- hi everyone, here is my new AMV on Gundam Unicorn, for this AMV I chose to take one of the biggest battles of Gundam Unicorn: The Battle Of Torrington from Gundam Unicorn's OAV 5, with music by Sabaton: The Attack Of The Dead Men

For some, the war never truly ended. Being told that all of the pain, misery, and sacrifice you went through was for nothing... its hard for many to accept. Deep in their hearts, they know that it should be over. But they won't allow themselves to accept it. Be it pride, hope for a better tomorrow, or hatred, they won't give up the fight. Even if its a hopeless cause, or a battle they can't win, they would rather their flame be blown out in battle, then slowly fade into nothing. Did they accomplish what they wanted? Hard to say, but right or wrong, they fought on.

It's hatred. Why else would they do stuff like going back to a MS that's already been mission-killed just to kill the pilot when he can't fight back. A bunch of cowards stroking their bruised egos by attacking newbie pilots. And what happens when actual veteran Feddie pilots show up? The Zekes get folded like an omelette. Hell the Byarlant Custom, driven by a test pilot no less, bodied no small portion of their force.
zeon remnant are really like the dead man in the sabaton song they keep on fighting even when their suits are old or damaged beyond repair, they just keep on fighting the federation, Sieg Zeon

Seeing all those old zeek suits get up from their 17 year slumber gave me chills. They are like ghosts revived to fight for the cause on earth yet again
I've always wondered why the Earth Federation gave their aquatic units harpoon guns and grappling hooks. They seem weak against most mobile suits
Energy weapons in it's infancy wouldn't be compatible with underwater warfare while regular powder weapons are gas operated wouldn't be able to generate the pressure needed to cycle rounds. Torpedoes are viable but take up space where harpoons and the like can be re used

Funnily enough, the first beam weapons in UC were made especially for aquatic suits, becuase of water cooling. Beam weaponry works fine down there.
The reason the Feddie suits have harpoons is because they're old, and the Federation is cheep.
Main reason is that making specialized suits and weaponry for various climates is not cheap and takes time. Zeon planned complete domination in all kinds of Earth's areas and made various units and prototypes to achieve that. Federation was pressed for time and focused on heavy mass production all purpose units with minimal adjustments. When they pressed back the invaders, they had no urgent need to make expensive aquatic-only suits for few ragtag remains of Zeon spread all over globe. Most normal weaponry for ground and space operations were less than ideal under water though so here come crappy harpoons.
As for beam weaponry of Zeon, it was designed specifically for it's environment. It was why initially Gundam was unprepared with it's beam rifle not being able to shoot. Not to mention Amuro did not have dedicated staff for his upgrades.

Supposedly it was the same guy who was putting the thing together.
Robin Diaz - officially a Federation mobile suit mechanic. But in reality an ex-Titan pilot that hid his affiliation after the Titans were disbanded. It's one of the reasons he knows how to use that thing.
I love Zeon mobile suits gives them the best looking theme they are warriors and they live to fight.

its a weird feeling seeing zeon go from the unstoppable space bad guys in 0079 and after years and years of zeta, and ZZ and AOZ and all the others series to zeon (remnants) being these scrappy underdogs still fighting for what they believe in for and the battle at torrington is kind of their last stand. i really wish they could have just won something. maybe its because after the death of gihren zabi the zeon remants became less in wanting to beat the federation and more in just wanting independence from the federation and in turn the federation became more hostile and devolved into the titans and the groups shown in hathaways flash
incredibly based analysis of zeon, i adore the 3rd wave zeon remnants (i.e. sleeves), they are genuinely so much more interesting than the federation ever could be for that time period in UC

@@skeeter5076 the sleeves despite having the most n*zi/wermarcht aesthetic are probably the most justified of the Zeon/Neo Zeon insurgency forces. No colony drops or gassing (unless they do some in narrative which I haven't seen) and they're pretty much just fighting for political power outside of Earthsphere.
The federation government is extremely corrupt at this point, and as we can see it gets even worse by uc 105, so these remnant forces do feel like a more noble precursor to Mafty.
