bit smarter with regards his relationship with match officials? as a welshman I both admire his presence but feel a frustration at his inability to read the game's direction under the stewardship of the on field officials. a bit more intelligence and in game tempo reaction to the officials might help I feel.
Referee is never going to change his mind anyways, says one thing does another
England exceeded my expectations. They are the getting back to what they are good at, slowing the game down and playing 10 man rugby. Exciting times........
4 months in charge.....
As a springbok fan I can only say wow England for such a superb performance.
As a Boks fan you guys played an amazing game overall. If you stick to this coach and this attitude then I can easily see a world cup victory loading in the future.
NZ have high security for their food supply, chefs next week
Watch out for Suzie the waitress!!
Naah... They need an excuse open for if they lose next week😂
😂😂😂 legendary comment
I'm Welsh but genuinely felt gutted when England lost, they were outstanding!
This is what rugby is about. Good interview and loved that he just shut the journalist down for trying to stir drama revolving around the scrum.
As a South African, I have to add. Form or lack of it is temporary, but class is forever. I always knew, and stated in on numerous occasions that England is to a good rugby playing nation to be down for to long. I expect England, on the back of this rwc, to have a very good 6nation
Thanks, Coach, for stating the obvious. 🇮🇪 never acknowledge 🇿🇦 or giving them the respect they derserve.
Brilliant game by England, you had a game plan and truly trashed SA for 70 minutes. Well done.
As a South African I congratulate England. They were powerful and played an outstanding game. They also proved be winners in their own right.
as a south african and supporting ENGLAND rugby wow you guys did play a game no1 did think you guys can play very good game guys
This match will be a cautionary tale for years for people in rugby on wasting time.
England was the better team on the day and if they could have had the extra 10 minutes they wasted back there is every chance they could have put more points on the board
They were resting
Great effort guys. All the best to the Srpringboks for next weekend 👍
Clyde Waffler stop the negativity
England you played better than us.. from South Africa
One of the best ever English performances
i think their best performancence was in the final against the Boks in 2019,
@anthonyhofmeyrGermany How did Germany do at the world cup???

Another England fan here. Thanks you so much England rugby team for the huge commitment given in that game. You were incredible. You performed way way above my expectations. 🌹❤️
Very proud of the England lads. Couldn't be closer. Well played South Africa, and for playing to the buzzer. The performance showed character on both sides
As a bok supporter i gave to say england were brilliant , Borthwick will take this team back to the top
If we didn't get beaten up in the scrum at the end we would have won that game. The scrum cost us.
So what you play to your strengths we were never going to win the scrums against the boks
You cannot just avoid scrums and I'm pretty sure we at least matched them in the scrum until the last 20 minutes. We didn't need to win scrums just not lose penalties in the scrum. It costs too much to give easy territory like that.
I enjoyed the game, but it wasn’t rugby, it was aerial ping pong.
So pleased they won't be in the final to spoil it with stodgy rugby.
Irony that is what SA will do - luckily we have the ABs

as a springbok fan im gutted for the english! especially because the were the better team on the day! but this boks side is special there is an air of inevitability when we play, the english should be proud of the performance def outplayed us! pity effort doesnt reflect on the score board
Gutted for the boys.
No regrets, they did absolutely everything 🌹

As a Bok supporter I have to say I was thinking we gonna lose this after the first half, people can say the English play better in the wet but everyone plays in winter there is no excuse, the English kicked well and consistently put the pressure on as well as beating us up front early on. Came together in the second half but we need to lift for the final or we will get hammered.
Clive woowood came up with a brilliant 5 point plan for England to win………..bokke had a 1 point plan……..go bokke
This coach is one to watch. I believe he’s going take this English side to one of the great sides in the future.
From South Africa....
Respect ...
Farrell will learn....."He who laughs last....." Next time, wait until the final whistle to celebrate, not when a kick works or you win a scrum. Your arrogancy during the game sunk your team, your mates and your country.

