  • Let's get a few things clear, I'm not a mechanic, I'm not a welder, I'm not suggesting you do anything I do, this has worked for me, it might not work for you and I can't help if you mess it up.
    I found the intercooler on Facebook market place though it is an aftermarket intercooler for an xr6 turbo or barra turbo engine.
    When I fixed the bottom brackets I made a bit of a mess of it, though it's all solid and functional so I'm happy enough!
    You can see at 3:40mins I had the intercooler mounted on an angle with the right-hand side higher than the left, this was for clearance from the bull bar brackets to fit the piping, I then went in and changed the bottom mounts to make the intercooler level, I think it's important to include mistakes so I left it all in there.
    Please leave any feedback either positive or negative I really appreciate learning where I can build upon it to make my channel better!
    I was going to do a video about how to fit a blow-off valve, I'm not sure I'm still going to do that video, if you really want it maybe one day.
    The next video is about managing the wiring on the ute - dropping on the 20th of Nov!

    Hey guys, feel free to read the description for any additional information I may have left out of the video.
    I am still new to this, and I'm not confident in my skills yet. If you have any feedback either positive or negative please leave it in the comments and I'll do my best to build from it and better my channel!
    Thanks for watching!

      All good, man. I'm a fan! I guess you had no issues with cutting the grill coz you have a bullbar anyway. What else did you adjust to compensate for the larger intercooler? Does it work with existing turbo?

    Nice work mate. My upgraded cooler needs replacing with alloy pipes( will help heaps on warmer days). Its old and fins seen better days haha. I got a ebc, 2.75inch exhaust and gauges to suit. It does well against the common rails but with a tune it will go hard

    Good job. Im looking to go topmount. Have to make a heat shield for the exhaust manifold first. I reckon your intake temp would be further reduced with a shield. EGT's even lower.

      I've thought about it before, ever brought one. I'd love to do some tests between shielded and unshielded and see the difference, maybe a future vid.

    Awesome video.
    Also looking to install a bigger intercooler in my Ford Ranger 2.5 WLT.
    I am commenting on this video to ask how does the EGT temp look with and without the DC fan on the intercooler.
    Do you feel and see anything that show the fan works better.
    Kind regards

    You could install the fan inside behind the intercooler infront radiator, get a pull fan instead.

      there wouldn't be enough space for this fan, but I ended up ditching the fan after like a year, never really used it much.

    I noticed the intercooler outlets were around an inch larger in diameter than the associated piping. Do you reckon its an advantage with flow & cooling?

      Nah it won't help, you're limited by your smallest pipe

    Hi Finndawg. I was told I might have a turbo lag when using 600x400x75. But I do have a boost controller already same as yours. May I ask a huge huge favor, what are the measurements for the core part of this intercooler? Is it indeed 660 x 430 x 75? Coz if yes, I should be confident that 600 x 300 x 75, will have less or no lag right?

    • @Finndawg
      @Finndawg  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Donnie, sorry for the late reply. I don't know the internal core measurements unfortunately but in terms of turbo lag I get very little lag, you can also compensate for boost lag with the way you drive. I'm planning on filming a full modification video and hopefully posting it tomorrow too. Hopefully I can address some of your concerns about lag in that.

    • @Finndawg

      @mr.eervianlesmana9263 sure can, but you could run hot 🔥, upgrading the intercooler just allows for better heat control, specifically with egts.

    Hi Finndawg, may I ask of you removed the stock bumper when the steel bumper was placed? The stock was also metal right?

    • @Finndawg
      @Finndawg  2 роки тому

      Sorry Donnie, the courier already had the bullbar on it, never saw the original. The same goes for the Bravo, it had a bullbar from the previous owner that had been taken off so it was just a bare front. What are you dealing with? trying to adapt an intercooler to the stock bumper?

    • @derkwei
      @derkwei 2 роки тому

      @@Finndawg yes, I am. I have the Ford Everest 2004 and it is the same as the ranger and courier and it is only the Aussies in youtube that's been brave ang good enough to make mods and share. I reckon I need to remove the stock metal bumper to even just fit a 550 x 230 core IC. I can see yours no ponger have stock bumper so it must have been remove when installing the steel bumper. I am also planning to have steel bumoer so I hope the intercooler up to 600x300mm will not be an issue. Did you encounter boost lags on your 660x400?
