What I fail to understand is the fact that South Africans who were classified as 'Coloured and Black' by the Apartheid Government, years ago, are so proud to be called those racist names. Many of them even say, 'I am proud to be called a Coloured'
There is absolutely no scripture in the Bible, where God refers to any nations with brown and black skins, Coloured and Black. All indigenous people who were born in South Africa, are SOUTH AFRICANS! Change your Apartheid mindsets, South Africans!

Well she's no different as much as she is a person of multi color background I still find her on the fence about how we should treat each other that is as Humans first...she still is in the the path to dividing...and conquering as long as we have such a mindset there's no place for you in politics as educated as she is....no Political portfolio for her in my books...we should embrace multiculturalism like her intro spoke of and from the very background she grew up on...not subscribing to an Eff disruptive opportunist party which I believe she maybe a part of...besides she tells me that she is an eff supporter yet this is a party of people that has brought this country to where we are today ...ie when malema as Anc youth league member brought back the devil Zuma to destroy this country now you think that he now will save us..like really...knowing all we know about malema and his intentions...you must be a fooooool to vote for a peop like there party or mk or anc...not everything is Black or white...so stop making this about just these to races.

I am one of those "coloreds" who has changed their thought over the last few years about being called "colored" due to watching and reading content like this. I took it upon myself to re-educate myself about a lot of history in this country and for the last 4 years I have explicitly told other South African's, both friends and family to not refer to me as "colored". I am also trying to help those same people understand why the term "colored" is not correct and is actually not dignifying. Thanks for having Samantha on your show. We need more people like her re-educating us. Oh, and the DA also lost my vote 4 years ago lol.

An excellent interview. I am a West African Pan-Africanist (what a mouthful), and this interview has given me more insight into South African Politics and the potential and need for a revolution. South Africa should be a driving force for a Pan-African future. Revolution is in the air; Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali and Senegal have started theirs. Success can only be achieved through a continent-wide revolution to birth the unity that has been talked about so much for more than a century, but with tiny incremental steps. The road ahead is hard, as the world wants what we have and has always had this desire and need. Samantha Jansen has great intellect, objectivity and passion. She is the epitome of a future Leader. When we talk about the history of South Africa and who got here first we need to understand that our history doesn't start with Non Africans arriving in Africa. Africans moved around because we had the privilege to do so. We all moved around. The Khwe (Khoi) are not indigenous to South Africa. They are indigenous to Africa just like all other Africans. You find Bantu/Nguni/Ngoni/Nama/Khwe and so on in different parts of Africa. If the Khwe (Khoi) relate to the Nguni and also relate to the Basotho, Batswana and other tribes in Southern Africa then we need to stop speaking of the "Khoi" as if they are non bantu non African. The Nguni people were already here. There is no such thing as an African being indigenous to a specific African country. We are indigenous to Africa.

So what is "indigenous"? You say the Khoi/Kwe is NOT indigenous to South-Africa but indigenous to Africa???
Last time I checked, South-Africa is in Africa. And also last time I checked the Khoi were actually 1000's of years longer in the region of southern africa than the Nguni.
Sounds like you want to invalidate that the Khoi were in both South-Africa and Southern-African region thousands of years before the Nguni people came to this specific region almost at the same time as the white people.
Now you want to fabricate facts with fiction by incorporating the Khoi in a coglumeration with the nguni. They had always (for thousands of years) been seperate groups of Africans. Just because of recent history (few hundred years) that the Xhosa and to some extend Zulu languages have been influenced by the Khoi because of inbreeding, does not miraculously make you, or had made you, or has been apart of, one group of people.
The languages of the Nguni share much greater semblance to middle and eastern african languages than the click-languages of the Khoi.
Do a little bit more effort on your research. Otherwise dont try to lay claim to the land of South-Africa by claiming you are equal to the Khoi as a tactic.
      PS: I am a Coloured . . . With majority Khoi Dna.

    NP 23 seats

    ANC 14 seats

Brilliant my sister! I have always wondered at race classifications in SA. Why should the application form for a job ask for your ( ethnicity/ race? Why? We are all South Africans! Every nation in the world has people of different ethnicity and race but why should an application for a job ask
    about race/ ethnicity? ? Why?

Good question, and the answer to that is because both the white and black governments use that trick to sideline and marginalize the coloured communities here. Its a fact and it's there for every one to see,THE EMPLOYMENT EQUITY ACT,BEE and so many of government departments have their black and or white rules that excludes the coloureds from much senior or strategic positions.Unemplyment for the coloureds was planned.

This conversation is really interesting. I am So-called Coloured, born in the Western Cape. I grew up with both parents who taught us that there is no difference with us and any Black child. The Non-white sign applied to all of us. My father made sure I get my ID at the age of 17, since I turned 18 just before the election in 1994. I had no clue about politics but he made sure that my vote must go to the ANC in the Western Cape for us to be liberated and a better future. So I casted my first vote in WC to the ANC.
