Millions of Indians cheered when Dipa Karmakar made it to the vault finals in Rio 2016 and finished fourth -- despite modest training facilities in her hometown. She’s now eyeing on an even better finish in Tokyo 2020.

We need to recognize its girls with dreams like these that change their country's and the world's view and treatment of women and people as a whole.
Hopefully,weather she gets a medal or not athletes in her state will now get desperately needed equipment to be able to train to compete with the world.Already Indian girls can see more choice in their lives thanks to her perseverance and dedication.Their parents as well.She has ignited sparks to success that she will never know turned in to full on fires.
This girl carries the weight of her country in her shoulders, trains with bad equipment, in a society where women got trouble for clothing the "wrong way". It id amazing that she got to the Games. If I were a Bill Gates or such a rich person, I would give her and the girls all they need to train properly.
Why Bill Gates. If you really care why dont you start a gofundme for her along with people of her country who believe in her. It amazes me how people love to spend someone elses money while their own in their pockets;

Delighted know the story from your side. You are truly inspiration for athletes. In India, cricket aspirants easily able to get facilities, but sports like GYMNASTICS can't get minimum facilities. Salute to you for your dedication and finally we all Indian praying for you to get medal.

The problem with india is, only sportspersons support their kids to pursue sports.....pthers think it is not worth it. Its a shame, really. Like this, nothing is worth in life. We have to make it worth it . engineering , doctors, lawyer, businesses...that's not the only things that exist in the world.

Her feat was fabulous. In the Olympics, she had reached in last 10 and stood at 4th position in the medals telly. Really a great achievement that too in a game like Gymnastics.where our country is having no ranking even in Asia. Politics in Sports , tried their level best to stop her going abroad for Olympic. Rest is history you made us proud Deepa , God bless you. Though medal wasn't won , never mind but I'm sure that we are on the right track.

Theres so many ways now. World Cup Series and theres afew special IOC spots if I recall correctly. We'll see
Hopefully she could qualify through Asian Gymnastics Championships (continental championships route) next year 😔
@@MultiChantal22 Extremely doubtful. Have to place in the top 2 in the All Around for that and Dipa is no that very good in the All Around. China and Japan will most likely take those two spots with their B teams.
@@aleemay1182 Exactly Dipa isn't so Strong in the AA. Chinese, Japanese and even North Korean girls are stronger than her. We hope a miracle.

I have been following Dipa Karmakar's journey from before the Rio Olympics. The feat that she has already achieved in Gymnastics for India deserves highest recognition. Considering this sport to be one of the riskiest, qualifying the Olympics itself is a great achievement. Going to the finals and reaching 4th place is extraordinary. All Indians should hope and wish for her success in the Tokyo Olympics. We will love you regardless of the outcome. You are a pride of India.
