Most fans talked about Steamboat & Shawn Michaels but not many talk about Barry Windham as one of the Ric's best opponents. Windham vs Flair had some of the best matches in NWA history. Thank you, Barry, and thank you, Ric.
@@TheStuport That's true. Brad doesn't get any credit, compared to his Hall of Fame dad or his brother, The Road Dogg. At least Brad Armstrong is the last WCW Light Heavyweight Champion.
Brad Armstrong was extremely talented, anybody could see his skills, even when he tagged with Horner. I wondered back then why Dusty never gave him that push after setting him up for an angle with Flair at JCP when he got jumped by T4H during "his interview time"?
@@TheStuport Yes,when Flair was traveling the territories he would come to Southeastern-Continental territory for a week sometimes and I hear that if Brad was in the territory he always wanted to work with him at least once.
Michael's is certainly one of if not the greatest big stage performer but he's certainly not one of flairs best opponents Steamboat, Rhodes, Sting, Funk and Windham and for people to say flair has the same match need to watch some of these matches none of flairs and steamboats matches were the same
Many fans like myself say that Barry should have won the title at the Crockett cup 1987. Besides Sting (1990), Barry should have been the other for Flair to drop the title to in 1987 then regain it at Starrcade or a tv taping.
I was friends with a wrestler named Chris Champion. I did photography for the Florida office, so I met a lot of the guys. Chris Champion told me that Barry Windham was one of the easiest guys in the business to have a great match with. One night in particular, Chris' back was out so bad, he almost skipped the match, but he said Barry was hip to the issue, and he took the match to the mat early, and kept it there so Chris wouldn't hurt his back even worse. Everyone loved working with him.
Saw Flair and Windham in 82 or 83, great match and Flair really put him over. Windham had his thigh taped up and the finish was Flair undoing the tape and punching it like he was trying to injure him. Finally Blackjack Mulligan came done and through in the towel to end it.
I actually saw Windham and Flair go a little longer than 60 in Baltimore live. So many near falls, it was exhausting just watching it. Not in a bad way, though. I miss those matches!
It was a classic I remember water match if I was not mistaken I was 17 at the time I came home it was a gray gray freaking match👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.. I keep saying Barry was the most natural wrestler inside the ring
The 'Flair wrestled the same match every night' complaint is stupid. Yes, toward the end of his career he got repetitive with his signature spots, but during his prime he wrestled so many different people it would be impossible to have the same match. You're not having the same match with Bruiser Brody that you are with David Von Erich just like you're not having the same match with Ricky Steamboat as you are Carlos Colon. A match against Tommy Rich wasn't going to be like a match against Jumbo Tsuruta, just like a match against Wendall Cooley wasn't going to be like a match against Butch Reed. Flair was in a different territory every week or so wrestling that territory's stars and making them look good. He made the local fans believe their guy could become champion. He was the last World Champion of the territory days. He could work his style but his strength was being able to work his opponent's style. Not too many wrestlers active today can do what Flair did.
I always loved Barry Windham's work. He is one of the best second generation stars ever. I do realize he was underappreciated by the fans.
Some of the best matches of all time between Windham and Flair. They are right up there with the Flair-Steamboat matches.
I agee, in 87 I seen him and Windham go 60 in Greenville atleast 5 or 6 times.
i agree 👍
@@Wadzillia The Auditorium baby!!! AKA the Brown Box lol.. Was there every Monday night in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s
Totally agree!!!

@@charles1964 Yea I loved Brad Armstrong he had some great matches with Brian Pillman too.
Barry was so good that he was one of the few babyfaces I actually liked as a teenager. Billy Jack and Wahoo were two others.

He never should have been turned heel . Barry was the perfect Southern baby face . Luger was the heel .
I wish Barry was my neighbor. I could sit in the garage and drink beer with him all day listening to old wrestling stories.💪
"I really did not want to see it............I understand you." - Greatest line ever!!!!!!
The one on world wide and the one at battle of the belts 2 were the best!! Action packed!!
Some of the best wrestling ever early 80s Barry , Flair, Dusty, Jake the snake at Robarts arena Sarasota Florida!
Barry was one of my all time favorites
Barry Windham have mercy ❤️❤️💕💕 love his laugh
This guy he don't get enough credit one of the very very best
Barry was a great wrestler for a big man and many fans today have missed seeing big guys wrestle.

Still love heel Windham in the Horsemen!!
HELL YESSSSSS!!!!
They also did 90 minute ones after the 60 minute broadways in the return matches in JCP.
One of the true greats of all time! What an athlete he was!
Him and rotundo. Aka. Irs……. Great tag team 🤼♀️✅
The Worldwide match was fantastic.
#1 Favorite Ric Flair opponent of all time. BW🤘🤘

... Saw a few Windham , Flair matches . In one of them they kept pulling each others trunks down ...
I like to see Barry and Mr.IRS/ Mike Rotunda do an interview together.
London Kentucky loves ya

Exactly. Every great in the history of wrestling had the same spots they did in every match. The argument makes no sense.
Ric FLAIR is the REAL WORLD CHAMPION. Hardest working man in the business
*_Woooooo!!_*
You had to have your shit in one sock and of course be able to keep up the tempo, Ric Flair was definitely the 60 minute man, in and outside the ring.
Barry Windham is one of the two greatest in ring workers ever, the other being Bobby Eaton.
Windham and Flair had incredible chemistry. I wonder which opponent Flair had the most matches against.
That's a great question ??
I would say Dusty.
He said he wrestled Steamboat over 600 times , so it has to be him.
@@dimedraweriv258 oh wow
@@jimh.412 Dusty definitely up there
Some wrestlers couldn’t go an hour broadway, like most of the 80’s WWF roster. And those that could lost that ability after spending a year in WWF.
If you want a deep cut, go to Barry vs. Flair amateur match on UA-cam.
Barry should’ve had a run with the belt in 86-87
Windham was a great tactician in the ring. But I wonder if he felt a little undervalued by the WwF? He never really contended for any belts there.
