    Lyrics
    I'm diggin' my way
I'm diggin' my way to somethin'
I'm diggin' my way to somethin' better
    I'm pushin' to stay
I'm pushin' to stay with somethin'
I'm pushin' to stay with somethin' better
    I'm sowing the seeds
I'm sowing the seeds I take
I'm sowing the seeds I take for granted
    This thorn in my side
This thorn in my side is from the tree
This thorn in my side is from the tree I've planted
It tears me and I bleed
    And I bleed
    Caught under wheels roll
    I take the leash
    I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's bleeding me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    Caught under wheels roll
    Oh, the bleeding of me
    Of me
    The bleeding of me
    Caught under wheels roll
    I take the leash
    I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's bleeding me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    Caught under wheels roll
    Oh, the bleeding of me
    Oh, the bleeding of me
I am the beast that bleeds the feast
    I am the blood
    I am release
    Come make me pure
    Bleed me a cure
    I'm caught, I'm caught, I'm caught under
    Caught under wheels roll
    I take that lease
    I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's bleeding me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    I can't take it
    I can't take it
    Oh, the bleeding of me
    I'm diggin' my way
I'm diggin' my way to somethin'
I'm diggin' my way to somethin' better
    I'm pushin' to stay
I'm pushin' to stay with somethin'
I'm pushin' to stay with somethin' better
    With somethin' better

Anybody doubting the greatness of hetfield needs to watch this and listen to the lyrics. He's fucking phenomenal. From a pissed of kid to this to the man he's become. It's just been an epic ride that he's chosen to share with the world. I used to listen to this song and think " eh it's ok" but damn this is some deep shit he's singing about. Two heroes in my life: my dad and hetfield. Dad taught me how to be a man. Hetfield sang about how I've felt most of my life. Went from banging my head listening to Metallica to taking a long look at myself and not feeling alone in life. How many bands can affect someone that way?

THERE IS A REASON FOR IT TOO, THE EARLY PRODUCERS OF BANDS LIKE SABBATH AND PURPLE AND OTHER BANDS LIKE THEM GREW UP WITH THEIR PARENTS LISTENING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC AND EVENTUALLY THE ONES WHO BECAME PRODUCERS AROUND THE TIME OF SABBATH ECT... ENDED UP LISTENING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC AND SOME HELPED PRODUCE CLASSICAL STUFF WHEN THEY WERE LEARNING HOW TO BE PRODUCERS SO WHEN IT CAME TIME TO PRODUCE RECORDS FOR SABBATH AND SIMILAR BANDS THEY PRODUCED THE ALBUMS THE SAME WAY THEY DID THE CLASSICAL MUSIC BUT INSTEAD OF VIOLINS AND OTHER ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTS IT WAS GUITARS, BASS AND DRUMS OR A BAND LIKE PURPLE YOU WOULD HAVE SOME ORGAN IN THERE TOO, THATS WHY WHEN METAL BANDS LIKE METALLICA, MEGADETH AND THE SCORPIONS DO SHOWS WITH ORCHESTRAS THEY SOUND SO GOOD, METALLICA STARTED IT BUT SINCE ALOT OF BANDS HAVE DONE IT

Load is absolutley spectacular music. The only reason it gets hated is because Metallica had established a very metal / thrash fanbase, so when they changed their style many people outraged. It's just not their style of music, so Load gets unrightfully hated.

This is one of the best lyrical songs of metallica. The repetitiveness of "I'm digging my way..." "I'm pushing to stay..." indicates a habit or routine of how he is living his life. More so searching for something better rather than striving for it. The next two verses indicate a sense of reflection and enlightenment. He realises that in his life what he is searching for cannot be found because he continues to make the same mistakes. We all know the saying "we reap what we sow". It's almost as if he is saying I had no idea the seeds I planted would give me so much but what comes with that is also the burden he bares. The leeches in his life are the people constantly wanting more from him and sucking the life out of him. Then he describes how he is asking for a cure or a way for it to stop. "Caught under wheels roll" clearly to me identifies he has no cure or answer to his problem so the cycle continues. That's why the song ends the way it starts.

My VERY deeply Christian friend was even impressed when I shared some of the lyrics with him...the "thorn in my side from the tree I planted" part, and especially the "come make me pure, bleed me your cure" could even speak of Jesus Christ's very crucifixion, really, as He shed his very blood that we might have life. Lyrics:
    I'm digging my way
I'm digging my way to something
I'm digging my way to something better
    I'm pushing to stay
I'm pushing to stay with something
I'm pushing to stay with something better
    I'm sowing the seeds
I'm sowing the seeds I've taken
I'm sowing the seeds I take for granted
    This thorn in my side
This thorn in my side is from the tree
This thorn in my side is from the tree I've planted
It tears me and I bleed
    And I bleed
    Caught under wheels' roll
I take the leech, I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's leading me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    Caught under wheels' roll
    The bleeding of me
    Of me
    The bleeding of me
    Caught under wheels' roll
I take the leech, I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's leading me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    Caught under wheels' roll
    The bleeding of me
    The bleeding of me
I am the beast that feeds the feast
I am the blood, I am release
    Come make me pure
    Bleed me a cure
    I'm caught, I'm caught, I'm caught under
    Caught under wheels' roll
I take the leech, I'm bleeding me
Can't stop to save my soul
I take the leash that's leading me
    I'm bleeding me
    I can't take it
    I can't take it
    I can't take it
    The bleeding of me
    I'm digging my way
I'm digging my way to something
I'm digging my way to something better
    I'm pushing to stay
I'm pushing to stay with something
I'm pushing to stay with something better
    With something better

Everyone says they sold out after the Black album and I'll never understand. They grew with each album, and though they might have not been as hard, each one is a masterpiece.

    • @Dwendele
      @Dwendele 6 років тому +4

Ryan Becker they've always been just as "hard", heavy is a better description, their music (all of it) has a weight to it... It's big, and unstoppable and whether it's a bullet train or a slow steam roller, it's still going to crush you under its weight.

Some times take for granted just how great of a band they have been after all of these years. They've gone from heavy to light heaviness to some country sounding material back to being heavy again. They have made it look so easy. There will never ever be another METALLICA.