Well done, the Boks. There are no Knighthoods or MBEs for the losing team, thank goodness. We'll never hear the end of it. Great game, though.
Why would there be knighthood and MBEs ? And who would even care ?
As an E-scooter rider I was impressed at how both teams played. Farrell got a bit carried away but that's life.
If we want to keep the spirit of Rugby and reduce the erratic effect of refereeing, perhaps we should value the try a little more? I would say 6 points, transformed 8 points, and/or the penalty at 2 points.
England 15 was really good. Good performance. Congrats
I’m South African. England played a better game and the ref had Englands back to. Springboks was playing against the ref and the English
That’s why the ref gave a winning penalty to SA cos he was rooting for SA to win

Hi, I'm French and you know what I mean about Rose's team.
But yesterday, I was for yours.
Whith the rain, you played with yours arms and you merited the win. But BOK and BOKK said : " NO NO NO!!!"
We are the same destiny but no the same level..

On a good day even the underdog can win . That's why rugby can be so pleasurefull to watch. As a Welsh supporter bad luck England.
I'm a South African supporter but I believe England should have won this game. This English coach is a real humble man.
i agree, but the scoreboard tells another story, their high holy attitude causes their downfall, look at cricket yesterday, they think they are the royal family of the world, it causes their downfall all the time,
You're not a South African supporter. You're a fan.
So what ur saying u did not believe in the boks ...woow
Not a real supporter
Lets be honest. England had an easy ride. They were not tested previous to SA. Thats a fact. Ireland had to face SA and NZ before any semi final.
Irish?
What on Earth does that have to do with England performing brilliantly tonight? Give them their due credit. Speaking as a fellow Irish fan.
Lol Samoa lost by 1
@@seantreacymainya reckon that was performing brilliantly wow zero attack just kick it away and hope for a drop ball or a penalty for 3 point classic English rugby 🤮
Yeah you see that is why england has always been such a good team throughout the years and such a huge threat at every world cup, they can handle pressure and they pull up their sleeves and can come with a huge shock when it matters, damn they nearly gave us a beating 🇿🇦
Being able to withstand multiple phases without "infringing" in the dying minute/minutes.
I think you may be unaware that this was only a semi-final
I'm surprised if uou watched the game that you couldn't recognise England's game plan
England came with a successful kicking cjase and territory game, they dominated the lineouts and picked ariel wingers that won the ball .
So why not enjoy the win, instead of inventing slights to critise England
Pathetic
I think people , especially the naysayers, don't realise that SB had to change an Eddie jones team into a different thinking team in only a few months! You could see the progress happening going through the tournament, almost learning a new way of playing on the hoof. I think English rugby has a bright and exciting future seeing the young talent thats coming through plus a team that can adapt to playing conditions as the match progresses which didn't really happen under EJ.
I really like this English coach and he almost beat us Springboks. I only see good things for England going forward.
There is a basis for England to build from here but they must bring in some more dynamic backs that can threaten tries.
England well played gutted for ye
England were shit there a joke 😅
@@patrickmurphy4258Simply wrong
England won, but lost.
Gutted for them.
Borthwick did an amazing job in their turnaround after Eddie Jones.
at least eddie made the final!
No, Borthwick did not play a major role in this,,, the England defence coach was brilliant..he taught them excellent defence skills and counter attack capabilities, which almost cost the Bokke the game. As a Saffa, I can only thank you guys for a brilliant game. Love and respect from SA
england lost, rugby won
England should have tried for a try a bit more, they constantly kicked and kicked and kicked, hate to say it but when there was 15 mins left on clock, English bench were have a laugh, think they took their eye off the ball, and allot can happen in 15 mins 😮
Going into this game I had a feeling this would go one of 2 ways, a complete blowout of Eng, or an extremely tight encounter with SA scraping it. It all depended on which English team pitched up. I knew they had the experience and game style to make it tight and boy did they…
