I think it was in Flair's first book that Ric implied that Barry was just so naturally talented, that he didn't work as hard as he maybe should have. If he would've applied himself a little more, hit the gym a little more often, there's no reason that guy couldn't have been a multi-time champion for any or all of the big promotions. He just never got himself to that next level.
I been watching all the old TNA PPVs(2005-2007) and I truly think LAX(Homicide, Hernandez and Konnan) is a top 10 tag team run of ALL TIME. And I know Konnan was the Hulk Hogan of Mexico in the early 90's and was front and center in the nWo in 97-98 and was a key component to the Wolfpack 🐺 being the coolest thing in wrestling(way better than Dx)...also the Filthy Animals were great Still I think LAX was your best work...and Vince is a fool for not bringing them in to WWE(Smackdown) in 2007 ish to work with Rey, Chavo, JBL, Super Crazy, Psicosis etcetera
Barry was right about the Rapper storyline, the fans were rooting for the heels; they hated it to. If you pick the top 5 2nd generation performers as far as work in the ring, Barry is 5th after Bret, Curt, Dibiase, and Orton
Nope. That was a sign of how well it worked. The fact that fans sometimes get behind heels - stone cold, hogan vs rock etc, is a good thing… go with it. They care, and it’s getting over. I hate cheesy comedy and so I didn’t Particularly like it, but it was fairly funny at times, and it was memorable. The biggest problem was that the rap faction wasn’t over at all. So you had fans who liked rap but not the rap guys, and fans who liked the country guys. No real fans on the rap side… but still hennig and company got over. Konnan was right to go with it and try it. It worked!
@dazzle1545: As impressive as those others were, I have to go with Dory Funk, Junior and Terry Funk. man, who ever could have predicted Barry Windham out living Bray Wyatt?
Bray Wyatt was obese, so it's not shocking.

I met Barry Windham in Port Arthur, Texas, when I was a kid. I remember being shocked at how big he was.
it says a lot about the state of WCW when a country music vs hip-hop storyline is one of your highlights.
GET BARRY WINDHAM ON THE SHOW! Man, the stories he must have.
Bio's has got to that point in the Monday Night Wars that WCW really started to take a downturn. You can feel his pain watching the show.
It was a great series but through no fault of Wresting Bios it's really floundering thanks to WCW.

He got in the best shape of his career a few years later at Tiurmbuckle. WCW should have pushed him in '99/'00

Yes, as of January 2024

Wrestling Bios just a whole episode about the Mr America angle. Hulk Hogan is a moron for not seeing how good that was.
